Three generations of Vijayakumar's family came together on-screen in Oh My Dog, proving their cinematic legacy is far from fading.
When we think of film stars' families in the South industry, Ram Charan or Nagarjuna may come to our mind. But Tamil cinema's quiet powerhouse, Vijayakumar's family, holds a unique place, a clan that spans three active generations in front of the camera.
Veteran actor Vijayakumar passed on the baton to his son Arun Vijay, who carved out a name for himself as a stylish and intense performer. Now, Arun's son, Arnav Vijay, has stepped into the spotlight, completing a cinematic trilogy across generations.
The trio made headlines when they appeared together in the 2022 Tamil film Oh My Dog, produced by Jyothika and Suriya, and directed by Sarov Shanmugam. Seeing grandfather, father, and grandson in one frame was nothing short of an emotional treat for fans.
Is it just the men carrying the legacy?
Not at all. The Vijayakumar family's daughters have also made their mark.
Vanitha Vijayakumar once shared screen space with superstar Vijay in Chandralekha.
Preetha Vijayakumar featured in films like Alli Arjuna and Pungan Desam.
Sridevi Vijayakumar has credits in Priyamana Thozhi, Thithikkuthe, and Devathai Kanden.
What's more? Vijayakumar's son-in-law is none other than acclaimed director Hari, and his granddaughter Jovika is entering the scene as a producer with Mr. and Mrs.
Is this the biggest acting family in Tamil cinema?
By sheer volume and longevity, yes. From screen legends to rising stars, and now storytellers behind the camera, Vijayakumar's family might just be Tamil cinema's most complete film legacy.
A family where scripts, sets, and stardom are quite literally in their blood.

Picture Credit: X Ram Charan is currently occupied with the shooting of his upcoming sports drama film, 'Peddi.' Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, 'Peddi' features Janhvi Kapoor and is progressing rapidly. Recently, filmmaker Naga Vamsi shared what the 'RRR' stars' next move after 'Peddi' might be. Naga Vamsi drops an update According to a report by 123Telugu, during a recent promotional interview for Vijay Deverakonda 's upcoming film 'Kingdom,' producer Naga Vamsi dropped a surprise update. He mentioned that Ram Charan is likely to take up a "quick film" once he wraps up 'Peddi.' However, he didn't share any concrete details. Is it 'RC17'? It would be amusing to see, as it has already been revealed, that Ram Charan, after 'Peddi,' would be working with 'Pushpa' and 'Rangasthalam' director Sukumar for his next, which is tentatively named 'RC17.' The movie is currently in the pre-production stage. With that film expected to take some more time to go on floors, the idea of an interim "quickie" project might be there. Rather than rushing into back-to-back releases, the actor appears to be focused on maintaining the standard set by 'RRR.' His only major film post-'RRR' has been Game Changer. Aside from that, he appeared in a brief cameo in 'Acharya' and had a special appearance in a song in Salman Khan's 'Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. ' About 'Peddi' Ram Charan's character, in 'Peddi,' is portrayed as a rugged and intense figure, with a distinctive look featuring long hair, a thick beard, and a nose ring.
