Mezo Launches Supernormal Foundation to Accelerate BitcoinFi Innovation and Mezo Ecosystem Growth

New York, New York, July 14th, 2025, Chainwire
The foundation will also see the introduction of the Mezo Alpha Builder Program and sets the stage for additional comprehensive ecosystem development initiatives.
Mezo, the bank-free Bitcoin finance platform built by Thesis*, today announced the launch of the Supernormal Foundation, a dedicated organization designed to build, govern, and grow the MUSD economy and the broader Mezo Network. The Foundation represents a pivotal shift toward community-powered ecosystem governance, moving away from traditional top-down approaches to enable decentralized innovation in the BitcoinFi space.
The Supernormal Foundation launches with immediate support for developers through the Alpha Builder Program, providing comprehensive resources, including grants, co-marketing, networking, and hands-on integration for teams looking to build within the Mezo and MUSD economy. This inaugural initiative positions the foundation as a catalyst for BitcoinFi innovation while driving widespread MUSD adoption across the ecosystem.
"The launch of the Supernormal Foundation comes at a transformative moment for the BitcoinFi ecosystem. Is the future of Bitcoin going to be driven by banks and business people, or can we build something better together?", Said Matt Luongo, CEO of Thesis* and Co-founder of Mezo. "The foundation is named after our goal for Bitcoin itself; to make using Bitcoin so normal, and such a crucial part of people's lives, that it's no longer special... it's just obvious. The Foundation's launch represents our commitment to growing and building alongside developers and users on Mezo, not just for them. Together, we'll make Bitcoin supernormal."
The Alpha Builder Program is an example of providing this support. It gives developers the opportunity to access development resources, technical support, and grants for teams ready to contribute to the growing MUSD economy. Qualified development teams can access mentorship from industry experts and integration assistance to accelerate their projects from concept to deployment on Mezo.
The Foundation's comprehensive approach to ecosystem development extends beyond immediate builder support. The Supernormal Foundation will serve as the launch pad for additional major initiatives planned for later this year, including partnering with the BitcoinFi Accelerator led by Boost VC, Draper Associates and Thesis —a dedicated accelerator for Bitcoin-focused projects— as well as new grant programs and hackathons, which will provide funding to builders developing innovative solutions on the Mezo network.
The Supernormal Foundation will also work in concert with Tigris, Mezo's integrated incentive framework, to launch a Vote feature for users later this year. This groundwork will unlock the ability for users to guide the direction of Mezo's development, further democratizing governance and decision-making across the Mezo ecosystem.
The launch of the Supernormal Foundation will also see the creation of a Bitcoin Advisory Group to accelerate ecosystem growth for projects building on Mezo and to help guide decentralization efforts for the Foundation moving forward. The advisory group will be comprised of several notable leaders in the Bitcoin space, including Arthur Hayes, crypto entrepreneur and former CIO of Maelstrom, Dan Held, a strategic growth leader at Kraken and long-time educator for the Bitcoin network, Dovey Wan, founder of Primitive Ventures and growth expert for blockchain projects, and Will Reeves, co-founder of Fold, who will provide independent guidance focused solely on Bitcoin-native finance and adoption.
For more information about the Supernormal Foundation, as well as information about how developers can sign up for the Alpha Builder program, users can visit the Mezo Ecosystem page to learn more.

Markets pull back from highs as CPI comes in hotter than expected

Markets pull back from highs as CPI comes in hotter than expected originally appeared on TheStreet. Bitcoin retreated Tuesday as the U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) showed hotter-than-expected inflation, denting optimism around a potential Federal Reserve rate cut. The CPI rose 0.3% month-over-month in June, accelerating from May's 0.1% pace. Year-over-year inflation also jumped to 2.7%, up from 2.4% in May. Core CPI, which excludes food and energy, rose 0.2% in June and came in at 2.9% annually — signs that underlying inflationary pressure remains sticky. The data prompted a swift market reaction. At press time, Bitcoin (BTC) was trading at $116,227, down nearly 6% from its recent all-time high of $123, sell-off coincides with shifting expectations for a Fed rate cut. According to the CME FedWatch Tool, the probability of a rate cut in September dropped to 60%, down from over 80% last week. 'BTC has undergone short-term liquidation following a series of breakouts,' said analysts at Bitunix, a global digital asset exchange.'Key support to watch: $117,000–$116,300. If this zone holds, a rebound may occur. If support breaks, the next key level lies at $110,500.' The inflation surprise also brought broader macro concerns back into focus, including the potential ousting of Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell by President Donald Trump. Deutsche Bank's George Saravelos recently flagged this as one of the 'most underpriced risks,' warning it could spark a 3% to 4% dollar decline and 40 bps spike in Treasury yields within hours. While the Fed's next move remains uncertain, the takeaway for markets is clear: the path to easing may be bumpier than hoped. As one Bitunix strategist put it, 'Given rising macro and geopolitical risks, traders are advised to adopt a cautious stance.' Stock futures were mixed following the data: S&P 500 futures rose 0.3%, Nasdaq 100 futures added 0.6%, while Dow futures slipped 0.2%. Nvidia jumped over 4% premarket after announcing plans to resume H20 AI chip sales to China. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) acts as a key inflation gauge and directly shapes how the Federal Reserve sets interest rates. When CPI rises, it signals that inflation is heating up, which typically causes the Fed to either maintain or raise interest rates to cool the economy. Higher rates make traditional, safer assets like bonds more attractive—leading investors to pull back from high-volatility assets like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and the current cycle, with CPI up 0.3% for June and annual inflation hitting 2.7%, markets are anticipating the Fed may delay any interest rate cuts. This uncertainty is rippling through crypto markets, which had just seen strong inflows and a Bitcoin rally past $123,000. Ultimately, crypto tends to thrive when inflation cools and the Fed adopts a more dovish tone. That environment boosts liquidity and risk appetite, sending digital asset prices higher. But with inflation trending higher and Fed cuts less likely in the near term, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are once again at the mercy of central bank signals and broader market risk sentiment. Crypto Week Is Here. Should You Buy MicroStrategy Stock?

MicroStrategy (MSTR) shares closed higher on Monday following SEC filings that confirmed the Virginia-headquartered firm has loaded up on another 4,225 Bitcoin (BTCUSD). MSTR spent nearly $43 billion to increase its overall BTC holdings to 601,550 between July 7 and July 13. The Bitcoin-proxy made the purchase using proceeds from at-the-market offerings. Markets move fast. Keep up by reading our FREE midday Barchart Brief newsletter for exclusive charts, analysis, and headlines. MicroStrategy stock has been in a sharp uptrend over the past three months, and is currently up some 96% versus its year-to-date low. MSTR shares are inching up also because U.S. lawmakers are set to debate three major pro-crypto bills: the CLARITY Act, the GENIUS Act, and the Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act between July 14 and July 18. The so-called 'crypto week' in the House of Representavies may prove a major tailwind for MicroStrategy as it could legitimize cryptocurrencies, potentially attracting institutional capital and reinforcing the company's BTC-centric strategy. Investors' optimism is already being reflected in the price of Bitcoin that rallied past $120,000 on Monday – momentum that may soon translate into further upside for MicroStrategy stock. BTIG analysts are convinced that MicroStrategy shares have more room to the upside despite their monster rally since the first week of April. According to the investment firm, the annual 'Strategy World' conference showcased the firm's deep commitment to BTC and shareholder value creation. Additionally, it sees untapped upside in MicroStrategy's fixed-income instruments STRK and STRF, which could further enhance equity value through financial engineering. In its latest research note, BTIG explained that the market is underestimating the strategic potential of MicroStrategy's debt and investment vehicles as well. Its analysts expect MSTR stock to hit $620 over the next few months as MicroStrategy is no longer just a software firm, but a Bitcoin-native financial entity with asymmetric upside. Investors could take heart in the fact that, much like BTIG, the majority of other Wall Street firms also believe it's not yet too late to invest in MicroStrategy stock. The consensus rating on MSTR shares currently sits at 'Strong Buy' with the mean target of $535 indicating potential upside of another 19% from current levels. Satoshi-Era Whale Sells 9K BTC for Over $1B as Bitcoin Dips Below $117K

A bitcoin (BTC) whale holding more than 80,000 BTC sold a chunk their hoard following bitcoin's ascent to an all-time high around $123,000 on Monday. The user, who mined the cryptocurrency during the earliest days of the industry — a period known as the Satoshi era after the pseudonymous bitcoin creator — sold 9,000 BTC ($1 billion) via Galaxy Digital, Lookonchain posted on X. Users with particularly large amounts of BTC, known as whales, have the ability to move the market when they buy or sell bitcoin because of the substantial number of tokens involved. Satoshi-era bitcoin whales are closely monitored by traders for market signals, particularly when the BTC in their wallets has not moved for a number of years. The Satoshi era refers to a loose period of between 2009 and 2011 when bitcoin's pseudonymous creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, was active in the community and BTC was generally priced in cents. The world's largest cryptocurrency fell from Monday's high, dropping below $117,000. Such a slide is quite common following a surge as many users sell coins to bank some profits. Bitcoin was recently priced just above $117,000, around 4.55% lower than its peak.
