Sharing the news on Instagram, the Liverpudlian wrote: 'I'm really gutted to share I've picked up an injury in training this week so won't be competing (at the Hypo Meeting) at the weekend.

'I was really looking forward to competing in my first heptathlon since Paris, especially at Gotzis as the event is so special.
'It is with a heavy heart that I've had to make this decision. Thankfully the injury is nothing serious and I'll be back on the track shortly.

Johnson-Thompson's silver last summer in France was her first Olympic medal in four Games.

The 33-year-old gave birth to her third child and first daughter, Lily, in early May and has since returned to work and public events, including an appearance alongside husband Jason at the Wimbledon Championships earlier this month. Kenny admitted that it wasn't all sunshine and roses in the lead-up to the event, struggling to find a dress that she felt comfortable in so soon after giving birth, which would also allow her to feed her daughter during the day. Posting to her 221k followers on Instagram, the five-time Olympic champion opened up about the mental and emotional toll being a mother to a newborn can have on you and was overwhelmed to see such an incredible response from others in a similar position. "I find it hugely important to post about this stuff, especially from a women's point of view," she said. "We actually looked at the digital response and there were 1.5 million views and 86% were female on that post alone. "That's why it's so important, and that's why I posted it, because I want every other mum that's sitting at home to know how I was feeling. "You see a nice happy photo of us at Wimbledon, but that wasn't the backstory. The backstory was me actually quite upset, trying to find an outfit because I felt like I didn't look like me, and I'm having to put myself in the limelight, and find a dress that will let me feed my child. "Yes, going to Wimbledon is a choice, but it is also something that I wanted to do, and I shouldn't have to give that up." Kenny retired from her career in the velodrome in March 2024 and has since stepped into a new role as President of Commonwealth Games England. It is a role she took on at seven months pregnant and one that she has taken in stride, having already attended her first board meeting less than 12 weeks after giving birth. And even though Lily might admittedly be the easiest of her three children when it comes to sleeping, Kenny knows that returning to work so quickly is hardly the norm for most mothers. She also noted that it is something she enjoys, having always embraced chaos in the workplace. "Some people think it's a bit mental coming back so soon," she said. "I mean, I filmed a podcast when she was just two days old, and it didn't even occur to me that it was kind of mental. Our line of work is a bit random, and it is a bit all over the place, and so it's always been like that. "I trained with Albie, and he just travelled the world with us so for me, I've actually never known any different and so I'm just enjoying it again. "I'm not going to say it's not difficult, but I like the mayhem and absolute carnage." Kenny's new role is quickly heating up, with today marking one year to go until the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. It is a milestone that the former track cyclist knows well from her time as an athlete, believing that it was a key moment for athletes to nail down their targets. "From an athlete's point of view, you can think that the Games are coming around really fast, and it can almost seem a little bit scary," she said. "But I think it feels scary, and it feels daunting because it means so much to you. I think it brings a whole host of emotion. "I always felt like a year to go was really achievable. I could set a target by that point." But from her new stead as President, Kenny admitted that she is relishing the new behind-the-scenes aspect that she has access to. From board meetings about accommodation to talking through athlete selection processes, Kenny has a whole new world of insight into what happens to make a Commonwealth Games come to life. And with the clock ticking down until the opening day of competition on 23 July 2026 in Glasgow, she is more than ready to get stuck in. "I'm so excited," she said. "The reason I took the role in the first place was because I felt like I wanted to give back to the athletes and because Team England have played a huge part in my career. "So, the bit that I'm obviously most excited about is actually talking to the athletes and getting involved and that will only ramp up from now."

'I know where Anthony Joshua has gone wrong – nobody will dare tell him'
Anthony Joshua has suffered a fall from grace following his knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois, and one former world champion has raised suspicions around his camp Former cruiserweight world champion Johnny Nelson believes Anthony Joshua 's days of challenging for the biggest belts in boxing are over. And he has attributed the former world No. 1's fall from grace to his lack of a support network that will drive him to his best. It was only three years ago that Joshua, 35, was in contention to unify the heavyweight division before consecutive losses to Oleksandr Usyk. The Olympic gold medal-winner then appeared to be back on the rise after putting together four straight wins, only to suffer a devastating fifth-round knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois last year. Nelson, who retired in 2006 after going a decade undefeated, believes the boxing world has "seen the best" of Joshua. He at least partially blamed his plummet from the world title spotlight on 'AJ' not having the right people in his entourage. "It's very hard to have people around you that'll tell you how it is," said 'The Entertainer' in an interview with Mirror Sport, courtesy of "You're going to have people around you that want to stay in your employment, stay in that circle. So they're going to tell you stuff that you want to hear. "They're not going to tell you, 'You need to be doing this, you need to get a hand up, you're getting hit, you're getting beat up by this guy here. Why are you doing that? Why aren't you running this time? Why are you going to open that crisp packet when you should be in the gym?'" Nelson determined: "Nobody on his squad are going to dare tell him that with any conviction. And so now all of a sudden the roles have changed, whereas when you're hungry, and you need it, they want to drag you up. "Now he's the boss. They work for him. And so that's where the problem is. And I think that along with time, along with age, along with experience, along with appetite, once they get out of kilter [it's over]. AJ's in that position." There was a palpable sense of regret in AJ's voice when he witnessed Usyk's knockout of Dubois at Wembley on Saturday. Promoter Eddie Hearn told his fighter they "should have beaten Dubois," to which the former world champion replied simply: "I know." Joshua's undefeated career came to an end when he suffered another surprise loss in June 2019, a seventh-round stoppage at the hands of Andy Ruiz. Although he avenged that loss just six months later, it served as another example of the Briton's oversight. His two decision defeats to Usyk could hardly be considered lamentable given the Ukrainian's success since moving up to heavyweight. But the same perhaps can't be said for his IBF title clash against Dubois, particularly in the form he was in at the time. However, it's perhaps pertinent that each of those unexpected losses to Ruiz and Dubois came at points when AJ was enjoying surging highs in his career. The former materialised when Joshua was 22-0 and held the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO belts, while Dubois got the better of him just when it seemed he was back on top, having finished each of his previous three fights. He now faces an uncertain future, with a clash against YouTuber Jake Paul being mooted, while speculation of a Tyson Fury matchup are never far. Nelson went on to liken his situation to that of former training partner Prince Naseem Hamed, who was a world-beater at one stage himself. "I've been around Prince Naseem, an amazing fighter. And I was around him from the very beginning of his career," he continued. "But then all of a sudden he started to surround himself with yes men. He deleted all the people that kept him grounded and said it how it was to him to keep him real. "And the more yes men he surrounded himself with, the more his boxing life turned into chaos. He lost fights he shouldn't have done. He was surrounding himself by the swimming pool in Bob Hope's house when [Marco Antonio] Barrera was up in the mountains training. And he's saying, 'Yeah, I don't have to do this.' There was nobody around him to say, 'What are you doing?' It's the same with a lot of modern fighters now." The money on offer to boxing's elite today is bigger than ever, and Nelson is happy for Joshua that he's made enough to make a clean getaway from the sport. But while some may scratch their head as to why Britain's former poster boy hasn't quite lived up to his full potential, there's a sense those around Joshua have to carry some of the blame.
