Bad Bunny Drops Surprise Single ‘Alambre Púa' Amid Historic Puerto Rico Residency
On Monday (July 14), El Conejo Malo finally dropped the single on all DSPs, alongside an accompanying visual. The nearly 3-minute music video, recorded at the venue, transforms the stage into a visual homage to Bunny's Puerto Rican roots, with lush mountainous landscapes and Taino-inspired dancer weaving through the scene, wearing beige colors with straw accents. There was also a ceiba-like tree at the right side of the stage — Puerto Rico's national tree and a cultural symbol. The percussive-heavy track is produced by Tainy and Luis Ahmed Irizarry.

The stage design was executed with the help of set designer Gabriela Escalera, Mayna Magruder, production designer Monica Monserrate, Natalia Rosa, Rafi Pérez, and A1 Productions' executive producer Sigfredo Bellaflores — all of whom captured Bad Bunny's creativity and deep connection to his heritage, marking a powerful beginning to an already historic residency.
'Me amarraste el corazón con alambre 'e púa', he sings ('You tied my heart with barbed wire'). He pairs this sentiment with declarations like, 'Hoy te vo'a buscar y te vo'a besar cerca del lunar', meaning, 'Tonight I'll find you and kiss you near your birthmark.'
Benito's residency in Puerto Rico continues through the rest of July and into mid September. The first nine dates of the show have been specifically reserved for local residents only, with the remainder of the residency open to the public.

Natasha Lyonne Recalls a New Year's Day on a Beach in Puerto Rico with Her Dog, Rootbeer
'A few years ago I went to San Juan, Puerto Rico, to visit my friend [the director] Ángel Manuel Soto. Rootbeer—that's my dog—came with me. On New Year's Day a big group of us went to the beach—I'm intentionally trying to avoid telling you which one. I would never divulge this perfect slice of heaven. That makes no sense at all. It had primo water, not too cold, and no rocks, so you can touch the floor. I surfed a bit. I was a gymnast as a child, so I can ride a wave no problem, except that I'm five foot three and surfboards are, I don't know, closer to six feet, so if the wrong wave ever catches me—boom—I'm dust. The main thing we did was a long swim in the ocean. I'm talking about three hours of swimming. Well, at least I did. Other people were coming and going; [the actor] Anthony Ramos was there for a while. And there was a lot of chatter, like, 'Yeah, New Year's Day, we gotta swim last night off.' I thought to myself, Can I really do small talk in the ocean? I'm the wrong guy for that. So I went and did laps. I think a lot of people see the ocean as something to dip in or sit by. I don't understand all those beach shenanigans—like, I don't get sunbathing. I'm there to swim. I'm that person you see in the water and go, 'Is that person swimming across the entire ocean?' I like to do a backstroke so I can look up at the sky and feel like I'm in a snow globe. At night I like to look up at the stars. Though I did sit with Rootbeer on the beach for a while. What did I think about? Well, my surfboard has a decal of Carl Sagan on it. I'm not sure if you're familiar with the ending of the film Contact, with our friend Jodie Foster, but there was water [in the parallel dimension Foster's character journeyed to]. Bad Bunny Drops ‘Alambre Púa' After Debuting Track at Puerto Rico Residency
Bad Bunny is back with a surprise new single, 'Alambre Púa,' marking his first new music since the release of his latest album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos. The track's official release comes after Bad Bunny debuted it live over the weekend, highlighting 'Alambre Púa' as the show-opener at his residency at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The propulsive, sweltering track also arrives with a visualizer that, for the most part, follows a woman's legs as she dances across a beach. The 30-show residency officially kicked off July 11, with concerts scheduled through Sept. 14. After wrapping the hometown run, Bad Bunny will kick off a world tour that runs through 2026, with concerts throughout Central and South America, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe. Earlier this month, before releasing 'Alambre Púa,' Bad Bunny released a music video for his Debí Tirar Más Fotos track, 'Nuevayol.'
