Public Prosecutor PT Saravanan, who represented the victim, told TNIE the court has made it clear that no leniency, including parole or leave, should be granted to Hemaraj. The judge further instructed the railways to appoint woman police personnel in ladies' coaches in all trains across TN and to install surveillance cameras in these coaches. Besides, the state government was ordered to bear the cost of the victim's lifelong treatment.
The chargesheet was filed on April 26, and the trial commenced on June 9.
The crime took place on February 6, 2025, when the woman from Tiruppur was travelling alone in the ladies' coach of the Coimbatore–Tirupati Intercity Express. After other woman passengers got down at Jolarpet station, Hemaraj boarded the compartment and allegedly attempted to rape her before pushing her off the train. On February 10, she suffered a miscarriage of the second baby the family had planned and waited 18 years for.

LUCKNOW: In a case of blatant corruption, 11 Police Response Vehicle (PRV) personnel, accused of attacking livestock trader Mohammad Uzair and extorting Rs 10,000 from him, were suspended in Kanpur. Those cops left their assigned spot to extort money from the trader and assaulted him. The incident took place on July 12. Following a formal complaint, authorities initiated an investigation and found the cops involved in the case. This led them to order the suspension of 11 personnel on Monday for allegedly assaulting and extorting money from the trader from Aligarh. The preliminary enquiry was conducted by the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) South and the probe established the culpability of the cops. The suspension was implemented based on the initial findings and now a comprehensive investigation is underway by the Assistant Commissioner of Police. As per the sources, on July 12, livestock trader Mohammad Uzair and driver Laxman were transporting animals from Sarsaul to Aligarh when they were reportedly attacked and robbed of Rs 10,000 by PRV personnel in the Chakeri area under Barra police station jurisdiction.

Following the arrest, police recovered around 8.59 grams of brown sugar, around Rs 60,000 cash and seven mobile phones from their possession. The PUNE CITY police have launched a probe after two burglars broke into the house of a 78-year-old retired Wing Commander of the Indian Air Force (IAF) in Wanawadi and robbed gold and diamond jewellery alongwith cash—all collectively totalling to over Rs 59 lakh. An FIR was registered by the veteran who retired from the IAF in 1992 and has since settled in Pune's Wanawadi area. He currently runs a real estate business while his 50-year-old son runs a business in the automobile sector. According to the FIR, the incident took place between 2.30am and 3.15am on Tuesday. At the time, the complainant and his wife were asleep in their bedroom downstairs and while his son daughter-in-law were in the bedroom on the first floor. According to the FIR, the complainant and his wife woke up after two unidentified masked men entered their bedroom. The duo threatened and broke open the cupboard in the bedroom with the help of a screwdriver. They burgled gold, diamond, precious stone ornaments and cell phones of the complainant and his wife worth Rs 51.74 lakh and Rs 7.5 lakh in cash, all totalling to Rs 59.24 lakh. The duo fled after threatening the elderly couple not to raise an alarm. After a while, the complainant and his wife came to the drawing room and found that the lock of a door of the drawing room had been broken. Other family members then came down and the police were informed. 'We have checked the CCTV cameras on the premises and surrounding area. Two masked suspects have been captured. We have launched a probe based on some clues and are probing all the possible angles,' said an officer who is part of the investigation.
