Molly Shannon tips Kenan Thompson to replace Lorne Michaels
The long-running TV comedy show was created by Lorne, 80, in the mid-70s, and Molly thinks he's done a remarkable job with the show.
Molly, 60 - who was a cast member on Saturday Night Live from 1995 until 2001 - told People: "It's his show, his vision.
"There's no one who could replace him. It would not be the same show. He's just a one-of-a-kind genius. Brilliant. Smart."
Despite this, Molly believes that Kenan - who has been a cast member on Saturday Night Live since 2003 - could potentially replace Lorne as the showrunner one day.
She said: "I love this idea. He's the greatest — I adore Kenan.
"[Kenan is] so talented. That's an excellent idea."
Kenan is widely seen as a central part of the Saturday Night Live cast - but he previously played down his own importance to the show.
He told NPR: "I'm tough with self-praise, I guess, but I am definitely an ensemble-minded individual. And if that echoes across, you know, in a way that people want to consider me as a glue, great, you know?
"But I just try to go out there and do my job and, you know, give showcase to these brilliant writers and brilliant minds and all of our departments - makeup and hair and directors and this, that and the other. You know what I mean?
"Just ... Trying to be a team player. But those things come along with being consistent, which is definitely, you know, much appreciated."
Kenan also admitted that he doesn't know how long he'll remain on Saturday Night Live.
He explained: "I'm supposed to be there through the 50th, but that's all I know as far as what they want from me kind of thing. And then what I want at this point?
"Yeah, I mean, I could see myself, like, hanging it up. It's been a long run. You know what I mean? But at the same time, I could also see myself being the guy that never left kind of thing. I don't really know. It's kind of, like, still a blank canvas."

Elizabeth Taylor once accidentally left the 33.29-carat Krupp Diamond in a hotel suite. The late actress - who died aged 79 in 2011 - was gifted the famous jewel by her then-husband Richard Burton in 1968, and her executive assistant Tim Mendelson has revealed she used to travel with the diamond. Mendelson - who worked for her from 1990 until her death and is co=trustee of her estate - told PEOPLE magazine: "This was my first trip with her abroad and I'd never been out of the country before. I met her in Gstaad but we were going to Venice. "We stayed at the Cipriani, and she had a huge suite there. She was married to Larry [Fortensky] at the time. There were some AIDS events and we went to a luncheon. "I was sitting at the table next to her. She was sitting next to the artist, Robert Rauschenberg, and she tapped me on the shoulder. She said, 'Come close.' And she whispered my ear, 'I left the Krupp Diamond.' " Taylor wore the Krupp Diamond - originally named after the family of German industrialists - as a ring, and described it as her favourite piece. Mendelson recalled: "She always traveled with not all her jewelry, it was too much, but she wasn't shy about traveling with her jewels, like Cartier and the Bulgari, and these historic pieces. "She said, 'Don't tell anyone. Take Moshe,' who was her head of security at the time. We went in a speedboat back to the hotel. "I walked into the suite and we had told them they could clean. So there was this whole cleaning crew in this massive suite and people were vacuuming and all this stuff." He can still remembered seeing the jewel - which was renamed The Elizabeth Taylor Diamond after her death - "just sitting there" on the side in the bathroom, and it appeared the staff had "cleaned right around it". He said: "In the bathroom, the diamond is just sitting there. I grabbed it and put it in my pocket and went back to give it to her... "It's so crazy, but I think she was protected. She had such an amazing spirit and such courage, but she was protected."

Freddie Prinze Jr thinks Saw made other horror films seem 'funny'
Freddie Prinze Jr. thinks Saw turned other horror films into comedies. The 49-year-old actor - who will reprise his role as Ray Bronson in the upcoming I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel - has opened up on how James Wan's 2004 horror film changed how fans reacted to the slasher genre after movies like Scream in the 1990s. Speaking to Extra, he recalled: "Every 10 years, horror films kind of evolve, right? "And it happens much more quickly than comedies or dramas or action movies or anything like that. "And we had just come from a time when horror movies weren't really being respected. And it took Wes [Craven] to come in and kind of remind people… 'Look what you can do with a low budget but a great script that's character-driven with wonderful set pieces'... '[After Scream] they started taking swings on other scripts. And they started giving opportunities to other scripts and ideas. 'All of a sudden Saw came out, which makes our movies not scary anymore… and kids are like, 'Well, now I've seen this, so now your movie's funny.' ' A few years before Saw, the Scary Movie franchise launched in 2000 and spoofed other horror films, including the original I Know What You Did Last Summer from 1997. Although Freddie hasn't seen the parody films, Jennifer Kaytin Robinson - the writer and director for the I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel - is a huge fan. She admitted: "My dream — because they're rebooting Scary Movie — is for them to rip this movie in the new Scary Movie… That would be such an ultimate for me.' The first movie - based on the 1973 novel of the same name by Lois Duncan - hit cinemas in 1997 and was followed by a second installment I Still Know What You Did Last Summer a year later, and I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer in 2006 as well as a 2021 TV series. Now, the franchise is being revived with a new legacy sequel featuring original stars Jennifer Love Hewitt and Prinze Jr. Director Robinson previously teased the new movie is going to be much more gory than the original. She told PEOPLE: "[The horror elements are] ratcheted up to a hundred in this - it's much more brutal ... "There's definitely more methodology to every kill in this movie, unlike the first, which is kind of just him [the killer] stalking them and going after them. "There's not a lot of gore or blood or violence in the first one. There certainly is in this one." And while old fans can get "excited about the Easter eggs", she wanted the new film to be accessible to newcomers. She added: "[We] approached it like super fans, so I think people are going to be really happy. All the things that you want to see in this movie, you're going to see in this movie ... "We very purposefully wanted to make this movie both for fans of the original who are coming to this and excited about the Easter eggs but also for a new audience that can find I Know and almost watch the first one like a prequel. "That was very front of mind for me as we made this movie. You don't need to do any research coming into I Know What You Did Last Summer. You just have to have a really good time."
