Civil war breaks out at ESPN as popular on-air personalities clash over 'credibility' in public spat
The feud between the college football analyst and the host of the flagship edition of 'SportsCenter' began as Hebrstreit spoke on what he feels is the proper etiquette of a broadcaster.
Duncan was not the only name Herbstreit dropped, but hers was the only one painted in a negative light by the longtime 'College GameDay' personality, with him taking exception with broadcasters who show fandom on-air.
'If you are a personality, like a Bill Simmons, or a Stephen A. (Smith), or a Pat McAfee … part of their schtick is kind of that,' Herbstreit said this week on 'Next Man Up'. 'But you watch SportsCenter and Elle Duncan is sitting there cheering for Georgia.'
'She's openly cheering. I'm not a fan of that personally. I think it hurts your credibility. When that team is playing other teams, fans are looking at you like… That's different.'
Duncan took time away from her Independence Day celebrations to fire back at Herbstreit, with her response being anything but civil.
Herbstreit's comments over how to act on-camera led to a clapback from Duncan on Friday
'Didn't have this on my bingo card for today but my fandom doesn't impact in any way what or how we talk about teams on air. Ever,' Duncan posted on X. 'I…JUST..BARK?? Also **whispers** I'm not the only one. So why I get singled out?'
Herbstreit was accused of being hypocritical after his comments were made, as he has been viewed as partial to Ohio State.
Others have viewed the criticism of Duncan as fair, as they want the news of sports not to be given with personal opinions inserted without warning,
Duncan and Herbstreit do cross paths on ESPN's airwaves, as SportsCenter's anchors are tasked with interviewing specialists from the network on their expertise.
Herbstreit has done plenty of guest spots on ESPN's flagship show, and will likely run into Duncan again.

Palmeiras 1 Chelsea 2: Palmer stunner fires Blues into CWC semi-finals as new boy Estevao shows Maresca what he's got
ENZO MARESCA can look forward to a glittering future with his two superstars next season. A stunning strike from Cole Palmer and an equally classy equaliser from imminent arrival Estevao Willian have the Chelsea manager beaming. 6 6 6 6 But never underestimate the value of a scruffy own goal because that is what saved Maresca's skin and put Chelsea within touching distance of a much-needed £97 million windfall. And boy, do they need that cash as they pack up and head for New Jersey and the Club World Cup semi-final. Having been fined £31 million by UEFA for spending breaches hours before kick off, this B-list tournament played in the middle of the night for everyone back home has suddenly taken on much more importance. Chelsea will bank around double that for reaching Tuesday's last-four meeting with Brazilians Fluminense. But in pure football terms, head coach Maresca has emerged as the real winner. He watched Palmer turn on the magic in the first half to put his team ahead with a goal of pure instinctive brilliance. And while it was temporarily painful, there is no doubt the Italian will be licking his lips after watching new signing Estevao set up a dramatic finale with a leveller of ruthless quality as he said goodbye to his current club. It could be the perfect marriage of Manchester and the Maracana as England's Palmer and his soon-to-be new teammate signalled how much more dashing they will be up front next term. WATCH EVERY MATCH OF THE CLUB WORLD CUP 2025 LIVE ON DAZN 6 Even more so when striker Joao Pedro came off the bench and looked immediately at home at Chelsea after a £60m move from Brighton. Maresca said: 'I am happy because we won and also happy because Estevao scored, the perfect night. Cole Palmer stars in brilliant advert as he sets up helpline for rivals he has skinned 'You can see he is a huge talent. You can see is a fantastic player. "The only thing now is when you come from South America or another part of the world to Europe you need to adapt. 'We are going to help him to adapt and first of all to enjoy football. "We don't have any doubt, as he is so good, that he is going to be an important player for Chelsea.' Maresca and his team march on deep into this tournament despite a few hairy moments. Estevao, 18, has been hyped up like the new Pele in recent weeks as these two teams have drawn closer to last night's meeting. There is no doubt he is uber-talented. He also possesses the ability to wind up opponents like a flashy youth over-revving a souped up Ford Capri. Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella went out of his way ahead of the game to say how he would make the youngster feel wanted. None of us thought it would be quite in the way he did, with the battle-hardened left back taking a dislike to Estevao's showboating step-overs and late lunge on defender Levi Colwill. For that, he got wiped out by Chelsea captain Enzo Fernandez and was then left in a heap after tangling with Cucurella. Welcome to English football, my son. Although Willian would later leave a mark on Chelsea with his quality goal in the second half. I am moving on and I thank Palmeiras for everything. Willian Estevao The teenager was named man of the match and said: 'I'm very happy I could score a goal to help my club. "Unfortunately, this wasn't the result we wanted, but we gave our best on the pitch and now "I am moving on and I thank Palmeiras for everything.' Palmer stepped out of the shadows with a flash of brilliance that put Chelsea ahead on 16 minutes with his first goal at the Club World Cup. With his back to goal, he picked up a grass level through ball from Trevoh Chalobah, swivelled to his right, rolling centre half Micael, before slotting the ball in with the deftest poke of his left foot. The ball never travelled faster than 14mph en route to the back of the net - an indication of how precise this boy can be when he is in the mood to shine. 6 This replay of the 2022 Club World Cup final belonged to the Premier League side as it did three years ago, but only just. It began with a poorly observed moment's silence in honour of Liverpool forward Diogo Jota's death, with emotional Chelsea winger Pedro Neto holding what looked like a shirt with his friend's name on it in tribute. It ended with frenetic football and Malo Gusto - a full-back having a hard time at present, subbed at half time in last month's Conference League final, playing a vital role in sending Chelsea through. The Frenchman picked up a pass from Fernandez as he darted into the box and tried to cross. The ball spun off Palmeiras defender Agustin Giay and past the keeper to put Chelsea seven minutes from time. And now it's Maresca and his band off to New Jersey - Bruce Springsteen country. Glory Days are just around the corner.

Hailey Bieber mercilessly mocked after debuting latest Rhode beauty accessory
Hailey Bieber 's Rhode Peptide Lip Tint was successful on its own. But when she came out with the Rhode Lip Case in February - a phone case with a built-in holder for the lip tint and other lip gloss - fans swarmed to buy it. It was innovative, smart and it cemented Hailey as not just another celebrity going into business without knowing what they were doing - she was a true beauty entrepreneur. But a new launch in the Rhode line may have damaged those accolades. Along with a new 'Lemontini' Peptide Lip Tint, Hailey debuted a Rhode Belly Chain - a waist chain meant to hold her lip tints - on her Instagram feed. The chain was shown in a series of promotional photos of Hailey that included the starlet in a black tube top and matching shorts. Hailey, 28, captioned the photo dump 'lemontini ballerini' followed by a lemon emoji and martini emoji. But aside from the lip tint itself, fans focused their attention on the 'belly chain.' Waist beads have origins in ancient Egypt and West Africa, while waist chains can be traced to the Indian subcontinent. Many people, knowing this, claimed that Hailey's new product was a form of cultural appropriation. Even aside from that, fans criticized the Rhode belly chain for being an unnecessary (and impractical) cash grab - and made less than complimentary comparisons. 'This and the phone case are stupid as f**k to be honest, at this point she's just trying to sell SUPER unnecessary things, consumerism at its max,' one X (formerly Twitter) user wrote. 'Why would any woman want to wear there lip tint around the waist like that?' another asked. 'The phone case was cute but she's milking this concept now,' one fan wrote. 'It looks like a tampon holder,' shared another. 'Celebrities are crazy. This is the most unnecessary thing ever,' added a fourth. An hour after Hailey posted on her own personal Instagram, the official Rhode account posted a picture of the new lip tint with a caption explaining that the Lemontini Peptide Lip Tint would be the first with a new and improved formula. 'It was so important that we resolve the grainy feel that developed in some lip treats and tints over time,' the caption said. 'We took our time over the past two years by researching, experimenting, and testing to find a solution.' 'Our biggest upgrade was switching the Shea butter from a solid to a liquid form, ensuring it glides on smoothly and maintains a consistently even texture. 'Feels just like the original, with the same skincare benefits and a little more cushion and richness for a comfy application.' The new color featured a $2 price increase from the company's usual price of $18.

James Gunn: Some people will take offence at my new Superman
S uperman is back and has this divided, destructive world ever needed him more? The superhero was created by Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel — American sons of Jewish immigrants who first mentioned the character in a 1933 story about a villain who uses a mind-controlling drug to make money and mischief. Fast-forward 92 years and we have social media doing just that for us, and a Superman film has rarely felt more timely. The new movie comes to a planet that feels like it could do with a man who has the ability to turn back time. Superman, directed by James Gunn, is a triumph. After a long wait, this is the film the character deserves. In 1978 Richard Donner made us believe a man could fly when he picked Christopher Reeve as Kal-El, the Kryptonian who falls to Earth to become Clark Kent, and despite a superb sequel the franchise has since been a reboot slog of diminishing returns: Brandon Routh is forgotten, Henry Cavill is boring. Nobody seemed to know what to do with Superman until now.
