Greenville's Eassy steps up big for eventual BMW Charity Pro-Am champ
However, the biggest tournament he was involved in this spring wasn't as a player but, instead, as a caddie.
He was the emergency replacement for eventual BMW Charity Pro-Am winner Austin Smotherman's caddie Zach Williamson on Thursday (Carolina Country Club) and Friday (Thornblade Club) when Williamson was too ill to work. It was a random connection as Eassy and Smotherman had never met.
Smotherman made sure to heap praise on the former Mauldin High golfer Eassy after claiming his second Korn Ferry Tour win Sunday at Thornblade, giving a nod to Eassy's familiarity with the two courses played as comforting and emphasizing how smoothly things went.
Williamson returned to Smotherman's side for rounds three and four as Smotherman won the tournament at 25-under par.

Paula Martin Sampedro fires Sunday 68 to win low amateur honors at Women's British Open
Stanford's Paula Martin Sampedro put an exclamation point on her week in Wales with a back-nine 30 that included five consecutive birdies. The Spaniard, who played alongside two-time Smyth Salver winner Lydia Ko, closed with a 4-under 68 to zoom up the board and currently holds a share of eighth at 4 under. Her 30 on the inward nine is the lowest of the week by two strokes. "Honestly, even in the front nine the couple the bogeys she made, she got some really nasty lip-outs," said Ko. "At that point if a couple of those dropped it would've been an unbelievable round. Was still an unbelievable round, and it was fun to play alongside her today." Martin Sampedro wraps up the coveted Smyth Salver for low amateur honors as Carla Bernat struggled with a 78 on Sunday to finish at 9 over for the championship, while Jeneath Wong shot 82 to finish at 17 over. Martin Sampedro becomes the fourth Spanish player to win the award, joining Marta Figueras-Dotti (1982), Elisa Serramia (2003) and Luna Sobron (2015). Her coach and caddie for the week, Alejandro Larrazabal, won the British Amateur at Royal Porthcawl in 2002. "My first three, four holes were really rough," said Martin Sampedro. "There was no way I was getting two on 1, it's a par 4. Then the first four holes, with perfect conditions are already so hard, so I knew it was going to be a tough beginning. "And then just managed to keep calm and just hole a couple putts, and then I started to see the lines better ... it was definitely a good birdie stretch on the back nine." The list of recent Smyth Salver winners is packed with stars. The award, given to the low amateur at the AIG Women's British Open, has served as a strong indicator of future success, with names like Danielle Kang, Georgia Hall, Leona Maguire, Jeeno Thitikul, Ko, and most recently, Lottie Woad, receiving the honor. It's been a massive summer for Martin Sampedro, who won both the British Women's Amateur and European Ladies' Amateur Championship in Germany. The British Amateur victory exempts her into next year's championship. Martin Sampedro currently ranks third in the World Amateur Golf Ranking. Bill Belichick highlights impact of transfer portal on UNC's 2025 football roster
Exactly how many transfers joined the UNC football program this offseason? If you don't recognize many players on this year's UNC football roster, that's because of several 2024 departures and 2025 transfer portal additions. North Carolina will enter its highly-anticipated season with new starters across the board. The Tar Heels will have a new starting quarterback for the third-consecutive fall, a young wide receiver room and entirely new defensive line, which replaces every 2024 starter. On Saturday morning at UNC's first day of Training Camp, head coach Bill Belichick spoke extensively about his new team's roster overhaul, highlighting how he looked to fill positions through the spring portal. "We have a lot of new players, a little over 40 from the spring and 70 guys that weren't on last year's team," Belichick said. "The first portal, we're just trying to find guys to fill the team. Second portal, we're looking for good football players. We felt like any position, if the player wanted to come in and compete – and we thought it was a good player – then this is the right spot for him. We'll give everybody an opportunity to compete. We're going to have to earn our spots on the field.' One of North Carolina's latest portal additions is Boise State linebacker Andrew Simpson, who played a major role in helping the Broncos make their first-ever College Football Playoff appearance last season. Simpson started 11 games – and should slot in as a Day One starter for the Tar Heels. North Carolina didn't know if Max Johnson, its 2024 initial starting quarterback, would be ready by the start of training camp. The Tar Heels nabbed South Alabama quarterback Gio Lopez, who thrived in 2024 as a first-time starting QB, in the transfer portal.
