Police officers named in King's Birthday Honours
Sgt Tim Rogers, retired Det Ch Supt Sam Ridding and retired Det Supt Nigel Walsh were each awarded the King's Police Medal.
Ms Ridding was a response officer in Sutton Coldfield, before working her way up to lead the force's professional standards department.
Mr Walsh worked in counter terrorism, while Sgt Rogers supports and trains police drivers.
"Throughout their careers they have worked tirelessly to make a difference in policing and help others," said West Midlands Police Chief Constable Craig Guildford.
"This has ranged from assisting members of the public in their time of need, catching criminals and supporting colleagues."
He thanked the officers for their contributions, and said the honours were well-deserved.
Ms Ridding's career saw her take on roles investigating kidnapping, murders and corruption.
The force said she was widely known among colleagues for her tenacity and relentless work to secure justice for victims and bereaved families.
Mr Walsh worked in counter terrorism policing before his retirement earlier this year.
Bosses at the force said he had strengthened relationships between policing and security services nationally, and developed ways to protect communities against terrorism.
He has since returned to a staff role after retiring as an officer.
Sgt Rogers has been secretary of the West Midlands Police Federation, and led a national campaign for law changes to help protect officers in pursuit of suspects or assisting victims.

Woman shot inside property seriously injured
A woman suffered serious injuries when she was shot inside a property in Dudley, police have revealed. Two shots were fired inside the address on Priory Road, just after midnight on Thursday, West Midlands Police said. The woman, who was hit by one of the shots, was later taken to hospital, where she remains. Priory Road has been sealed off while investigators work at the scene, while the force has made an appeal for witnesses to come forward. Man attacked in Birmingham street prompts police CCTV appeal
A nasty attack in a Birmingham street left a man with injuries and police have now issued a CCTV appeal. The attack took place in Alum Rock Road on Saturday, May 24. A man in his 30s was said to have suffered injures to his face after being punched at around 3.30pm. Centenary Square latest after city centre area sealed off amidst 'suspicious package' reports
A major Birmingham city centre square was sealed off this afternoon, July 1, amidst reports of a suspicious package. West Midlands Police, British Transport Police and the Bomb Disposal Unit descended to the scene in Centenary Square in Birmingham just after 3pm. Members of the public were being warned to avoid the area around Centenary Square in Birmingham as a matter of urgency as police investigated and a number of buildings, including Baskerville House and the library were evacuated. Workers at Baskerville House confirmed to our reporter that they, and those in the library, had been evacuated due to the 'suspicious package' . A West Midlands Police spokesperson confirmed: "We've currently got a cordon in place around Centenary Square, Birmingham city centre, while we investigate a suspicious package. "We were alerted just before 3pm, and a number of buildings have been evacuated as a precaution while it's assessed. Please avoid the area." Some vehicles were trapped in Brindley Drive, inside the cordon. One woman - a teacher - said she'd been in her car for an hour and 10 minutes and was due to head to take a lesson for Year Seven children but she couldn't get out. One man who was attending a conference within the library building said they were asked to leave. Our reporter described a "calm" atmosphere as workers awaited updates from emergency services. Around ten minutes ago, just after 4:30pm, the cordon was lifted from the scene. We have contacted West Midlands Police for an updated statement now that the cordon has been lifted.
