Hyundai edges ahead as Tata, Mahindra lock horns for No.3 spot: Vahan data
India's car market has been quite active lately. From the growing demand for SUVs to more electric vehicles and feature-rich models, there's a lot going on. While Maruti Suzuki continues to lead in overall sales, Hyundai has managed to hold on to the second spot for two straight months, staying ahead of Tata Motors and Mahindra, who are close behind - Vahan data from June and July 2025 reveals. According to the latest data, Hyundai sold 42,661 units in July 2025, accounting for a 13.2% share of the market, a jump from 39,201 units (12.9%) in June. Maruti Suzuki, meanwhile, remains significantly ahead of the pack, registering 1,28,423 units in July, up from 1,18,218 in June, holding nearly 40% market share in both months. The real contest, however, continues to brew below the top two. Mahindra and Tata Motors are in close competition, with Mahindra clocking 41,476 units in July compared to Tata's 39,795 units. Tata Motors put up a significant comeback from June sales where it sold 35,344 units as against Mahindra's 42,314 units. Volkswagen Taigun facelift spied testing, launch expected in 2026
Volkswagen is preparing to give its Taigun midsize SUV a mid-life refresh, with the facelifted model recently spotted testing for the first time on Indian roads. The camouflaged prototype hints at cosmetic updates and added features, aligning with the brand's effort to keep the model competitive in the hotly contested midsize SUV segment. The updated Taigun is expected to go on sale by early 2026, following the launch of the Skoda Kushaq updatesThe spied test mule of the Taigun facelift was camouflaged primarily at the front and rear, indicating that these areas will see the most visual changes.
