Sandburn Hall among finalists in VisitEngland Awards for Excellence
Sandburn Hall is set on a 1,000-acre country estate and has a 40-bedroom hotel, an 18-hole championship golf course, a Grand Hall, and the Tykes Restaurant.
The VisitYork judges described Sandburn Hall as a "hotel with a clear identity and truly living its values."
They added: "Being family owned and independent is a real point of difference which gives the opportunity to create a unique atmosphere.
"Working with a number of local suppliers and attractions speaks to a commitment to the Yorkshire hospitality community."
Sandburn Hall is now up against the other finalists, Mallory Court Hotel & Spa and Titanic Hotel Liverpool, with the winner due to be announced at the Brighton Dome Corn Exchange on June 4.

Sandburn Hall recently won Large Hotel of the Year in the VisitYork Tourism Awards.

Bahrain: Woman Jailed And Deported For ‘Indecent' Social Media Posts
A woman has been jailed for a year and fined BD200 after broadcasting indecent videos to the public on social media, according to a statement from the Public Prosecution. The court also ordered her mobile phones to be confiscated and ruled that she be deported permanently once she serves her sentence. The Minor Criminal Court delivered its ruling in person after examining footage in which the defendant appeared in suggestive poses that prosecutors said went against public morals and the country's customs. Report The matter came to light following a report filed by the Cybercrime Directorate at the Ministry of Interior. Investigators had come across a publicly viewable account showing the woman in compromising positions and uploading material deemed inappropriate for general audiences. Prosecutors issued a warrant for her arrest. She was questioned shortly after being taken into custody and shown the footage. She admitted it was hers. The prosecution ordered her detention during the inquiry and seized the phone she used. She was then sent to court in custody, where the verdict was handed down.

Saudi Anti-Graft Authority Investigates 425 Employees, Detains 142 In July Corruption Cases
The Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) announced on Friday that it investigated 425 public employees and detained 142 individuals in corruption cases during July 2025. Some of those detained were later released on bail. In a statement, Nazaha said it carried out 2,354 inspection rounds and pursued a number of criminal and administrative cases throughout the month. The suspects and detainees include employees from the Ministries of Interior, Defense, National Guard, Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, Education, Health, Justice, Human Resources and Social Development, in addition to officials within the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority itself. Charges brought against them include bribery and abuse of power, according to the statement. Nazaha reaffirmed its commitment to combating corruption in all forms, stressing that accountability applies to all without exception, and that its efforts aim to safeguard integrity and strengthen trust in public institutions.
