, Andreessen said that being disagreeable was part of Jobs' genius. He said that the Apple founder would 'disagree with you over the shape of a glass on the table in front of you, he was going to argue about everything.' 'It was where a lot of the genius came from,' Andreessen added.
Revealing further about Steve Jobs, Andreessen said 'He was just not going to take the status quo for granted under any circumstances.'

During the podcast, the tech investor shared his views on Jobs, saying his reality personality was more balanced than often portrayed in books and stories. Andreessen stated that most accounts of Jobs fall into two extremes- either calling him a 'saint' or a 'screaming lunatic' who would yell at and fire employees at meetings.

"I think the reality was in the middle," Andreessen said.
"If you brought him first-class work, and if you were topping your field and super diligent, and on top of everything, and had all the details figured out, and knew what you were doing, and really good, he was like the best manager you were ever going to work with, and the best CEO you were ever going to work with," he added.
Andreessen further revealed that most people who worked with Jobs believe they did their best work under him. "His approach to performance management was 'everybody is going to be doing top-end work, if not, they're not going to be here. As a consequence, the best people in the world are going to love being here because they're surrounded by the best people in the world,'" he stated.

Govt notifies waqf rules to step up property registration and monitoring through central portal
Representative image NEW DELHI: Laying out a detailed process for uploading details of waqf properties registered with Waqf boards on the new Central Waqf Portal launched last month, the govt on Thursday notified the Unified Waqf Management Empowerment Efficiency and Development Rules 2025 dealing with the portal and database of waqf properties and the process for their registration, audit and maintenance of accounts. For instance, the Mutawalli (caretaker) of a waqf, existing on or before April 8, the date of commencement of the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025, will need to upload details like boundaries of waqf properties, their use and occupier; the name and address of the creator of the waqf, the mode and date of creation, the deed of waqf, if available; details of beneficiaries; the annual income from waqf properties and details of land-revenue, cesses, taxes payable annually and the purpose for which the waqf was created. The details of all existing waqf properties are to be uploaded on the portal within the stipulated six months as prescribed by the amended law. There are over 9 lakh waqf properties in India as per the data available with the ministry of minority affairs. Techno Mag Learn More Undo In what clearly shows that delays will not be allowed, the rules make it clear that if the Mutawalli fails to upload details within the stipulated timeframe, he will have to go to the tribunal to seek extension of time. After the Mutawalli files the details, the chief executive officer or any other officer authorised by the Waqf Board will verify the details of the waqf property and certify the authenticity of the information within a fixed timeframe. In case of registration of new waqf properties after April 8, 2025, the Mutawalli will file an application to the board for its registration within three months of its creation. A copy of the waqf deed will be required to be uploaded. In case of inquiry into wrongful declaration of waqf, the designated officer will complete the inquiry and submit their report within a period of one year from the date of reference made to him by the collector. As per the rules the joint secretary in the ministry of minority affairs in charge of the waqf division will be in-charge of the supervision of the portal and database which will include features for real-time monitoring of waqf properties, institutional governance, court cases and dispute resolution, financial oversight resource management and for surveys. Every state govt will have to appoint a nodal officer and establish a centralised support unit for providing assistance in streamlining uploading details of waqf, registration, maintenance of accounts, audit and other related activities of the waqf and the Board. The functioning of the portal and database shall be reviewed at the end of every financial year by an independent agency to be appointed by the central govt. The govt will have to publish the report of the agency and the action taken report on the recommendations of the agency on the portal and database within a period of three months from the date of submission of the report.

Policy thrust to grow manufacturing futile sans enhanced skills
As Apple Chief Tim Cook noted earlier, more than the cost advantage, the skill and expertise of Chinese assembly workers is something that cannot be found elsewhere. It means, in the absence of skilled talent that is found in abundance in the services sector, India woefully falls short in manufacturing. So it can only offer a cost advantage, which can also be found in, say, Vietnam or Indonesia. If China clamps down on the outflow of talent, technology and materials, India's manufacturing growth story will slow down. While building production lines is one aspect, the availability of talent is equally crucial. There is an urgent need for India to train workforces and develop the skill sets needed for high-end manufacturing. Besides, it is important to build supply chains and encourage domestic component makers for manufacturing to flourish. Though the government made some humble attempts through the Make in India initiative and Production-Linked Incentive scheme, they are evidently not enough to catch up with China. Manufacturing is integral to growth and has the potential to not only create jobs, but also boost exports beyond $1 trillion by 2030, according to some estimates. But despite efforts such as Make in India and PLI, the manufacturing sector's share of the GDP has been stagnant at about 14-17 percent for a decade now. We need coordinated efforts by both the government and industry to raise the share closer to the government's stated target of 25 percent. That's when India can truly shift away from being an import-dependent economy to a global production hub.

Wayanad township to be ready by Dec: Rajan
Kozhikode: Revenue minister K Rajan said the homes for Mundakkai–Chooralmala disaster survivors at Elstone Estate township will be completed by Dec 2025. The township will house over 1,662 people in 410 homes. Of these, 140 people have each received a seven-cent plot. Rajan said the govt spent Rs 108 crore on survivor rehabilitation. He also instructed the use of more machinery to clear landslide debris from Punnapuzha. The minister said Rs 3.6 crore was allocated for Kudumbashree's micro plan and Rs 43.7 crore was spent on land acquisition at Elstone Estate. A total of Rs 13.3 crore was given as compensation to the families of 220 deceased people and Rs 15.6 crore was provided to 104 people as financial support of Rs 15 lakh each instead of housing. For livelihood support, Rs 10.1 crore was given to 1,133 people. Another Rs 20 crore was approved for running the township's special office. Emergency aid of Rs 1.3 crore and rental support of Rs 4.3 crore were also provided. The minister said foundation work of 51 homes is complete. Dynamic cone penetration tests were done for 54 homes and plain cement concrete work was finished in 41. Rajan said the model home will be completed by the end of July. At present, 110 workers are working on site and more labourers will be brought in soon to speed up the work, he added. Responding to the concerns raised by people in Padavettikunnu who are not on the township beneficiary list, the minister said their requests would be examined. He assured that the government would not abandon disaster-affected families. He said that a separate bank account was opened to handle all financial transactions related to construction of the township. A monitoring committee including the chief minister, the opposition leader and sponsor representatives is overseeing the full process to keep it transparent.
