William Buick booked for Field Of Gold at Goodwood

Barry Mahon, Juddmonte's European racing manager, told the PA news agency: 'I think John and Thady were to talk to William yesterday to confirm his availability and it sounds like they've done that and he's free to ride him, so I'd say that's the plan.
'In fairness, until you get to within a week of the event you don't know what other trainers and jockeys are doing, but obviously William has been able to commit now which is good.
'He's a top-class rider and rode a Group One winner for us last October on board Kalpana, so it's good to have him on board.'
Field Of Gold is set to head a quality Juddmonte team bound for the Sussex Downs, with fellow three-year-olds Cosmic Year and Jonquil also poised for action.
The Harry Charlton-trained Cosmic Year was second to Field Of Gold in the Irish 2,000 Guineas before failing to fire in the Prix Jean Prat at Deauville, while Andrew Balding's Greenham Stakes winner and French Guineas runner-up Jonquil will step back up in trip after finding the six furlongs of the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot too sharp.
Field Of Gold's Lockinge-winning stablemate Lead Artist meanwhile holds a Sussex Stakes entry, but appears unlikely to be on the Goodwood squad.
'I'd say Cosmic Year will run in the Thoroughbred Stakes, the Group Three over a mile, at the minute that's the plan,' Mahon added.
'Jonquil worked nicely this morning and he's a probable to run in the Lennox over seven (furlongs).
'Lead Artist is in the Sussex, but I'd say he's more likely to wait. He won't run against Field Of Gold I'd imagine, so I'm not sure what the plans are for him at this stage.'

Now as a manager, he and his squad have their sights set on getting Hibs into the group stages of Europe for the first time. Gray, who will lead his side out against Midtjylland in Thursday's Europa League opening qualifier, acknowledged: 'Well that is the challenge, that's the challenge to the players. 'It's never been done so can we do it. 'Last season we spoke a lot about recreating history in a positive way, we've done a lot of that and I think this is just the next stage for that. 'As I've just touched on, that is one of the genuine goals and ambitions of this group of players in a club and the staff is to try and be the first team to do that. "I think if we can do that, again, it's just something else we can add to the list and then we can keep moving forward. 'We believe we can do it, we believe we've got a squad that's good enough to do it. 'It's going to be tough, we know that, but we've got a fan base, we've got an ownership and we've got the players all pulling in the one direction, all desperate to be successful.' Hibs' journey nearly didn't get off the ground. They had a problem with their plane and had a long delay before it was fixed and they were able to fly to Denmark on Wednesday. Gray stated: 'That is the benefit of coming the night before. Our flight was delayed, everybody knows that. "It changed our scheduling and our arrival time. That is why we put plans in place, so if anything does come up then we have time to react. The boys have prepared, they are ready and Thursday night takes care of itself.' Midtjylland go in as heavy favourites but Gray is confident his team can upset the odds and certainly to keep things alive, going back to Easter Road next week. There will be more than 1,000 Hibs fans in the MCH Arena to cheer on their side. The Hibs head coach added: 'That's the challenge to the players, it's a real tough draw, we know that. 'I think in terms of how well Midtyjlland have done in Europe, you think about the Champions League team, last season they were runner-up in the league narrowly right at the very end of the season so we know they're a very good side. 'They've got Champions League players experienced at the level but we also demonstrated that if we can play to the best of our ability, we're a very good side and that has to be the mindset of the players. 'The game tomorrow night is over two legs so it's not as if we go a goal up in the game early or a goal down for that matter, there's a lot of football to be played over the two games for the complete tie so it's about making sure that the players remember that, they stay calm in the chaos and the enjoy it because this is something that they've all worked hard for, the rewards from last season. 'I keep saying it, these are the rewards from last season, it's a tough tie but one that every player should be looking forward to and certainly come off the pitch with no regrets and if we can do that I'm sure we'll be in a good place.'

Thomas Thomasberg has walked big his assertion that the Danes would take care of the Hibees over two legs Midtjylland boss Thomas Thomasberg has reversed ferreted on his cocky claim his side will ease past Hibs – and even tried to blame someone else for saying it., writes Scott Burns in Denmark. In the aftermath of the Europa League draw, Thomasberg boasted the Danes will progress into the third qualifying round. But now he has stated David Gray' s side will present a stern challenge for his team. Thomasberg said: 'I have a feeling that somebody says it was an easy draw for us. Not at all. 'But we knew at that time we could have met Besiktas and Utrecht. 'Still with respect, I think that has been a tough opponent. But we also know that this will be tough. 'We are ready for what is waiting for us. Of course we have the experience. We have tried it before. 'Now it's the first one because when you need to go to the group stage, you play almost six weeks. 'Weekend and midweek. I think our players are used to it. But I also know that they have been waiting for this game. 'So they are looking forward to it. I know they will put everything in they can, with heart and brain.' The 50-year-old is now in his third season with Midtjylland and in his second spell as their manager. He knows the job comes with expectations, but is also well aware of possible European pitfalls. Thomasberg warned: 'Yesterday I saw Copenhagen. They suffered for a long period against a team from Kosovo (Drita). We know all games in Europe and teams have quality. 'We are really prepared and ready for a hard game.' He wants Midtjylland to make full use of home advantage. Thomasberg admitted: 'We're looking forward to the game. It's always a part of the club to be in Europe. 'We want to go to the group stage every year. This is the first game there and hopefully we can perform well. 'Hopefully, we can get a good start at home. A good start is of course a win. If it's possible to win with more than one. 'It is also about getting a lot of good in Europe. To get to the group stage. Because that's also a part of the way this club will go. So it is very important for us. 'And no matter who it is in these qualification games. There is only one aim. To get to the next round.' There is a slight element of the unknown for the Danes, as Hibs have still to play a competitive game. Thomasberg, though, is confident he will have every eventuality covered. He knows the threat of strikers Martin Boyle and Thibaut Klidge. He explained: ' Right now we have analysts who have had a good look at it. I have watched two games myself. 'They are a good and strong team. We need to do our best to get through to the next round. 'I have seen the game against Essen. There was a good atmosphere at the stadium, I think it was the club's 150th anniversary. 'I have watched some of the games last season. I think it was a home game against Rangers 2-2 at the end of the season. 'They are a good and strong team. They had a very good period after a tough start last season. 'I think they have players who really play with their hearts. They have good offensive players. 'They can get in the box well on set pieces. Like we always are saying, we can't underestimate them.'
