Land dispute led to bizman Khemka's murder: Police
The alleged shooter and the mastermind have been arrested and are currently being interrogated on a five-day police remand.
According to police, Ashok Sao, the alleged conspirator, and Umesh Yadav, the shooter, were arrested three days after the murder and sent to judicial custody in Beur Central Jail. They are now in remand till July 16. Investigators suspect a long-standing land dispute as the motive, although specific details regarding the disputed properties remain unclear.
During a search of Ashok's flat at Udaigiri Apartment under Kotwali police station, police recovered several land documents, a 9mm pistol, 17 bullets and Rs 6.5 lakh in cash.
Patna senior superintendent of police (SSP) Kartikeya K Sharma said, "The shooter had attempted to kill Khemka earlier on June 30. He made three previous attempts — two were foiled due to police patrols and the third failed due to rain. CCTV footage of his reconnaissance has also been recovered."

Police have obtained an audio recording of a heated argument between Ashok and Khemka, which has emerged as key evidence. Investigators believe more people may be involved in the conspiracy.
"Ashok and Khemka were locked in a property dispute for the past three years. Land transactions in Biharsharif (Nalanda), Fatuha and Daniyawan (Patna district) appear central to the conflict. Ashok told us Khemka ruined his business, which prompted him to plan a contract killing," Sharma said.
The SSP added that the clothes worn by the shooter during the attack have also been recovered. He added, "Umesh had been involved in contract killings for a long time, though police were unaware until now. His arrest revealed his past criminal activities."
Sharma also spoke about Vikas alias Raja, the alleged arms supplier, who was killed in a police encounter at Damaria Ghat in Patna in the early hours of July 8. "He was not just an arms dealer but also a contract killer. He had killed three to four people on contract," the SSP said.
The police are now examining Ashok's cellphone, WhatsApp chats, and seized documents to uncover further details of the property dispute and identify any additional conspirators.

60-year-old man assaulted by teen son dies in hosp
T'puram: A 60-year-old man, who was beaten up severely by his 19-year-old son, died while under treatment at a hospital in Neyyattinkara on Tuesday. The deceased is Sunil Kumar from Pattyakala in Venpakal. Neyyattinkara police arrested Sijoy Samuel from Pananinnayil over the incident under BNS Section 103 (for murder). Sunil and his wife had moved into a rented house at Venpakal due to his torture and the murder took place when they visited his house to provide food. The incident occurred on Friday, but the deceased told healthcare staff that the injury on his head was due to an accidental fall from staircase. Police confirmed it was a murder considering the nature of injuries. During questioning, the accused confessed to the crime. The statement of Sunil's wife also proved crucial. Pantheerankavu robbery: Cops recover Rs 39 lakh out of Rs 40 lakh robbed sum
Kozhikode: In a significant breakthrough in the case of robbing Rs 40 lakh from a bank employee at Pantheerankavu near Kozhikode, police have recovered Rs 39 lakh of the swindled amount. The money, part of the amount robbed by accused Shibin Lal, was found packed in plastic and buried in a plot about half-a-kilometre from his house at Pallipuram near Pantheerankavu. The robbery took place on June 11 and Shibin Lal was arrested three days later. At the time of the arrest, only Rs 55,000 was recovered and Shibin Lal claimed to have handed over ₹45,000 to a third accused, Dinaranju alias Kuttappi. The second accused, Shibin Lal's wife Krishnalekha, and Kuttappi were arrested on June 23. Shibin Lal and Krishnalekha misled officials at ESAF Bank by claiming that they had gold worth Rs 40 lakh pledged at a private firm. They produced fake receipts and convinced the bank to give them Rs 40 lakh in cash to take over the pledged gold and mortgage at ESAF bank. The bank staff came to Pantheerankavu with the required cash to reclaim the pledged gold from the firm where he had pledged it. It was only during a third custodial interrogation that he confessed and revealed the location where he had buried the money. Police said shortly after the robbery that Shibin Lal switched off all three of his mobile phones. He set aside Rs 1 lakh for his expenses and secretly buried the remaining Rs 39 lakh in a private property, before escaping to Palakkad. Feroke ACP A M Siddique said the breakthrough came following a tip-off that someone had approached a private financial institution on Shibin Lal's behalf, asking whether a Rs 35 lakh one-time settlement could be made in lieu of an outstanding ₹80 lakh loan. Another lead came from CCTV footage in Kondotti area which showed Shibin Lal travelling without the bag. After that Shibin Lal was questioned again during which he revealed the actual location.
