Emirates Group co-locates to world's largest solar-powered data centre

Partnership with Moro Hub will boost the Group's operational resilience and scalability
The Emirates Group has joined forces with Moro Hub, a subsidiary of Digital DEWA, for co-location services at the Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. Moro Hub is the world's largest solar-powered data centre, as certified by the Guinness World Records™.
The co-location signifies a major shift for the Emirates Group's robust technology infrastructure as the organisation prepares for its next big growth trajectory. The Group expects to start relocating its data centre from mid-2026 to Moro Hub, who will provide comprehensive co-location services, including rack space, power, cooling, equipment supply, and other associated services.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer said: 'Guided by the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, we continue to position Dubai as a global leader in sustainable digital innovation, fully aligned with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050. We are proud to strengthen the Group's sustainability journey with this strategic move to the world's largest green solar-powered data centre at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. This strategic alliance with the Emirates Group underscores Dubai's dedication to accelerating digital transformation and reinforcing its global standing in sustainable aviation. By joining forces with them, Moro Hub is set to drive sustainable economic growth and ensure a future powered by innovation and sustainability, thus cementing Dubai's leadership on the world stage.'
With this move, the Emirates Group will switch to clean energy to the tune of 3,000 megawatts annually, which is required to power the data centre. The agreement was signed in the presence of HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) by Michael Doersam, the Emirates Group's Chief Financial & Group Services Officer and Eng. Marwan Bin Haidar, Vice Chairman & Group CEO of Digital DEWA.

Both organisations share a common vision to position Dubai as a global leader in technology, innovation and sustainability. Waleed Bin Salman, Vice Chairman – Energy at Digital DEWA; Abdul Nasser Abbas, Board Member of Digital DEWA; Mohammed Bin Sulaiman, CEO of Moro Hub. HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer said: 'We are guided by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to enhance Dubai's positioning as a leading city driven by sustainability, innovation, and digital excellence. The certificate formally confirms that by hosting its IT workloads at Moro Hub's Green Data Centre, Dubai Municipality is set to achieve substantial reductions in carbon emissions, marking a significant milestone in environmental responsibility. These factories are powered by high-performance servers, accelerated computing, and strong partner integrations. According to Lenovo's Global CIO Playbook, two-thirds of organizations still struggle to see ROI from AI. Many face challenges in training, adoption, and technical scalability. With AI budgets expected to triple by 2025 reaching nearly 20% of IT spending Lenovo's enhanced infrastructure aims to fill that gap. Ashley Gorakhpurwalla, President of Infrastructure Solutions Group at Lenovo, stated that the company is driving innovation through integrated solutions. These solutions, built with trusted partners, are helping enterprises turn AI into reality with measurable productivity gains and increased data value. Lenovo reported a 40% year-over-year increase in AI adoption among global customers. The Lenovo Hybrid AI Advantage combines infrastructure, data, services, and use cases to activate AI across operations. Notably, Lenovo's AI Adoption and Change Management Services offer tailored support, including: AI People Readiness Assessments to evaluate workforce preparedness. Persona-based training programs to boost adoption and engagement. Copilot integration support for generative AI tools. Lenovo emphasized the importance of governance and cultural readiness to ensure responsible AI usage. Ken Wong, Executive Vice President and President of Lenovo's Solutions and Services Group, noted that strategic technology and expert guidance are key to realizing AI's potential. The company has already delivered real-world outcomes in sectors like aviation, healthcare, manufacturing, and hospitality. One recent success involved helping a leading airline enhance its AI-powered digital workplace in just three months. New validated AI solutions from Lenovo are now available, developed with partners such as Centific, NVIDIA, Avathon, WaitTime, Trifork, and Intel. These address use cases in hospitality, safety compliance, retail analytics, and manufacturing. Lenovo also revealed partnerships with Cisco, IBM, and NVIDIA to launch next-gen hybrid AI platforms. These include the new Lenovo ThinkSystem SR680a V4 with Intel Xeon 6 CPUs and NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs. The system offers up to 11x faster AI inferencing and 7x more computing power. Additionally, Lenovo's hybrid AI platform with IBM watsonx delivers ready-to-deploy infrastructure for generative AI. The Cisco-integrated platform supports enhanced networking and greenfield deployments, with improved AI performance through NVIDIA Spectrum-X. Lenovo confirmed that its solutions are designed for all stages of the AI journey whether starting out, scaling up, or optimizing. With an end-to-end hybrid AI portfolio, the company is enabling real business outcomes in the cloud, at the edge, and on devices.
