'All-round game can improve'

Yahoo13-02-2025
Bristol City forward Anis Mehmeti believes his "all-round game" can still improve after he scored both goals in the team's win against Stoke City.
Mehmeti now has 11 goals this campaign as the club's leading scorer, almost three times as many as the four he scored in the Championship during 2023-24.
"In terms of my all-round game, 100%, I can be more of a threat in one-v-one situations," Mehmeti told BBC Radio Bristol.
"The type of guy that I am, when everything's going well for me I look forward, and my downfall is probably when things ain't going too great, I dwell on it too much.
"I'm buzzing about hitting double figures now, and it's just about hitting as many goals as I can but also chipping in with assists, which I think I need to be doing."
The win against Stoke moved Bristol City up to seventh and came after defeat by Swansea on Sunday.
"I would probably describe it as a mature, professional win. We knew we had to win today because we lost on Sunday, so great reaction from the boys," Mehmeti said.
"I thought today in the final third we were much more fluid, much better combined."

A two-time Olympic gold medal winner, the 30-year-old from Flint Michigan, turned pro in November 2016. In her fourth pro fight, Shields earned the WBC and IBF super middleweight belts with a TKO win over Nikki Adler. Two fights after that, Shields won the vacant WBA and inaugural IBF middleweight titles with a decision victory over Hanna Gabriels. She added the WBC middleweight crown in November 2018 with a decision over Hannah Rankin. Then, in her ninth pro fight, Shields picked up the WBO middleweight belt with a 2019 decision over Christina Hammer. With that victory, Shields became the undisputed middleweight champ. In January 2020, Shields moved down to junior middleweight to face Ivana Habazin for the vacant WBC and WBO titles in that weight division. Shields won that contest via unanimous decision. Then, in March 2021, Shields became the undisputed junior middleweight champ when she defeated Marie-Eve Dicaire via unanimous decision. Shields then defended her middleweight titles three times between February 2022 and June 2023. In July 2024, Shields moved up in weight to face Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse. Shields won that fight by second-round TKO to become the WBC and WBF heavyweight champ. She was also named the WBO light heavyweight titleholder. In May 2023, Daniels earned the vacant IBF heavyweight belt with a unanimous decision over Alrie Meleisea. She has defended that belt once before dropping to light heavyweight, where she won the vacant IBF light heavyweight crown with a majority decision over Desley Robinson. Golden State Warriors' Stephen Curry squashes retirement talk

Stephen Curry will be entering his 17th NBA season in October. The veteran superstar, 37, continues to chase his fifth championship ring. Nevertheless, that hasn't stopped the topic of his eventual retirement from becoming a common discussion point during the offseason, after all, he is in the twilight of his career. During a recent interview with Complex, Curry once again discussed his plans for the future. He noted how he's "nowhere near" making the decision to walk away from the NBA and begin the next chapter of his life. Curry is under contract until the summer of 2027. "I just want to be in a position where I've accomplished where I can say that I've done everything I can to get everything out of this game," Curry said. "And hopefully, I have my health, and the choice to say 'I'm good.' I'm not anywhere close to that, though." Despite his advancing age, Curry is yet to show any signs of slowing down. He played in 70 regular-season games, averaging 24.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 6 assists while shooting 44.8% from the field and 39.7% from 3-point range. With Curry once again reiterating that retirement isn't on the immediate agenda, the Golden State Warriors will likely feel empowered to continue pushing the chips 'all-in' as they seek to give him and Draymond Green one final moment in history. Wrexham hold transfer talks with former Man Utd star

Wrexham are in talks with former Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen about a potential summer transfer. The 33-year-old is a free agent following the expiry of his Red Devils contract at the end of the 2024/25 campaign. Eriksen's agent, Martin Schoots, has revealed that the Welsh outfit have been in contact about a possible deal following their promotion to the Championship. The Denmark international would prefer to play with a top-flight club, whether that be in England or elsewhere, but Sky Sports News claim he is 'impressed' by the pitch made by Wrexham and their ambition. Wrexham hold transfer talks with former Man Utd star Christian Eriksen 'Wrexham are really upgrading everything both on and off the field, and it is a hugely impressive project, as you can see from the presence of people like (chief executive) Michael Williamson there,' Schoots told the Daily Mail. 'But Christian still wants to play in a first-tier competition and he absolutely wants to stay in Western Europe. There are some contacts going on but it has to suit both sides.' Under the stewardship of co-owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, Wrexham have experienced a phenomenal rise since 2020. They have won three successive promotions to take them from the National League to the Championship. Next season will be their first appearance in the second tier since 1982. Eriksen, who registered one goal and two assists in 23 Premier League appearances for Man Utd last season, would be arguably the biggest signing in the club's history if they manage to pull it off. The creative midfielder first arrived in the UK in 2013, joining Tottenham Hotspur from Ajax for an £11 million transfer. He went on to make 305 appearances in all competitions over the next six-and-a-half years, helping Spurs reach the UEFA Champions League final in 2019. In January 2020, Eriksen moved to Inter Milan, whom he helped reach the UEFA Europa League in his first season. The Nerazzurri won the Scudetto the following year. After suffering a cardiac arrest at Euro 2020, which was held in 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic, he was not permitted to play in Serie A due to the presence of a defibrillator he had implanted. Eriksen made his return in January 2022, joining Brentford as a free agent. He then went on to join Man Utd on another free transfer, winning the FA Cup and League Cup during his three-year stint at Old Trafford.
