Clouds take over capital: Delhi's July rain surpasses average; check IMD prediction for tomorrow
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city has received 220.2 mm of rain so far this month—surpassing the monthly normal of 209.7 mm. Since the start of the monsoon season on June 1, Delhi has recorded a total of 322.2 mm of rainfall, higher than the usual seasonal average of 270.1 mm. The monsoon reached the capital in late June.

Between 8:30 am and 2:30 pm on Tuesday alone, Safdarjung—Delhi's primary weather station—logged 68.1 mm of rain. Other parts of the city reported varying levels: the Ridge recorded 129.5 mm, Lodhi Road 71.8 mm, Pragati Maidan 45.5 mm, and Pusa 37.5 mm, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre.
IMD prediction for the upcoming week
The IMD has predicted that the ongoing rain is likely to persist for the next seven days, continuing through at least August 3. With overcast skies, the city experienced spells of on-and-off rain throughout the day.
Tuesday's maximum temperature dipped to 29.1 degrees Celsius, which is '5.8 notches below the season's average,' while the minimum was 26.8 degrees Celsius, according to IMD data.

Air quality also saw a slight improvement, with the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) recording an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 72 at 4 pm, placing it in the 'satisfactory' range.
As per CPCB classification, an AQI reading of zero to 50 is considered 'good', 51 to 100 'satisfactory', 101 to 200 'moderate', 201 to 300 'poor', 301 to 400 'very poor', and 401 to 500 'severe'.

IMD forecasts heavy rain in some West Bengal districts till Aug 10
Agency: Kolkata, Aug 5 (PTI) The IMD on Monday forecast heavy rain in some districts of West Bengal till August 10, owing to an upper air circulation over north Bangladesh and an active monsoon trough. Heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in the sub-Himalayan districts of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar and Alipurduar till August 10, the India Meteorological Department said in a bulletin. The south Bengal districts of North and South 24 Parganas, Howrah, Bankura and Purulia are also expected to receive heavy rain till the morning of August 8, it said. Light to moderate rain will occur in all the other districts of West Bengal, the IMD said in its forecast till August 10. Barrackpore in North 24 Parganas district recorded the highest rainfall in West Bengal in the past 24 hours till 8.30 am on Tuesday at 48 mm. Kolkata recorded 42-mm rainfall during the period, it said. The weatherman has forecast thunderstorms with lightning in Kolkata till August 8.
