Mega-Mansion Markdown: Milwaukee Brewers' Robert Beyer Cuts $20M From L.A. Asking Price
Milwaukee Brewers minority owner Robert Beyer listed his enormous Los Angeles Brentwood estate for $75 million almost two years ago. However, buyers never stepped up to the plate, forcing Beyer to cut $20 million off the asking price in June. The property first came to life when Beyer bought the 3.5-acre plot for $8.75 million nearly 25 years ago.
Along with wife, Catherine, the multi-millionaires constructed an eight-bedroom, 13-bathroom mega-home, adding opulent value they now hope to capitalize upon in their sale. Realtor.com fawns over the property, reporting spectacular grounds, with 'rolling meadows, olive trees, formal rose gardens, courtyards, water features, tennis courts, and sports courts."

Beyer says the acreage hosted a 'beautiful but dated ranch house" in the 1940s, characteristic of old Hollywood lore. He and his wife chose to update the structure, ripping the original structure from its foundation and building their dream home. They took the project one step further, adding acreage around the original parcel to "increase the home's footprint."
Ultimately, the couple constructed a 20,000 square-foot estate worthy of motion picture royalty.
Robert Beyer hob-nobs with L.A. elite, elected to the University of Southern California's Board of Trustees in 2021. He has chaired Crescent Capital, Chapparel Investments and TCW Group, managing assets in excess of $150 billion. That led to his minority stake in the Brewers in 2005, when an investor group took over ownership of the National League franchise. The team has posted a 1638- 1510 record since the wager, but hasn't been to the World Series since 1982.

Architect Bob Ray Offenhauser designed the Mediterranean estate, cutting stone from Mallorca and transporting it to Los Angeles. The first build was completed 20 years ago, at the same time Beyer bought into the Brewers. The couple cited 'empty nest syndrome' for putting the property up for sale in 2023, after their four children reached adulthood.
They relisted the property for $69.5 million in March 2024, according to public records, a $6 million haircut. That didn't generate a sale and another $5 million was slashed off the listing four months later. This give-and-take continued into February 2025, when the family retreated and kept the estate off the market until June's 26% price cut. Los Angeles fires, social unrest and a slowing national housing market have contributed to their most recent posting.The new listing argues for the high price, according to Realtor, calling it 'one of the most important estates in Los Angeles", largely because it sits on a flat piece of land. The glowing review adds 'the villa is in pristine condition with exquisite detail, extensive use of imported stone and exceptional steel windows/doors by Architectural Iron Works.'
Keeping it in the family, son Andrew Beyer is handling the sale for realty firm Carolwood Estates, along with colleague Drew Fenton. But they still haven't found a buyer for this luxurious Mediterranean estate, which also features a gourmet kitchen and catering kitchen, large gym, 1,200-bottle wine cellar, game room, oversized four-car garage, and a service building with separate entrance.

Lucid Air Goes 747 Miles on a Charge, Sets New Guinness World Record for EV Range
A new record for electric vehicle range on a single battery charge has been set, and it wasn't Tesla that secured the crown. Instead, California-based luxury startup Lucid now holds a Guinness World Record Holder for the longest journey by an electric car on a single charge, and the distance is genuinely impressive. Lucid managed to push its Air Grand Touring sedan to a distance of 747 miles in July, traveling between St. Moritz, Switzerland, and Munich, Germany. Previously, the record was set at 649 miles in June 2025 by a Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+ between two Japanese cities. This new record by Lucid is especially impressive considering the route between St. Moritz and Munich includes mountain passes, secondary roads, and highway driving. "This range record represents a significant milestone – it's yet another clear demonstration of the technological edge that defines Lucid," Eric Bach, senior vice president of product and chief engineer at Lucid, said in a statement. "Our Lucid products combine world-class vehicle efficiency with the most advanced drive units, ultra-high voltage architecture, and battery management technology available today." Now, the standard Lucid Air Grand Touring sports an EPA range of 516 miles, meaning this Guinness World Record was accomplished with unusual tactics of some sort. Lucid turned to Umit Sabanci, a London-based entrepreneur with the Guinness title of most countries visited on a single charge in a production battery electric vehicle, for consultation on how to stretch its luxury liner's capabilities. Sabanci's experience with traversing nine countries on a single charge in a Lucid Air Grand Touring seems to have brought driving insights and efficiency tactics, but it remains unclear if the Lucid Air Grand Touring used was tweaked in any way for this latest trip. "When I completed the nine-country journey in 2024, it was just the beginning," said Sabanci. "This new achievement takes that journey even further. I'm proud to be part of a movement that proves electric mobility isn't just the future; it's already redefining what's possible today." Driving 749 miles without stopping generally takes at least 12 hours, a feat that we're physiologically impressed by to say the least. That distance does give you a wide range of city-to-city connections in the continental U.S. A single charge and some judicious use of the right pedal could ferry you between New York City and a Waffle House in Columbia, South Carolina in an Air Grand Touring. Similarly, it's just about the driving distance between San Diego and California's border with Oregon. Could LeBron James have thrived in the NFL if he had chosen to take his talents to the gridiron instead of the hardwood? Los Angeles Rams star wide receiver Davante Adams certainly thinks so. "He would have been one of the best receivers, tight ends of all time. No question," Adams said during a recent appearance on the "Dan Patrick Show." Adams cited James' speed as one of the reasons he would succeed in the NFL. "He can fly too. That's the thing. He's one of the fastest NBA players probably of all time," Adams said. "I've never seen somebody cover space on a basketball court. Maybe John Wall? Derrick Rose? Somebody like that, but he's up there with all of them." At six-foot-nine and 250 pounds, James certainly has the size to play tight end or wide receiver in the NFL, as he is bigger than some of the best to ever do it. James previously said his comparison on the football field would have been a combination of Randy Moss and Rob Gronkowski. "Probably like a mix between, you know, (Rob Gronkowski) or Randy Moss a little bit, but he's a lot smaller than me. He runs a lot faster, but he's a lot smaller than me," James said during an appearance on "New Heights" in March. The 21-time NBA All-Star compared his build to Hall of Famer Calvin Johnson, as James said they have "that same stature as far as build." James also brought up Tony Gonzalez, who played college basketball before eventually turning into a tight end and had an illustrious 17-year career in the NFL that ended in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. "Maybe Tony Gonzalez, with his size, and obviously he played basketball as well. I used to love his celebration when he used to dunk on the goal post too," James said. The Lakers star said he only "seriously" considered joining the NFL in 2011, during the NBA lockout. Adams would certainly know what makes a good receiver, as the six-time Pro Bowler has been a top wide receiver in the NFL in his 11-year career. In 164 career games, Adams has 957 career catches for 11,844 yards and 103 touchdowns. Last season, across 14 games with the New York Jets and Las Vegas Raiders, Adams had 67 catches for 854 yards and seven touchdowns. Adams signed with the Rams this offseason and gives the team one of the league's best wide receiver duos alongside star Puka Nacua.
