Urban Company ties up with Noon to expand at-home services in UAE, Saudi Arabia

Urban Company primarily functions within two major categories: beauty and wellness, and home repairs and maintenance.
In the UAE, it will provide a range of services including cleaning and laundry; AC, plumbing, and electrical repairs; at-home salon, massage, and grooming services for both men and women; as well as babysitting, pet care, ironing, and packing. In Saudi Arabia, the offerings will include home cleaning, maintenance, and at-home massage and nail care services for women.
'With Urban Company's quality and Noon's reach, we're building a new standard for on-demand services — fast, reliable, and built around the customer,' said Faraz Khalid, chief executive, Noon. On April 28, Urban Company filed the draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) for a Rs 1,900-crore initial public offering (IPO). The company has trimmed the overall IPO size from an earlier planned Rs 3,000 crore.

In the first nine months of FY25, Urban Company clocked operating revenue of Rs 846 crore, marking a 41% year-on-year (YoY) growth, ET had reported. The company also turned profitable in this period, posting a net profit of Rs 242 crore, against a loss of Rs 58 crore in April-December 2023.

Milford Entities of NYC allegedly scammed out of $19M — thanks to single phishing email
A well-known city firm that owns and manages luxury properties was allegedly scammed out of nearly $19 million thanks to a single phishing email, The Post has learned. Milford Entities/Management Company — whose tony properties include Liberty View and Liberty Luxe in Battery Park City — was the victim of thieving cybercriminals in early July, sources and emails show. The 'spoofing'' email led to the gargantuan sum getting accidentally transferred to a TD Bank account posing as the Battery Park City Authority, according to sources with knowledge of the situation and the internal correspondence. Google Maps The Department of Homeland Security is now leading a multiagency task force investigating the whopping fraud, according to sources and emails obtained by The Post. 'Last month, Milford Management was the victim of a fraud involving the theft of funds through the creation of a fraudulent bank account in the name of the Battery Park City Authority,' the Manhattan-based company said in a statement. Advertisement 'The theft involved buildings directly owned by Milford Management-related entities, as well as others the company manages,' it said. 'As this fraud is the subject of an ongoing law enforcement investigation, we will have no further comment on the matter.' The BPCA — a state entity that maintains and develops the Hudson River-side Manhattan neighborhood — confirmed it did not receive the company's quarterly payment due in early July. The luxury real estate firm transferred money to an account posing as the Battery Park City Authority. PILOT fees — or 'Payment In Lieu Of Taxes' — are essentially property taxes paid by condo owners to their building, which then sends the funds to the BPCA to cover operations. Milford Entities owns three buildings in Battery Park City and is the management company of at least six others in the trendy downtown neighborhood — collecting PILOT fees and ground-lease payments from more than 2,000 units. Advertisement The board of managers at one luxury Battery Park residential tower managed by the firm was informed July 18 that $3.5 million worth of its quarterly dues were lost in the scam, an email shows. The BPC Homeowners Coalition, a non-profit composed of elected members representing 18 condos and 5,000 homeowners in the neighborhood, also sent out an email obtained by The Post warning residents in buildings unaffected by the scam to review their cybersecurity policy. 'This appears to have been the first cyber-attack in BPC, but it will not likely be the last,' the letter said. Justine Cuccia, president of the BPC, wrote, 'This is time for open, verbal dialogue between the condominium Boards, as this could have happened to any one of our building management agents, and so, to any one of us.'' BPCA said in a statement to The Post, 'The Battery Park City Authority has been made aware of a cyber incident resulting in payment issues that affected several buildings in Battery Park City. 'BPCA was not involved in this incident and its operations are not impacted. 'BPCA will continue to work with residents of the affected buildings, the property management company, and law enforcement agencies as the investigation continues.' DHS did not respond to The Post's request for comment.

Former Better Government Association CEO Andy Shaw lists Loop condo for nearly $600,000
Former WLS-Channel 7 political reporter and retired Better Government Association president and CEO Andy Shaw and his wife, Mary, in early June placed their two-bedroom, 1,430-square-foot condo on the 16th floor of a Loop tower on the market for $599,900. Shaw was an award-winning political reporter at ABC 7 for 25 years before changing careers and heading the BGA from 2009 until 2018. He and his wife paid $570,000 in 2018 for the Loop condo. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, however, Shaw told Elite Street that he and his wife had been living 'pretty much full-time' in their large house in southwest Michigan, and that the extra space in that home 'was perfect for accommodating kids and grandkids who came here for work, school and kid care help.' Then, with his only Chicago-based family moving from Logan Square to Hyde Park — an easy ride from Michigan — 'the condo became totally extraneous,' he added. Shaw's condo, which is in the Legacy at Millennium Park building, has two bathrooms, a den, plus south, east and west exposures. It also has a kitchen with Sub-Zero and Bosch appliances, along with granite countertops and a large breakfast bar. Shaw said he has nothing but praise for the building. 'We loved the location near restaurants, culture, entertainment and the CTA to everywhere, plus the great staff, amenities like a gym, pool, hot tub and library, and as for the comfortable unit — it has a guest bedroom, office and a view of Millennium Park and the lake,' he said. 'It's hard to beat.' Shaw said that his wife pointed out that 'with multiple intellectual, cultural and entertainment activities in the building, easy interior access to the University Club and proximity to excellent medical facilities, it would be a perfect building for aging-in-place. But COVID made our Michigan home a better choice.' Chuck Gullett of Best Chicago Properties LLC has the listing. The Shaws' unit had a $11,509 property tax bill in the 2023 tax year. It also comes with $1,054-a-month homeowners association dues.
