Messi and his wife had a MUCH better time on infamous Coldplay 'kiss cam'

USA Today6 hours ago
These days, getting caught on the Coldplay concert kiss cam isn't necessarily the best thing (that is, if you're allegedly hiding something).
But when you're Lionel Messi, the world's best soccer player, and you're with your wife, it's not bad! In fact, you might get sung to by the band's Chris Martin!
That's what happened on Sunday, with Messi and wife Antonela appearing on the kiss cam and getting these words from Martin: "Well Leo, my beautiful brother, you and your wife are looking so fine. Thanks for coming today, to see our band play. The number one sports person of all time!"
It was all smiles and waves from Messi and Antonela. Everyone loved it. Suffice it to say, they had a MUCH better time than others have had on the Coldplay kiss cam.
This comes days after Martin's ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow appeared in a hilarious video for Astronomer that winked at the other viral moment that made headlines.

Gwyneth Paltrow Joins Astronomer as ‘Temporary Spokesperson' After Coldplay Kiss Cam Scandal

Gwyneth Paltrow is stepping in — temporarily — to help clear the air about Astronomer. On Friday (July 25), the Academy Award-winning actress and Goop founder appeared in a humorous new video for the tech company. The ad follows a viral incident involving former CEO Andy Byron and HR executive Kristin Cabot, who were caught on a Coldplay kiss cam during the band's Boston concert earlier this month. 'Thank you for your interest in Astronomer,' Paltrow says in the video, seated casually at a desk. 'I've been hired on a very temporary basis to speak on behalf of the 300-plus employees at Astronomer. Astronomer has gotten a lot of questions over the last few days, and they wanted me to answer the most common ones.' As questions flash on-screen — including 'OMG! What the actual f—' and 'How is your social media team hold-' — Paltrow offers responses that hilariously sidestep the actual drama. 'Yes, Astronomer is the best place to run Apache Airflow, unifying the experience of running data, ML and AI pipelines at scale,' she says cheerfully after the first inquiry. 'We've been thrilled so many people have a newfound interest in data workflow automation.' When the second question begins being typed out on screen, appears the Shakespeare in Love star shifts gears again, plugging the company's upcoming Beyond Analytics event in September. 'We will now be returning to what we do best, which is delivering game-changing results for our customers,' Paltrow concludes. 'Thank you for your interest in Astronomer.' The ad arrives in the wake of the July 15 Coldplay concert at Boston's Gillette Stadium, where a jumbotron caught Byron with his arm around Cabot during a kiss cam segment. When the pair realized they were on screen, Byron ducked out of view while Cabot quickly turned away. Both were married to other people at the time and have since resigned from the company. 'Oh, look at these two,' Martin joked from the stage. 'Oh, what? Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy.' Check out Astronomer's ad starring Paltrow below on X. Coldplay's Chris Martin Bounces Back From Astronomer Kiss-Cam Scandal With Sweet Serenade of Soccer Legend Lionel Messi & Wife

There's more news about Coldplay's infamous 'kiss-cam,' except this time the happy couple caught canoodling were all smiles. In the wake of the mega-viral Astronomer scandal in which the CEO Andy Byron resigned after getting caught hugging an HR employee during a Coldplay gig in Boston earlier this month, during the band's gig in Miami Gardens, Fla. on Sunday night (July 27) soccer legend Lionel Messi was caught grinning ear-to-ear and waving when the cameras zoomed in on him and wife Antonela Roccuzzo enjoying the show. As fans started chanting 'Messi! Messi!' for the Inter Miami FC football star, singer Chris Martin busted out a spontaneous musical homage to the hometown hero, crooning, 'Well, Lio, my beautiful brother/ You and your wife are looking so fine/ Thanks for coming today to see our band play/ The No. 1 sportsperson of all time.' In that now-infamous clip, the CEO was seen embracing the tech company's now-former HR officer, with both of them quickly ducking out of frame to avoid the cameras once they realized they'd been kiss-cam'd. 'Whoa, look at these two. All right, come on. You're OK. Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy. I'm not quite sure what to do,' Martin joked at the time. In addition to becoming an instant, inescapable global meme and cautionary tale, the incident has also inspired an quick turn-around online novella, Caught on the Jumbotron. According to a description of the instant book uploaded to online reading app Galatea, 'When Ellie discovers her husband — tech CEO Derek Brighton — locked in a scandalous embrace with his head of HR live on the Jumbotron at a Goldray concert, her world implodes. Heartbroken, Ellie walks away from the betrayal—and straight into the spotlight. Enter Leo Voss, the undeniably sexy, tattooed lead singer of Goldray.' The story then follows a backstage encounter that blows up into an 'whirlwind romance' between the 'leather-clad rock god' and his new muse. 'Together they're unstoppable. But as Ellie rediscovers her voice, the media frenzy surrounding her reaches a fever pitch,' it reads. 'Then Leo's ex-wife re-appears, and Ellie must risk another public heartbreak. The last thing she needs is to make her life messier. Will she choose a love that doesn't play by the rules?' After wrapping up the latest North American leg of the three-year tour, Coldplay's record-setting Music of the Sphere's world outing will reboot in mid-August with yet another run of shows in their native U.K., including a 10-night final run at London's Wembley Stadium. Ryan Reynolds' Maximum Effort ad agency turned Astronomer's viral moment into marketing gold

Ryan Reynolds' Maximum Effort production company was involved with the latest Astronomer video featuring Gwyneth Paltrow. The ad is being hailed as a master class in crisis PR. It comes days after the former CEO and former head of HR were seen embracing at a Coldplay concert. Astronomer might have gotten the last laugh following the viral moment that caught its former CEO and former head of HR in an embrace at a Coldplay concert. And it has, in some ways, Ryan Reynolds to thank for that. Late Friday, Astronomer released a video featuring Gwyneth Paltrow (who was formerly married to Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin), who was hired as a spokesperson on a 'very temporary basis.' In the humorous clip, Paltrow answers questions such as 'OMG, what the actual f' and 'How is your social media team holding…' by promoting the company's services and upcoming analytics event. If the tongue-in-cheek approach—from the phrasing of the questions to Paltrow's blithely chipper answers—seems to have a Ryan Reynolds tinge to it, that's because the ads were created by Reynolds' Maximum Effort production company. The company confirmed its participation in the ads on Sunday in a post on social media, writing, 'Thank you for your interest in Maximum Effort, @astronomerio! We'll now get back to what we do best: motion pictures with Hugh Jackman, Fastvertising and Wrexham football,' the post said. 'We'll leave data workflow automation to Gwyneth Pa Astronomer.' Pete DeJoy, Astronomer's cofounder, who stepped in as CEO after Andy Byron's resignation following the kiss cam incident, thanked Maximum Effort in a LinkedIn post Sunday. 'I'd also like to thank the team at Maximum Effort for their remarkable work with our very temporary spokesperson,' DeJoy said. 'As Gwyneth Paltrow said, now it's time for us to return to what we do best: delivering game-changing results for our customers. We look forward to what this next chapter holds for Astronomer.' Maximum Effort, founded in 2018, has made a name for itself with its irreverent video spots, some of which are ads, some of which are simply meant to amuse. It also coproduced the films Free Guy and Deadpool & Wolverine. The Paltrow video has been viewed more than 36 million times on X/Twitter alone, with more than 150,000 likes. It has another 534,000 views on YouTube to date. This story was originally featured on Solve the daily Crossword
