Over 3.52 lakh perform Amarnath Yatra in 21 days
Officials added that the number of Yatris performing the Shri Amarnath ji Yatra during the last 21 days since it started on July 3, has crossed the expected figure of 3.50 lakh.
"Another batch of 2,896 Yatris left Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu on Friday in two escorted convoys for the two base camps."
"First escorted convoy of 42 vehicles carrying 790 Yatris left at 3:30 a.m. for Baltal base camp while the second convoy of 75 vehicles carrying 2,106 Yatris left at 4:18 a.m. for Pahalgam base camp," officials said.
'Chhari Mubarak' (Lord Shiva's Holy Mace) was taken to the historic Shankaracharya Temple in Srinagar for customary Puja on Thursday by a group of Sadhus led by Mahant Deependra Giri.
The Puja at Shankaracharya Temple is held each year on the occasion of 'Haryali-Amavasya' (Shravan Amavasya) as per the age-old customs.
On Friday, the Chhari Mubarak will be taken to the 'Sharika Bhawani' Temple atop the Hari Parvat hillock in Srinagar for customary Puja.
Chhari Mubarak will start its final journey towards the cave shrine from Dashnami Akhara temple in Srinagar on August 4 and will reach the holy cave shrine on August 9, marking the official conclusion of the Yatra.
Authorities have made extensive multi-tier security arrangements for this year's Amarnath Yatra, as this takes place after the cowardly attack of April 22 in which Pakistan-backed terrorists killed 26 civilians after segregating them based on faith in the Baisaran meadow of Pahalgam.
Additional 180 companies of Central Armed Police Forces have been brought in to augment the existing strength of the Army, BSF, CRPF, SSB and the local police.
The Army has deployed more than 8,000 special commandos to secure the passage of the pilgrims this year.
The Yatra started on July 3 and will end after 38 days on August 9, coinciding with Shravan Purnima and Raksha Bandhan.
Devotees approach the holy cave shrine situated 3,888 metres above sea level in the Kashmir Himalayas either from the traditional Pahalgam route or the shorter Baltal route.
Those using the Pahalgam route pass through Chandanwari, Sheshnag and Panchtarni to reach the cave shrine, covering a distance of 46 km on foot. This trek takes a pilgrim four days to get to the cave shrine.
Those using the shorter Baltal route have to trek 14 km to reach the cave shrine and return to the base camp the same day after having darshan.
No helicopter services are available to Yatris this year due to security reasons.
The cave shrine houses an ice stalagmite structure that wanes and waxes with the phases of the moon.
Devotees believe that the ice stalagmite structure symbolises the mythical powers of Lord Shiva.

With the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and other security agencies taking on expanded roles, certain changes have already been initiated, albeit temporarily for now. 'Last month, from total nine locations, CRPF was replaced by CISF which also includes Raj Bhawan and jails. We were told that this was done for a limited period, but later there were changes in the decision," a senior officer deployed in J&K told News18 on the condition of anonymity. While the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has been assigned static security responsibilities, the CRPF is poised to take on a more significant operational role. High-level officials suggest that the CRPF's presence may be expanded to areas where it previously had minimal or no independent operational footprint. 'In parts of jungle areas of J&K, CRPF is now actively creating its footprints. Senior officers are getting deployed for a good longer span with troops for operations. The tactical area of responsibility will get further increased with the help of J&K Police. Rashtriya Rifles, which dominates the area, is likely to get other key roles and areas of responsibility," a senior government official aware of the development told News18. Sources said the CRPF has already started camping in areas where it previously had minimal presence. The focus area would be the Pir Panjal range, where security force deployment is likely to see major changes. The umbrella plan has a detailed deployment extension with coordinated operational areas. Meanwhile, the BSF is likely to take charge of security in areas close to the border, and its troops will receive enhanced responsibilities. Sources added that the BSF, which played a highly praised role in Operation Sindoor, will be given additional responsibilities due to its longstanding familiarity with the border areas. 2 Dead In Stampede After Panic Over Electric Shock At UP Temple
Two devotees died and 29 others suffered injuries in a stampede at a temple in Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki. The stampede erupted over an electric shock in the temple premises, causing panic among devotees and resulting in a stampede. The incident occurred at the Awsaneshwar Mahadev temple on the intervening night of July 27 and 28, during a ritual, when devotees were offering water to Lord Shiva. On Sunday night, at the Awsaneshwar Mahadev temple in the Haidergarh area of the Barabanki district, devotees gathered for the 'Jalabhishek' - a ritual of offering water to deities, particularly Lord Shiva, as a form of worship and purification. It is often performed during Sawan, especially on Mondays. Jalabhishek started at midnight amid a huge crowd of devotees, who had gathered to participate in the ceremony on the third Monday of Sawan. At around 2 am, reports of electric shock spread, causing a stampede. According to the District Magistrate, some monkeys jumped on the electric wire passing above, due to which the wire broke and fell on the shed of the temple premises. This caused an electric shock. Chaos ensued, with people running here and there, trying to save their lives. Two of the devotees reportedly died on the spot, while 29 others were injured and taken to the Haidergarh and Trivediganj Community Health Center. Those who suffered serious injuries were rushed to the district hospital. "All except one patient brought to the Haidergarh Community Health Centre have been discharged," said Awadhesh Kumar Yadav, Chief Medical Officer, Barabanki. "Ten people were brought to Trivediganj CHC, of which two were declared brought dead. The remaining are stable and being treated," he added. Police were reportedly already present at the temple, considering the safety of the large gathering. A heavy police force was deployed after the news of the stampede broke. A similar incident was reported from Haridwar's Mansa Devi Temple, where eight people died and 30 devotees suffered injuries in a stampede on Monday. The stampede occurred on the staircases on the temple road leading to the main temple. Cops suggest rumours about potential electrocution caused panic among the crowd and led to the stampede.

BSF gets 5k body cameras, biometrics capturing devices for Bangladesh border
