Oklahoma mum charged with murder after ‘drunken sleep' ends in newborn's death

A shocking tragedy has emerged from Oklahoma City where 33-year-old Brennan Spencer has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of her infant son, RK. The incident took place in 2024, but charges were formally filed just last week.
Oklahoma mum charged with murder after tragic death of newborn
According to an arrest affidavit, Spencer spent the night of November 1 drinking White Claws with her partner, James Kelson, at their home. The couple reportedly split a 12-pack before midnight. Kelson told police that after they drank, Spencer took their newborn twins—RK and LK—to bed with her while he turned in for the night.
Police arrested a woman who they claim struck a mother and her two children during a fireworks display, killing a 3-year-old boy, and drove away, all without a valid license.https://t.co/tAebtjlji0
Spencer later told investigators that Kelson had asked her to buy more alcohol, leading her to a nearby 7-Eleven. Surveillance footage confirmed she left the store at 1:27 a.m. with four "tall boy" cans of White Claw.
But instead of returning to the bedroom, Spencer passed out on the living room couch with one of the twins in her arms.
Infant found dead at her feet
Kelson awoke at 6:45 a.m. to find Spencer and the babies missing. He found her on the living room couch, holding their daughter while their son lay lifeless at her feet. Paramedics arrived quickly but declared RK dead at the scene.
The medical examiner later determined that the child died from 'asphyxia due to an unsafe sleep environment.' A child abuse specialist reported that Spencer's high level of intoxication likely contributed to the death and that if RK had been placed in a bassinet, he would likely still be alive.
'Probably really drunk,' she told police
During a police interview, Spencer admitted she had been 'probably really drunk' and said she had passed out shortly after returning home. Officers discovered 15 empty alcohol cans in the home, including the four she had purchased hours before RK's death.
Despite the gravity of the charges, Spencer's partner Kelson continues to support her and recently took to Facebook to request legal assistance, calling the situation a tragic accident.
Spencer remains behind bars on a $500,000 bond and is due in court for a preliminary hearing on August 5.

"Pure Racism": Woman Who Helped Indian Man After Mob Attack In Ireland

Dublin: The Indian man, who was brutally attacked by a mob in Ireland's Dublin over the weekend, was falsely accused of being a paedophile before being stabbed in the face and stripped naked, according to the woman who rescued him. The incident occurred on Saturday evening in the Tallaght area in south-west Dublin, when a "gang of around 10 teenagers-- 15 to 16 years in age-- attacked him." In an emotional Facebook video, Jennifer Murray, the Irish woman who helped the Indian man, narrated the horrific details of the attack and said it wasn't the first racial incident in the area. "At least four Indian men and another man have been facially stabbed by this gang of teenagers in the last four days in Tallaght," she said in the video posted on July 20. "Your teenagers are going around stabbing innocent men in the face," she said. Murray said she was driving past a roundabout on Parkhill Road area on Saturday evening when she saw a crowd of around 30 adults and teenagers standing at a stop. When she stopped her car and got near, she saw a man there, covered in blood from "head to toe." "I saw this man standing there. His entire body was covered in blood. The blood was pouring from his head," she said. The Irish woman said the man asked for help and said, Please help me, please save me." She said she asked the crowd to step aside, took him to his car, gave him shorts and a blanket to cover himself while they waited for an hour for the police and ambulance to arrive. "They punched him in the head with what I can only say were blades between their knuckles. He went down, completely covered in blood. He's got massive injuries. The blood did not stop flowing from his nose the whole hour I sat with him," she recalled. She recalled that the victim was too traumatised and embarrassed to speak clearly. "He was so extremely polite to me the whole time. I gave him a blanket to cover himself up. He was so embarrassed and shocked," she said. Murray said the man, who looked to be in his 40s, told her that he was walking down to a temple when he was attacked from behind by "these absolute scumbags". "They stripped him of his clothes. They took his trousers off him. They took his underwear. They took his shoes. They took his phone. They took his bank cards. They took everything. They left him for dead... they very, very easily could have killed him with what they did," she said. According to the woman, the gang that attacked the Indian man concocted a fake story about him being a pedophile who was found with his pants down in a playground to justify their attack. However, that narrative was soon rejected by her, as the man was "miles" away from that playground. Murray repeatedly emphasised that the man was "very nice", "polite" and "gentle" as she accused the attackers of cooking up a narrative so the community would turn a blind eye to their racially-motivated attack. "I knew that man had not done that. I knew straight away," she said. Murray said the Indian man told her he was an Amazon employee and arrived in Ireland only a week ago. He has a wife and an 11-month-old baby back home in India, and was staying in Dublin at a friend's family. In a statement to The Journal, Murray said she believed the incident was "pure racism, leading to innocent people being attacked."

Kerala man who claimed judges working under Sangh influence gets 3 days in jail for contempt of court

A division bench of the Kerala High Court recently sentenced a person to undergo three days of imprisonment and pay a fine of Rs 2,000 in a suo motu contempt of court case registered on charges of publishing contemptuous and intemperate remarks against the judges on social media. The convicted person, P K Suresh Kumar, a resident of Alangad in Ernakulam district, had made a series of social media posts about high court judges. While the court convicted Kumar on July 16, the bench of Justices Raja Vijayaraghavan and Jobin Sebastain noted that he had faced a similar contempt of court case for making scandalous statements against a judge, but was discharged after he tendered an unconditional apology. In the suo motu proceedings initiated against Kumar, the court noted that the accused had stated that the judges comprising the devaswom (temple affairs) bench of the high court were functioning under the influence of the Sangh Parivar and other external agencies, and that judgments were being rendered to appease such factions. In another Facebook post, he had alleged that a judge of the high court had publicly endorsed the Sangh Parivar and participated in events organised by such groups, purportedly to secure favour from them. Finding that the accused person committed criminal contempt by scandalising the court with mala fide intent, the judge said, 'The shoulders of the court are broad enough to shrug off certain comments, and there cannot be any dispute on the same. While fair and temperate criticism is protected, criticism based on distortion, falsehood, and aimed at vilifying the institution cannot be countenanced. The comments made by the respondent cannot be categorised as an isolated or inadvertent remark,'' said the court in its order.
