Racing NSW puts 2025 The Everest slot up for sale
There's a prime piece of racing 'real estate' up for sale – and it has nothing to do with Rosehill racecourse.
Racing NSW is inviting 'interested parties' to submit Expressions of Interest to acquire a vacant slot in the $20 million The Everest.
The slot being offered had previously been owned by The Star since the inception of The Everest in 2017.
An Everest slot is valued at a minimum $700,000 per year and Racing NSW has stipulated potential slot buyers need to invest for a minimum of three years.
The Expression of Interest process will close on May 30 and those interested in the slot have to 'illustrate their proposed commercial terms and to also show how their offer will benefit the growth and engagement of The Everest and thoroughbred racing generally.'

There are only two slots filled so for The Everest, run at Royal Randwick on October 18, with the Team Hawkes-trained Briasa snapped up by slot-holders Max Whitby, Neil Werrett and Col Madden, while Private Harry will race in the slot of part-owners Yulong.
But Sunshine In Paris, owned by John Camilleri's Fairway Thoroughbreds which also has an Everest slot, could move closer to confirming her place in The Everest field if she runs well in the Group 1 $1.5 million Doomben 10,000 (1200m) at Doomben on Saturday.

Camilleri said earlier this week that a decision on rising six-year-old mare Sunshine In Paris' racing future will be made after Saturday's Group 1 sprint.
Sunshine In Paris, who ran a close fifth in The Everest last spring, has firmed into $4.40 favouritism with TAB Fixed Odds for the Doomben 10,000.
Champion jockey James McDonald is reunited with Sunshine In Paris after partnering her to win the Group 1 Champions Sprint at Flemington last spring.
If Sunshine In Paris wins at Doomben, she will be McDonald's 14th Australian Group 1 win of the season. He has also ridden five international major race winners.

'He's just gritty, he's tough and that's what we've been saying all week, it will come down to that grind from the 500m,' Robl said. 'The Blake Shinn factor is a big factor, particularly in that last 100m. 'Mind you, Hadouken had to keep putting his head out but you get a horse like him and B. Shinn on top, it makes things a hell of a lot easier. 'He's a tradesman-like horse, he'll get there, he'll just grind, he won't really quicken. 'He's one tough horse to get past.' Shinn said it was a 'very special' moment to win the Darwin Cup for his best mate Robl. 'He had the horse spot on,' Shinn said. Hadouken has won five times in the Top End and took his prizemoney earnings to more than $530,000. Robl said he was keen to return next year to attempt a three-peat. Emily Lang soaked up the 'weird' but wonderful experience of signing autographs at Eagle Farm last Saturday as the significance of winning the Queensland jockeys' apprentice premiership sinks in. 'Because I'm quite close to outriding my (1.5kg) claim, for me it'll just be about trying to stay consistently riding in town and riding those horses well when I get the opportunities,' she said. 'Probably the hardest part of an apprenticeship is when you lose your claim and have to go to the next step. 'It'll just be trying to stay consistent and let trainers and connections know that I'm able to get the job done, even without a claim.' • English Premier League stars shooting for Golden Eagle bid Meanwhile, Gollan said former Godolphin galloper Pereille would head for a spell before resuming in the Queensland summer series. The Australian Bloodstock-owned gelding broke a 15-month drought when he emphatically won a Class 6 over 1200m, with Jones on board, last Saturday at Eagle Farm in his first race under the guidance of Gollan. 'It's how he should've won,' said Gollan, who last week claimed his 12th Brisbane trainers' premiership. 'The horse will get a lot of confidence and benefit from that because he hadn't won for some time (since May last year on the Sunshine Coast). 'He'll be well placed here in Queensland. That's just a good win for him to get the ball rolling for the group that bought into him. 'He'll have a short little break and then make his way back for the summer carnival.' Victory in a wildcard sprint race such as the $300,000 The Buffering (1400m) at Eagle Farm in late December would earn Pereille a golden ticket into the $2m Listed Magic Millions Cup three weeks later on the Gold Coast.
