A third person has been arrested on suspicion of helping a fugitive accused of killing four relatives of a Tennessee baby who was found abandoned alive last week, authorities said Monday. Meanwhile, authorities were scouring a wooded area near a private university in Jackson, Tennessee, on Monday afternoon as part of the investigation of into the suspect in the killings, 28-year-old Austin Robert Drummond, a law enforcement source familiar said. As for the latest arrest: Dearrah Sanders, 23, was taken into custody Monday on warrants charging her with with accessory after the fact to first degree murder, accused of assisting Drummond after the killings of the baby's relatives, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said. Sanders will be booked into the Lake County Jail, the TBI said, and it is unclear if she has obtained an attorney. The same charges were also filed last week against Tanaka Brown and Giovonti Thomas, both 29. Brown is also charged with tampering with evidence, according to the TBI. Drummond remains on the lam, but authorities investigating the case were searching a wooded area Monday near Union University in Jackson, prompting a 'soft lockdown' on campus, the law enforcement source said. The soft lockdown meant people cannot enter or exit, but regular activities are occurring inside campus buildings, the source said. Drummond is sought in connection with the deaths of James M. Wilson, 21; Adrianna Williams, 20; Cortney Rose, 38; and Braydon Williams, 15, whose bodies were found Tuesday in Tiptonville, a town in northwest Tennessee's Lake County, the TBI said. This is a developing story and will be updated.

3rd person arrested for allegedly helping a Tennessee fugitive wanted in family's killings

JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) — Police in Tennessee have charged a 23-year-old woman with assisting a man wanted in the murders of the parents, grandmother and uncle of an infant found alive miles away from the crime scene. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said Dearrah Sanders of Jackson, Tennessee, was arrested on Monday and charged with being an accessory after the killings. Investigators also arrested two men over the weekend on similar charges, alleging they helped 28-year-old Austin Robert Drummond after the July 29 killings. Drummond remained on the run on Monday afternoon, the TBI said in a news release. Authorities have left many questions unanswered, including how the three people allegedly helped Drummond, the manner in which the victims were killed and how the baby ended up in a car seat in the Tigrett area, roughly 40 miles (64.37 kilometers) from the bodies. Last week, authorities said they found the car in Jackson that they believe Drummond had been driving. Authorities believe the family murders were a targeted attack by Drummond, who had a relationship with the victims, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Director David Rausch said. The baby is safe and being cared for. Officials have warrants for Drummond that charge him with four counts of first-degree murder, one count of aggravated kidnapping and weapons offenses. His criminal history includes prison time for robbing a convenience store and threatening to go after jurors. He was also charged with attempted murder while behind bars. Authorities have identified the four people found dead in Tiptonville as James M. Wilson, 21, and 20-year-old Adrianna Williams, the baby's parents; 15-year-old Braydon Williams and 38-year-old Cortney Rose, the mother of Adrianna Williams and Braydon Williams.

Idaho College Murderer Bryan Kohberger in Prison With Lori Vallow's Husband Chad Daybell

Bryan Kohberger is behind bars in the same prison as Chad Daybell, who is 'Doomsday Mom' Lori Vallow's husband. Us Weekly confirmed earlier this month that Kohberger was transferred to the Idaho Maximum Security Institution inside the Idaho State Correctional Complex in Kuna, Idaho, after being sentenced to life in prison. Kohberger received four life sentences without the possibility of parole on July 23, more than two years after he broke into a house located at 1122 King Road in Moscow, Idaho, on November 13, 2022, and murdered college students Maddie Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin. Police documents released after Kohberger's sentencing revealed that he stabbed Kernodle more than 50 times (she had visible defense wounds) and Goncalves over 20 times to the point where she was 'unrecognizable.' Kohberger's sentence was part of a deal in which he agreed to plead guilty to four counts of first-degree murder, removing the possibility of the death penalty, which was a possibility had the case gone to trial. Bryan Kohberger Sentenced to 4 Lifetimes in Prison: Who Were the Idaho Murder Victims? The Idaho Maximum Security Institution is the state's only maximum security prison, which has a capacity of 535 inmates. The prison, which has been open since November 1989, 'houses Idaho's most dangerous and volatile male residents' and was on the list of 15 Worst Prisons in America published by Security Journal Americas in 2024. It was previously reported that there have been 'violent brawls, feces-covered recreation 'cages' and a dirty ventilation system described as being 'biohazard'' in the prison. Along with Kohberger, the prison holds serial killer Thomas Creech (whose lethal injection was botched in 2024) and Gerald Pizzuto (who is currently awaiting execution). True crime aficionados, however, are more interested in Kohberger and Daybell, 56, being kept in the same prison. Chad was convicted of first-degree murder of his first wife, Tammy Daybell, and Lori's kids Joshua "JJ" Vallow, 7, and Tylee Ryan, 13. He was sentenced to death in June 2024. What Idaho Victims' Surviving Roommates Said at Bryan Kohberger's Sentencing Chad was a doomsday author who claimed to have visions of the apocalypse. Lori eventually adopted his beliefs, and the two became publicly referenced as part of a 'doomsday cult.' JJ and Tylee disappeared in September 2019, and their remains were found buried in June 2020 in a property owned by Chad. The murder of Lori's ex-husband Charles Vallow also became part of the case, along with an attempted murder on Lori's nephew-in-law Brandon Boudreaux. Lori has been sentenced to five consecutive life sentences for her involvement in the murders of her children, Tammy and Charles plus the attempted murder of Boudreaux.
