Virat Kohli's 'smoking' photo sparks outrage online: Fans claim it's a lollipop; defend the cricketer's privacy.
Just weeks after announcing his retirement from Test cricket and months after stepping away from T20 Internationals following India's victory at the T20 World Cup 2024, Virat Kohli is making headlines again — but not for his on-field heroics. This time, it's a viral Reddit post and an alleged photo of him smoking a cigarette that have stirred up a social media storm. Virat Kohli's quiet phase after IPL 2025 victory Kohli has kept a low profile ever since leading Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to their maiden IPL title in 2025 and the unfortunate Bengaluru stampede during the victory parade that left 11 dead. With his appearances in public drastically reduced, fans have been eagerly waiting for updates on his next move, especially now that he has confirmed he will only play ODIs for India going forward. But the recent viral image has brought him back into public focus, albeit controversially. A Reddit post claims 'Kohli smokes' — photo adds fuel to the fire The uproar began with a Reddit post titled "Virat Kohli smokes", which claimed the cricketer secretly smokes cigarettes despite publicly maintaining a clean and disciplined image. The post also accused Kohli of eating non-vegetarian food while publicly identifying as vegan, supposedly influenced by his wife Anushka Sharma's advocacy for animal welfare. The entire PR curated image of Kohli , the " non-smoker" and "non- drinker" is a scam as expected. His fans had the audacity to troll MS Dhoni for smoking a hookah. What a fake person man .😭😭😭 — tweeting from my grave. (@kalhonahoooooo) June 28, 2025 While the original post has since been deleted, the discussion didn't die down. In the comments, a user uploaded an alleged photo of Virat Kohli smoking, which quickly spread across other social platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram. The image, though blurry and lacking verification, was enough to ignite a wave of speculation. Adding to the shock value, the Reddit post also alleged that 'hundreds of IPL players' regularly smoke during the season, though no names were mentioned. Fans divided over viral picture While some users criticised Kohli over the viral image, many others jumped to his defence, pointing out that the photo is too blurry to confirm if it's actually him. Several fans argued that the man in the picture doesn't even resemble Kohli, while others suggested it could be his lookalike. Some also claimed the object in his hand wasn't a cigarette but a lollipop, adding to the confusion. Can't even eat let the man enjoy a lollipop in peace and they want his test return. We are never seeing him again 😅 — Arnav (@arnav714) June 28, 2025 He doesn't look like Virat kohli Very big difference — Dr. Stephen Vincent Strange (@KumarTimes8) June 28, 2025 This picture is from 2023 though — Ahama Premaa (@AhamaPremaa) June 28, 2025 In addition to the debate over the image itself, several users voiced concern about Kohli's privacy being compromised, especially during his time away from the public eye. One fan wrote, "He's earned the right to live life on his own terms — whether in private or public. A legend who has won almost every trophy in cricket and now stands at the twilight of his incredible career. Everyone deserves a bit of privacy, especially someone who has given us so much." He's earned the right to live life on his own terms — whether in private or public. A legend who has won almost every trophy in cricket and now stands at the twilight of his incredible career. Everyone deserves a bit of privacy, especially someone who has given us so much. — đexv (@itruelydev) June 28, 2025 Virat Kohli has previously gone on record stating that he does not smoke and has always prioritised his health and discipline both on and off the field. Widely regarded as one of the fittest athletes in the world, Kohli is known for his strict fitness regime, clean eating habits, and teetotal lifestyle. Over the years, he has inspired countless fans and fellow players with his transformation and commitment to peak physical conditioning, making the claims in the viral photo even more doubtful for many who follow his journey closely. Ravindra Jadeja to be dropped from the second India vs England Test, presence of this player during IND practice session sparks speculation, his name is…….
Ravindra Jadeja to be dropped from the second India vs England Test, presence of this player during IND practice session sparks speculation, his name is....... New Delhi: The Indian cricket team is currently on a tour of England for a five-match Test series under the 2025-2027 World Test Championship. The first match of this series was played at Headingley, in which India lost by five wickets. In the first Test, India batted well in the first innings, but the bowling and fielding were truggling in the second innings, allowing England to successfully achieve the target. Bumrah's form and workload a matter of concern Jasprit Bumrah bowled brilliantly in the first innings and took five wickets, but he could not take any wicket in the second innings. Concerns have emerged about his fitness and workload. According to reports, he may possibly play only three of the five Tests. The team has spinners like Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav and Washington Sundar, while the pace attack includes Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna and others. However, the absence of Virat Kohli and the release of Harshit Rana after the first Test pose challenges regarding team combination. Indian team's weak fielding became the reason for defeat The Indian batting order looked strong under the leadership of captain Shubman Gill, but there were huge fielding mistakes. Yashasvi Jaiswal, in particular, dropped four easy catches, making the run chase in England's second innings easy. This defeat has put India behind in the series, and the second Test to be played at Edgbaston, Birmingham from July 8 has now becomes very important. Who is Harpreet Brar and why is he in the news? On 28 June 2025, Punjab Kings spin all-rounder Harpreet Brar was seen bowling to Indian batsmen in the nets. He is not a part of Team India's official Test team nor did he wear the Indian kit. This means that he was specially invited as a net bowler or for practice. This information was shared by an Indian journalist Sandipan Banerjee, who is in England. Will Brar play the second Test? Harpreet Brar's presence has led to speculation that he could be included in the team in place of Ravindra Jadeja. Jadeja is also a left-arm spin all-rounder, and reports suggested that coach Gautam Gambhir could drop him for the next match. However, there has been no official confirmation on this. Is Team India preparing for a strategic change? Given Brar's bowling style and the potential spin-friendly pitch at Edgbaston, some experts believe that the team could try options like Brar. However, this possibility is extremely low, as Brar has been called only as a net bowler and his main objective is to prepare the batsmen to play spin. Team situation before the second Test India will have to seriously consider their combination, fielding and workload management before the second Test. After Kohli's absence and the defeat in the first Test, Team India now faces a big challenge to make a comeback. Harpreet Brar might be in the news, but his role is expected to be limited.

Cricketer Yash Dayal In Trouble As Woman Files Complaint For Exploitation On Pretext Of Marriage
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Indian pacer, Yash Dayal, has been accused of exploitation on the pretext of marriage by a woman from Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad. The woman has lodged a complaint through the Chief Minister's online grievance portal, IGRS. In her complaint, the woman alleged that she had been in a relationship with the cricketer for the past five years, during which she was emotionally, mentally, and physically exploited. "For the last five years, the complainant was in a relationship with a cricketer. The man emotionally, mentally and physically exploited her by misleading her with the promise of marriage. He introduced the complainant to his family as their daughter-in-law, which made her trust him completely," the complaint stated. The woman further alleged that when she confronted Dayal about the alleged deception, she was subjected to physical violence and mental harassment. "During the relationship, the complainant was made emotionally and financially dependent on him. Later, she found that the man was involved in similar relationships with other women as well," the complaint said. She claimed to have reached out to the women's helpline number 181 on June 14, 2025, but said that the matter did not progress at the police station level. Owing to financial and social helplessness, she turned to the Chief Minister's office seeking justice. "She has chats, screenshots, video calls, and photos etc as evidence," it added. "The request is to investigate this matter promptly and impartially, and to take legal action against the accused. This step is important not only for her, but also for all girls who fall victim to such relationships," it concluded. Notably, Yash Dayal was part of RCB's historic IPL 2025 title win earlier this month, taking 13 wickets in 15 matches. He has represented Uttar Pradesh in all domestic formats and is yet to make his India debut.
