If the calendar is stacked with invitations, it's time to find the perfect summer wedding guest dress for all kinds of celebrations with Mirror's fashion team winning outfits
Wedding season is officially upon us, which means it's time to update wardrobes with stylish frocks perfect for summer nuptials. Our selection of the best summer wedding guest dresses will ensure shoppers stay comfortable throughout the day, from the ceremony to the reception, and all are priced under £100.
Summer weddings are the perfect occasion for bright colours and vibrant patterns, but that doesn't mean shoppers can't opt for a chic neutral palette if that's more their style. Whether it is floral prints or beach-ready styles, our edit has a show-stopping dress to suit any celebration.
What's more, many of these summer wedding guest outfits are versatile enough to be worn throughout the season, giving more bang for your buck. Simply add a jacket and trainers for a completely different look.
Bethan's pick: Coast Dahlia Printed Angel Sleeve Satin Bridesmaid Dress, £64.50
Butter yellow has been the trending colour of the year, so it's no surprise that there's a glut of wedding guest dresses in the lemony hue this season. My top pick is the Coast Dahlia Printed Angel Sleeve Satin Dress, Adorned with a stunning dahlia floral design. It lends itself nicely to countryside barn weddings, as well as events like the races, where I wore mine.
Usually £129, the dress is currently on offer for £64.50 and features the most romantic ruffly angel sleeves, which aren't restrictive, do a wonderful job of covering the upper-arm area, and are still breezy and breathable, making them ideal for warm weather.
The high waistline is also really flattering, making my legs look longer while creating a curvy silhouette that skims the tummy. The skirt of the dress flows beautifully, and the satin fabric appears to be of a higher quality. I also loved the detailing at the back, which features a little cut-out to reveal some of my back while still being very bra-friendly and not showing any pesky straps.
Many dresses like this end up being worn only once and then stay hanging in the wardrobe for years to come, but not this one. I've already worn it out twice since I got it (and it washes beautifully, by the way). I also plan to pack it for an upcoming holiday and wear it as a wedding guest later this year.
Lauren's pick: Joanie Katy Floral Print Ruffle Sleeve Mini Dress, £75
I've got a few weddings coming up this summer, and I usually tend to rent my outfits (hello, Hirestreet). It's affordable, sustainable, and means I don't have to panic buy a last-minute dress that'll only get worn once.
But this year, I already have something in my wardrobe that feels just right: a floral print mini-dress from Joanie, the brand known for its retro-inspired pieces and joyful prints. I wore it to a fancy dinner a few weeks ago, and it earned me more compliments than any outfit I've worn in ages.
The bold floral print is a real show-stopper - colourful without being over-the-top and vibrant enough to stand out in a sea of neutrals. The frilly ruffle sleeves add an extra fun touch, while the mini hemline feels playful yet still elegant. Plus, it has pockets, which, as any girl knows, is always a bonus.
Leaning into Joanie's signature 60s vibe, I paired it with green velvet Mary Jane shoes and a slick of bright red lipstick (No7's Pro Artist Matte Muse Lipstick in Red Carpet Ready, to be precise) for a Twiggy-esque look. However, it can be easily toned down with nude sandals and a clutch for a more casual outing.
Lucy's pick: Nobody's Child One Shoulder Georgia Midi Dress, £79
Can you wear black to a wedding? It's a common question and one that I personally think the answer is yes to. Unlike most social engagements, a wedding can often come with a specific dress code, so if you are feeling wary, it's always best to check with the couple first.
This Nobody's Child Georgia Midi Dress is such a flattering option - and it comes in a pretty shade of cornflower blue if you did want to go for something brighter. I wore it on holiday recently and it kept me cool and confident the whole day.
The one shoulder style gives it an elegance and I found the ruched bodice incredibly comfortable. I'm 5'5 and on me, the dress fell to just above my ankle, but if you're any shorter than this it might be more of a maxi length.
There are no petite options to choose from, but this Orange Floral Printed One Shoulder Dress from Next comes in regular or petite and is a great alternative should you be after a similar silhouette. It retails for £52 and it made from 100% cotton.
Eve's pick: Damson Madder's Mia Midi, £68
Weddings can last from early in the morning to midnight, so guests need to have a dress that is both comfortable and effortlessly stylish - especially in this heat when we don't want to be layering up in a bunch of jewellery. And I think I've found the perfect dress for the occasion in Damson Madder's Mia Midi Dress - it's currently on sale too (so naturally, I've snapped it up).
Costing £68 down from £90, the dress has a summery pink hue - the brighter the better during the warmer months - that is offset by white and black stripes. But its fun multi-way design is its USP for me and I cannot wait to wear it this summer.
The shirred bodice looks like it'll be really comfy from actual brekkie to the wedding brekkie - plus it enables its wearer to pull out all the stops on the dancefloor, which is of utmost importance - and it can be worn three different ways thanks to its thick straps that are attached to the bust.
Firstly, it can be worn as a bandeau frock, with the straps tied neatly into a bow on the front. The second look ties the straps in a bow at the back. And the last look sees the bandeau dress turned into a halterneck option that's elegant, fun and wedding ready. With a lovely standout style, the dress can easily be worn with shoes mirroring the colours of the stripes (black or white) or some more contrasting colours can be added to make the look a smidge more interesting (greens, oranges… whatever takes your fancy).
The dress has been a popular choice amongst fashion fans lately as sizes six and eight have sold out but 10 to 20 are still in stock. Made from 100% cotton, the dress is breathable making it a great option for the summer months when the weather is scorching. Shop it here.
Tiffany's pick: Me+Em
Floral patterns are not my forte when it comes to dressing for formal occasions and I feel so much more comfortable in my blacks, whites and blues. But for a summer wedding, it's always delightful to see a bright colour and that's why I picked this Me+Em dress when I attended my best friend's wedding two years ago.
In a stunning Electric Blue colour, the dress is so versatile that you can wear it four different ways with or wthout the belt and the halterneck tie. Despite it's a maxi dress, the crepe fabric with a satin strip on the side is lightweight to create a fluid movement when I wore it in hot Canadian weather.
The square neckline is flattering and I can accentuate the bust area by adding the halterneck tie. The back is crafted with elasticated shirred detail so it adjusts to the flexibility while I feasted on the meal.
One thing that I'm pleased with the dress is the side pockets and it's so handy when I got teary while delivering a speech to my best friend, it saved my makeup that night. The dress is currently on 70% off sale, which is a huge bargain but several sizes have already sold out.
Shoppers can try this year's new season dresses and this Panel Detail Fit and Flare Short Dress + Tie, £250, in similar electric blue is also very attractive. Elsewhere this Spring Floral Silk Cotton Woven Strappy Dress from Karen Millen, reduced to £183.20, features statement bows on the shoulders and artistic floral print.
Lavish Alice Liliana Curve Cross Back Midi Dress, was £108, now £54
Now half price, the Liliana Lavish Alice dress is a sensational pick for a summer wedding. Saving shoppers £54, the dress features a pretty cowl neckline and a strappy cross-over back. Stocked in sizes 20 to 26, the midi gently skims your figure as it is made from 'the smoothest fabric'.
Wearers will need to be careful when washing the dress, as the brand highlight it is hand wash only, but this indicates it is high quality. The dress would look lovely styled with barely-there heels and hold jewellery, for a timeless look that will fit into any kind of wedding theme.
Roman Petite Embroidered Maxi Dress, £65
A standout in Roman's seasonal collection is the Cotton Embroidered Shirred Maxi Dress, turning heads in coral pink. A shirred stretch bodice is a detail that makes this dress comfortable, as well as accommodating to all bust sizes. Falling to a maxi length with a fit and flare shape, complete the look with heeled wedges for a special occasion, and then re-wear with white trainers or sandals for a more casual day.
Besides the 'beautiful colour for the summer' earning customer accolades, shoppers are praising the Roman dress for making them feel confident during the warmer months. The dress boasts on-trend puff sleeves that have won the hearts of wearers. One person shared: "Love it. Beautiful colour and a good length. Sleeves cover my upper arms which is a good thing!"
Stocked in sizes 8 to 18 and priced at £65, someone found that the fit came up large, so this is something to note. They said: "I am usually a size 12 but I have had to send back for a size 10."
Boden Olympia Jersey Maxi Dress, now £56
Boden shoppers are hailing the Olympia dress as 'perfect for a beach wedding', but it would work equally as well at all kinds of celebrations thanks to its versatile style. On sale for half price, the dress is less than £60, meaning shoppers might have more money in the wedding guest dress budget to get some accessories.
People that have already worn the dress out say they get 'lots of compliments' as it is 'very flattering'. Some have pointed out that 'the neckline is a little too low for my taste', however, wearing a cami underneath would solve this issue.
Other say that it is a 'showstopper in the crowd' and it 'packs well' which is ideal should you need to travel for the wedding. The dress comes in sizes 4 to 22 and in petite or regular.

Models lured to sick 'Porta-Potty' Dubai parties by men lavishing them with gifts

Dubai is known for its glitzy lifestyle that draws hundreds of social media influencers and reality TV stars - but inside, there's a dark secret that has sparked concern for the welfare of women travelling to the popular tourism hotspot. Models have been lured to sick 'Porta-Potty' parties by men lavishing them with gifts as we look at inside Dubai's dark underbelly. These twisted gatherings - reportedly organised by wealthy men - lure young models and influencers with promises of tens of thousands of pounds, luxury gifts, and lavish hotel stays, reports the Mirror. ‌ But behind the glitz lies a horrifying truth, including acts of extreme sexual degradation, physical abuse, and potential legal peril for the women involved. An influencer sparked concern on TikTok after sharing extravagant gifts bought for her by a stranger she met at the gym on Wednesday. ‌ Jade, who goes by @outplayedbyjade online, is originally from France but travelled to Dubai as she documented her trip online. In her video, she explained how she had been leaving the gym when workers approached her with a gift from someone she had met on the treadmill. "I didn't think much of it," she explained in the video. A worker handed her a bouquet of flowers and chocolate from the man she had struck up a conversation with. Flattered, she texted the number he had left with the gift to thank him, after which she then received a call from a shop assistant at the luxury jewellery designer store Van Cleef & Arpels. "I'm a very curious girl, so I make my way over to the shop," she explained. "This assistant pulls out a beautiful bracelet and a matching necklace." All together, the gifts were worth around £3,000. And while Jade was over the moon with her gifts, fans were quick to warn the influencer that he was a "professional" and to "be careful" amid reports of men recruiting women for " Porta-Parties" in Dubai. ‌ There was no information to confirm the intentions of the man spoiling Jade. Maria Kovalchuk, a 20-year-old Ukrainian adult model, who was reportedly left for dead after attending one of the Porta-Potty parties. Maria vanished after telling her mother she'd been invited to stay overnight with two men claiming to be modelling agents. She never made her flight to Thailand. ‌ Ten days later, on March 19, she was found dumped at the roadside in Dubai, suffering from a shattered spine, broken limbs, and severe internal injuries. Maria has undergone multiple surgeries, and her family, now at her bedside, are desperate for answers. It's thought she is still recovering from her injuries. ‌ Dubai Police confirmed that Maria is receiving medical care, but claimed she 'entered a restricted construction site alone and fell from a height'. A statement many find hard to accept, given the disturbing rumours swirling around her disappearance. Russian lawyer Katya Gordon, who has followed the case closely, bluntly alleged: "Model Maria Kovalchuk was found dying on the side of the road in the UAE after a party. The scandal with the Porta Potty parties has been raging for over a year." Gordon and others allege that Maria may have been forced to take part in a sex act involving human faeces - a central theme of these "Porta-Potty" events, where humiliation and abuse are part of the package. ‌ These parties reportedly involve women being paid vast sums of money to perform grotesque acts involving bodily fluids, degradation and pain. Viral videos have helped expose this shadowy world, but the abuse is largely hidden by Dubai's shiny reputation and strict censorship laws. And the women involved in these parties could even find themselves prosecuted. Radha Stirling, CEO of Detained in Dubai, has warned that women involved in these parties - even against their will - could face charges of adultery or indecency, especially if married men are present. ‌ "Sex outside marriage has been legalised in Dubai, but organisers have exploited this. Women think they're attending a private party - instead, they're thrown into horrific, dangerous situations with real legal risk," Stirling said. Maria's mother told Ukrainian media: "She has no documents, no phone, nothing. She's had three operations. She can't speak. We were told she went to a party, but the promoter claims he never saw her. We're terrified of what really happened." Zoe Ball was spotted at Glastonbury Festival with a mysterious man who resembled her ex-husband, Norman Cook, as the pair enjoyed the live music. Radio personality Zoe ball has been spotted at Glastonbury Festival with a mystery man, sparking speculation among fans, who spotted the pair, that he may be her new partner. The pair appeared to be enjoying the weekend festivities, with onlookers claiming they saw the two walking hand in hand. Some even remarked that the man bears a resemblance to Zoe's ex-husband Norman Cook, better known as Fatboy Slim. ‌ The 54-year-old presenter was seen dressed in black and wearing sunglasses as she explored Worthy Farm. She and her partner were also seen making the most of the VIP area, taking in some of the famous performances lined up for the weekend, the Mirror reports. ‌ Zoe shares two children with her ex-husband, Norman - a son Woody, 24, and daughter Nelly, 14. The former couple first met in Ibiza in 1997 and married two years later in 1999. Although the pair separated in 2016 and officially divorced in 2020, though they've remained good friends. She was in a relationship with cameraman Billy Yates, who tragically died by suicide in 2017. She later entered a long-term relationship with former construction worker, Michael Reed, which reportedly ended in 2023. Zoe has yet to confirm any new relationship. ‌ This comes after Zoe and Jo Whiley announced an exciting new venture, the launch of a joint podcast. The beloved Radio 2 presenters are teaming up for the new project which has been described as a "warm and welcoming conversation with old mates". The podcast promises to feature "heartfelt and unfiltered conversations" as the duo open up about everything from raising a family and careers to ageing and living healthy. Our friendship goes back 30 years, to our days on The Word and The Big Breakfast." "We've grown up together, personally and professionally, along with our listeners. The show is what happens when two mates (who are constantly mistaken for each other) hit record on their regular catch-ups and talk life, unfiltered and full volume. We're chatting about our week, wild kids, ageing, what's for dinner, digging (literally), music obsessions, grief and everything in between." Zoe took a step back from her weekday breakfast show last year, much to the disappointment of her fans. She was replaced by Scott Mills but has since returned to radio with a new weekend afternoon show.

Kate Middleton and William face huge decision as 'reality hits home' for George

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info The upcoming summer break will provide the Princess of Wales with a valuable opportunity to spend quality time with her family before her three children embark on a new academic year. This summer will be particularly significant for Kate, as substantial changes are looming on the horizon, especially for Prince George. As Kate and Prince William's eldest child celebrates his 12th birthday on 22 July, he will soon be entering his final year at Lambrook School alongside his younger siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, before transitioning to secondary education. Recently, George, who is second in line to the throne, has been making more public appearances as he approaches his teenage years, with Kate offering gentle guidance at each event. As George turns 12, he faces not only the prospect of joining a new school next year but also the dawning realisation of his future role. According to former BBC Royal correspondent Jennie Bond, "the reality of his destiny has begun to hit home" at this age. (Image: PA) (Image: Getty Images) Jennie tells the Mirror: "He tends to look rather serious when he's 'on parade' these days. Charlotte looks demure, Louis looks impish, but George sometimes looks rather preoccupied to me. And who can blame him? It is an extraordinary prospect to know that one day you will be taking on the huge role that you are now watching your grandfather perform. "But he's not, by any means, always a serious little chap. When he's with his dad at a football match, or fooling around with his siblings and his father, he has a wonderful smile on his face, and seems happy and relaxed.", reports the Mirror. In May, George undertook his most significant Royal engagement yet when he attended commemorations marking the 80th anniversary of VE Day. Alongside Charlotte and Louis, he mingled with veterans to watch a military parade, and made an appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the RAF flypast. Taking a major step in his Royal duties, he joined his parents in conversing with Second World War heroes at a Buckingham Palace tea party. He listened attentively to their poignant stories and asked questions about their experiences. He was guided through the event by Kate, 43, who beckoned him over to chat with the former servicemen and women, helping her eldest son feel comfortable. The veterans at the gathering spoke highly of the young prince's curiosity about their wartime experiences. Last month, George also accompanied his grandfather, King Charles, for Trooping the Colour, riding in a carriage and, once again, appearing on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for another impressive RAF flypast. Prince George is not alone on his journey towards adolescence, with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge by his side every step of the way. Despite an increasing public profile, Kate and William are adamant about giving George and his siblings as normal a life as possible. This includes a regular education, cheering on Aston Villa at football matches with his dad, and only making appearances at the most significant Royal events. This approach marks a departure from Prince William's own teenage years, which were spent navigating the complexities of his parents' separation and time at boarding school. At the tender ages of 15 and 12, William and Prince Harry endured the devastating loss of their mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, who tragically passed away in a car accident in Paris in 1997. Kate, however, is acutely aware of the profound impact early childhood has on later life, undoubtedly applying this knowledge in raising her children. Jennie comments: "I think George's close and loving relationship with his parents will prove invaluable as he continues to grow up. Catherine is now such an expert on how children develop and the emotions they go through: her support and advice for George will continue to be a key factor in his wellbeing." One Royal who, Jennie believes, will have set a precedent on how to raise a future King is the mother-in-law Kate never met - Diana. Her unique approach to parenting, which entirely rewrote the Royal rule book, saw her insist that William and Harry were exposed to life beyond palace walls, whilst simultaneously ensuring they both grasped the magnitude of their roles. She famously took her sons to McDonald's, made them queue like everyone else during days out at theme parks, and even brought them to homeless shelters to expose them to life outside the Royal bubble. Those childhood visits evidently had an impact on William, now 43, who has publicly stated his ambition is to end homelessness and concedes he, too, would be open to taking George to meet those who are experiencing homelessness. Jennie believes that Diana's approach, as well as allowing her children to be normal boys, will have undoubtedly influenced William - and, in turn, Kate - regarding how to raise George. She adds: "I think William has drawn on the openly loving and tactile relationship he had with his mother to help him bring up his own children. "He will remember how Diana insisted that her boys should know more about the real world than royal princes before them. She made them aware of having play days and work days. On play days they could wear jeans, eat burgers and enjoy go-karting. On work days they had to dress and behave as princes of the realm. "I think William has made sure that his own children have as many play days as possible, but he and Catherine have also gradually introduced them to the formal world of being royal." The upcoming weeks will likely see increased speculation about which secondary school George will attend. Jennie believes it will be a challenging decision for William and Kate, who will also be considering what's best for Charlotte and Louis. "For so many youngsters, teenage years can be hard, but for a prince, everything is a whole lot harder," she says. "First and foremost, the school has to be able to offer or accommodate 24/7 protection. Then there is the impact on other pupils because, like it or not, George will always be different. "I suppose Eton remains high on the list - for William the school was a haven at a very, very difficult time in his life following his mother's death - but Marlborough College is definitely another contender. "Catherine enjoyed her years there, especially the sports facilities, and a big plus must be that it is co-educational, so the other two children could join George there." Both schools boast impressive alumni, with Prince Harry also attending Eton, along with prime ministers such as David Cameron and Boris Johnson, and actors Eddie Redmayne and Tom Hiddleston. Meanwhile, former Marlborough pupils include Princess Eugenie, comedian Jack Whitehall and Samantha Cameron, the wife of former Prime Minister David Cameron. "Personally, I would like to see the siblings at the same school because I think they would be a great comfort to one another during these tricky years," Jennie opines. "I would also like to see them at a day school, or as weekly boarders, so that they could still enjoy the lovely, cosy home environment that William and Catherine have worked so hard to create for them." Jennie emphasises the importance of privacy, noting, "William was given a good deal of privacy at Eton, especially after Diana's death. And I think he will do everything possible to make sure that George and the others are able to negotiate this important growing up stage of their lives without worrying that cameras are around every corner." However, when it comes to making the ultimate decision, it's clear Kate will prioritise what's best for George, with Jennie remarking on his readiness for the future due to his parents' guidance. She remarks, "I think George is pretty lucky to have these two as his parents. And if Catherine needs advice, then I think the best person she can turn to is her husband - who is living out the very same destiny himself."
