‘Happy Gilmore 2' Dominates Netflix Global Top 10 Movies Chart In Debut
Adam Sandler has gone to a 'Happy Place' with a massive debut of Happy Gilmore 2 on Netflix's Top 10 Global Movies chart.
The sequel to the 1996 comedy classic debuted on Netflix on July 25. And while the film was only available to Netflix viewers for three days in the chart period, the film still topped worldwide viewership for all films on the platform from July 21-27.
According to Netflix TUDUM, Happy Gilmore 2 had 46.7 million views during the most recent chart period, which equates to 91.9 million hours viewed. In addition, Happy Gilmore 2 was the No. 1 movie on Netflix in 47 countries, including the U.S. and Canada, and made the Top 10 in 88 countries worldwide.
The logline for Happy Gilmore 2 reads, 'Happy Gilmore isn't done with golf — not by a long shot. Adam Sandler's short-fused legend swings for a comeback to make his kid's dream come true.'
In addition to Sandler, Happy Gilmore 2 features the return of Julie Bowen as Virginia Venit and Christopher McDonald as Happy's rival, Shooter McGavin. Happy Gilmore 2 also stars Ben Stiller, Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio (aka Bad Bunny), Benny Safdie, Hayley Joel Osment, Sunny Sandler, Sadie Sandler, Jackie Sandler and John Daly, and features several cameo appearances from the worlds of screen, music and professional golf.
In addition to Happy Gilmore 2, the original Happy Gilmore film is also a big hit on Netflix's Global Top 10 list. The original film debuted at No. 6 on the streamer's global chart for the week of July 14-20 with 4 million views, which equates to 6.2 million hours viewed.
In addition to the Netflix Global Top 10 Movies chart, Happy Gilmore also made the top 10 movies list in 10 countries, including the U.S. and Canada.
For the week of July 21-27, Happy Gilmore was No. 3 on the global chart with 11.4 million views, which equates to 17.5 million viewing hours.

I'm Rethinking Amusement Park Rides for Good After Watching Netflix's 'Critical' Docuseries
Each week, Netflix releases a list of the Top 10 films and TV shows dominating the platform, and for the week of July 21, the new original docuseries Critical: Between Life and Death made a big impression on viewers, ranking No. 7 in the platform's most-watched shows. While medical shows -- including series like The Pitt, Pulse and ER -- have always been popular, Critical is an unscripted documentary that depicts real-life emergencies as they're happening. What makes it so captivating is the intensity and high stakes of these situations, and there's no shying away from the blood, open wounds and emotionally distraught patients and their friends and family here. Interestingly, the show fell out of the Top 10 pretty quickly -- after its first week, it dropped. That's not to say it's not popular, but my personal theory is that it has proven a little too intense for some people. That was my reaction, anyway. After a couple of episodes, I couldn't keep pace with all the grim, traumatic events. In fact, I'm shocked I kept watching after the first episode, which featured four people getting thrown from or crushed by a malfunctioning amusement park ride. Being that this is the height of summer and there's a Six Flags nearby that my kids and I frequent regularly, this is not what I wanted to see, and seeing this real incident unfold may have turned me off of fairs and amusement parks for good. I can't be the only person who gets a nagging feeling any time I board any kind of thrill ride that something terrible could happen, that I'm an accomplice to my own Final Destination death scene and here it is, proof that those fears -- while obviously not common -- can come true. The episode depicts the hospital call centers that are first notified of the ride collapse, and we witness ambulances, helicopters and emergency responders dispatched to the scene, later returning with their patients, most of whom are unresponsive. As the four patients injured at the funfair (as it's referred to on the show) are sent to several trauma centers around London, 40 cameras follow them and the health professionals who are helping them. We're given a front row seat to all of their treatments as their bodies are cut open, scans are taken and they're assessed for physical and neurological damage. I'm someone who gets grossed out by Dr. Pimple Popper videos, so there were several moments while watching this show where I had to look away. (Spoiler alert: The patients do get an epilogue of sorts where we learn that all of them not only survived but are back to leading healthy, relatively normal lives.) Netflix The show does address the fact that 50% of calls to the trauma centers in London are because of violence; accidents such as this one are much less common. And yet even with that in mind, I will panic forever at the idea that the giant spinner ride at the fair is going to dislodge and become a flying projectile. Critical: Between Life and Death is a remarkable show for just how close the filmmakers are allowed to get to such life-threatening action but watching the show made me realize some fears I didn't even know I had. At least while watching The Pitt, there was a sense of relief that it wasn't real. Here, there's no such comfort.

Giving fans unprecedented access to the behind-the-scenes workings of the company. While discussing the WrestleMania 41 match between Cody Rhodes and John Cena, Brian Gewirtz detailed the original plans for Elimination Chamber that he and The Rock wanted to see happen, which would have seen Kevin Owens defeating Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Elimination Chamber. 'The prospect of babyface John and babyface Cody felt a little dry to us,' Brian Gewirtz said. 'But just looking at it from the outside, like, let's throw some controlled chaos into this. So myself and Rock, we got together and we pitched something that was two-fold. 'I had the idea of Cody needing to be Rock's champion. We had that as the hook, then we proposed Elimination Chamber. Cody turning down The Final Boss, and that was going to lead to the Final Boss making an impromptu title match right then and there, that resulted in Kevin Owens, who had been in a storyline with Cody during that time, leaving with the championship. 'Kevin Owens winning the title wasn't the end goal. The takeaway was whatever it is we do needs to be seismic. That's the big question: what is Cody going to say? What is he gonna do? How are you going to pay this off at Chamber?' Obviously, WWE went a different way, and Owens eventually needed to be written off television following Elimination Chamber due to a serious neck injury. However, in a different world, it would have been very interesting to see how this would have played out.
