Morning showers bring relief to Delhi
While the rainfall brought smiles and a temporary respite from the oppressive weather, it also exposed the capital's chronic infrastructure issues. Several key areas across Delhi, including Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, experienced severe waterlogging, disrupting traffic and stranding commuters during peak morning hours.
One commuter stuck in the flooded shared on twitter and remaked, 'Every time it rains, this road turns into a river for nearly 5 kilometers. It's the same story every year.' Another frustrated commuter shared , 'My car broke down due to a puncture while navigating the water. It's unbelievable how just an hour of rain can paralyze the capital's roads.'
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert on Monday morning, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds across all districts of Delhi, including North, North-East, North-West, South, South-West, South-East, and West Delhi.
Despite the day's downpour, the IMD clarified that no weather alerts have been issued yet for the coming days. However, light rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is expected to persist for the next two to three days, keeping the city's weather cloudy and cooler.
According to the IMD, the monsoon trough at sea level is currently passing through Delhi, Sirsa, Lucknow, Varanasi, and other regions before extending towards the Bay of Bengal. An upper air cyclonic circulation has also formed over Himachal Pradesh and adjoining Punjab, influencing regional weather patterns.
Although the heaviest rain activity is currently concentrated in Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, and Vidarbha, the IMD expects continued rainfall across northwest India, including Delhi, over the next 6–7 days.

Goa gets 50 inches of rainfall this season as monsoon stays weak
Panaji: Goa received 50 inches of rainfall so far this season, reaching the milestone within 40 days. A total of 1,271.2mm of average rainfall was recorded in Goa from June 1 until 8.30 am on Friday. The IMD has also cautioned that squally weather with wind speeds of 40-50 kmph, gusting up to 60kmph, is expected to prevail over many parts of the South Maharashtra–Goa coast from July 13 to 15. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along the affected coastal areas during this period due to rough sea conditions and the risk of strong winds.

Deficit rainfall hits kharif sowing in 11 mandals of Vizianagaram
Agriculture activity has been impacted in 11 out of 27 mandals of Vizianagaram district due to deficit rainfall during the ongoing kharif season. Farmers in Vangara, Regidi Amadalavalasa, Rajam, Bobbili, Ramabhadrapuram, Gajapathinagaram Garividi, Cheepurupalli and other mandals have been unable to begin sowing operations, with rainfall falling short of the seasonal averages. For instance, Vangara mandal received only 157 mm rainfall against the average rainfall of 162.2 mm, while Gantyada, received 140 mm compared to its normal 190.6 mm rainfall. Farmers who received water from Madduvalasa, Thatipudi and other reservoirs are relatively safe. However, in the absence of irrigation, a majority of farmers in the district, rely solely on the rains to irrigate their fields. The overall sowing activity in the district has dropped significantly. Normally, agriculture is taken up in 4.5 lakh acres, but this season it has been confined to around 2 lakh acres. Agriculture officials remain hopeful, citing the India Meteorological Department's forecast of additional rainfall for the district in the third week of July. CPIM leader Reddi Shankara Rao has urged the government to provide financial assistance to farmers who have been unable to begin sowing due to lack rainfall and irrigation facility. YSRCP leaders have sought ₹20,000 financial assistance for each farmer under the Rythu Bharosa scheme which was implemented during the tenure of former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy regime.

Monsoon to regain strength from July 15; level of Ganga rises
1 2 3 4 Patna: After a lull, monsoon is set to gather pace across the state from July 15, bringing relief from the prevailing dry spell and soaring temperatures. While most regions have witnessed dry conditions, light and scattered rainfall was reported in select areas over the past two days. In Patna, the Ganga's water level has shown a rise at key points including Maner, Digha Ghat and Hathidah. At Digha Ghat, the river, which typically flows at 40 meters, the water level was recorded at 47.30 meters. Officials confirmed the water currently remains below the danger mark of 50.45 meters. According to the bulletin issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), isolated rainfall at one or two places are expected to occur for the next three days across the state, whereas moderate rainfall is likely to occur from Tuesday onwards in most of the areas. In Patna, Wednesday's rainfall has brought a slight dip in maximum temperatures. The maximum temperature is expected to hover from 34 to 36 degrees Celsius for the next three days here, and in the other southern districts of the state. The minimum temperature will range between 26-28 degrees Celsius. No major change in the maximum or minimum temperature is expected to occur for the next five days.
