Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey Movie Adds 2 More New Cast Members
Following the Oscar-winning Oppenheimer movie released in 2023, Nolan is now working on an adaptation of The Odyssey, which will be released in theaters this coming July. Matt Damon will be playing the hero Odysseus in the film.
Michael Vlamis and Iddo Goldberg have now both been cast in The Odyssey, per Deadline. It is unclear who they will be playing.
Vlamis is known for playing Micahel Guerin in The CW's Roswell, New Mexico series. He starred in a 2021 horror movie called The Resort and recently made his feature film directorial debut with Crossword, which premiered at the Austin Film Festival in October 2024.
Goldberg, meanwhile, played Bennett Knox on the Snowpiercer series, while he's also had roles in Secret Diary of a Call Girl, Peaky Blinders, Salem, Supergirl, The Lasy Tycoon, Westworld, and Ghosts of Beirut. His filmography includes 2008's Defiance, 2009's The Tournament, 2010's The Tourist, 2017's The Zookeeper's Wife, 2018's Driven, 2023's Fear, and more.
Along with Damon, Vlamis, and Goldberg, the star-studded cast of The Odyssey includes Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Benny Safdie, Charlize Theron, Himesh Patel, Elliot Page, Bill Irwin, Samantha Morton, Jesse Garcia, Will Yun Lee, Mia Goth, Corey Hawkins, Nick Tarabay, Jimmy Gonzales, and Maurice Compte.
'An epic poem from Homer, the original literary classic explored themes of heroism, loyalty, cunning and the struggle against divine will, featuring stories like Odysseus' encounters with the Cyclops Polyphemus, the Sirens and the witch-goddess Circe, culminating in a reunion with his wife Penelope,' Deadline's article reads.
Nolan's The Odyssey will be released in United States theaters, as well as in IMAX, on July 17, 2026, from Universal Pictures.

‘The Odyssey' IMAX 70mm Tickets To Go On Sale A Year Ahead In US/UK
While the tagline for the movie is 'Defy the Gods' it could equally be 'Defy the Online Queues' as ... More tickets are about to go on sale for 'The Odyssey'. The hype for Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey has officially begun. Not content with releasing a teaser trailer, which is currently running exclusively in cinemas ahead of Superman, Variety has revealed that The Odyssey tickets will go on sale on July 17th, 2025, a full year to the day ahead of its anticipated release date. This is the first time a studio has put tickets for sale this early in advance, but considering Nolan has a loyal army of fans large enough to sack a city, there certainly won't be any shortage of uptake. Many of these are enthusiasts for the IMAX 70mm format that Nolan champions, and the tickets will only be on sale for those venues. While early rumors revealed that AMC would be selling tickets at its IMAX 70mm-capable Lincoln Square theater in New York, the UK-based IMAX Vanguard group suggests that the BFI IMAX in London will offer tickets too. While the Manchester Printworks in the north of England has also teased the movie, it has not indicated it will be offering tickets for sale at the time. Traveling for IMAX There are only around 30 venues worldwide that still have IMAX film projectors, and for Oppenheimer, many fans were willing to board a plane to travel to a screen that would let them see the film in Nolan's preferred format. Considering that The Odyssey is the first feature film to be captured entirely on IMAX film cameras, it seems likely airlines will be doing even better business this time round. The Odyssey will depict the story of the ancient tale attributed to the ancient Greek poet Homer, which tells the tale of Odysseus (played by Matt Damon in the new film), returning home after the Trojan War. We have already had a glimpse of Tom Holland as Odysseus's son Telemachus in the trailer, speaking to an unknown character played by Jon Bernthal. The movie will also feature Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, and Lupita Nyong'o as well as Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron. Sean ‘Diddy' Combs Dresses as King in Resurfaced Pics as Jury Finds Him Not Guilty on Three Charges
Disgraced music producer Sean 'Diddy' Combs is seen dressed up as a king, draped in a cape and wearing an over-the-top red and gold crown in resurfaced photos taken at a 2002 Halloween party, exclusively obtained by the National ENQUIRER. Combs, 55, was surrounded by several women – two of which were sporting black corset-like tops and collars – as he wore a glittering red and gold outfit in the images. Other snapshots revealed Combs pouring drinks, posing with guests and mingling with the other attendees at the Capitale Nightclub in New York City. He was 32 years old at the time that the photos were taken. The resurfaced snapshots come after Combs received a mixed verdict from a 12-person jury for his high-profile trial on Wednesday, July 2. While he was acquitted of his sex trafficking and racketeering charges, he was found guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. Each count comes with a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, meaning that Combs still faces up to 20 years behind bars. Following the verdict, Combs' pal Charlie Lucci told reporters outside of the court house that the jurors 'got it right,' according to NBC News. 'It restores faith back into the justice system,' he said. 'I cried. I cried because that's my brother up there [on trial].' The outlet also reported that Combs' mother, Janice Combs, admitted she was also relieved by the court's decision. 'Yes, I was happy,' she said. 'Wouldn't you be happy?' Among the 34 witnesses who testified against Combs was his ex-girlfriend Cassandra 'Cassie' Ventura – who accused the Grammy winner of physical abuse, coercion and more in the bombshell trial. On July 2, her lawyer Douglas H. Wigdor said they were 'pleased' that Combs still faces 'substantial jail time,' despite not being convicted on all counts. 'Of course, we would have liked to have seen a conviction on the sex crimes and RICO,' he said at the time, per NBC News. 'But we understand that 'beyond a reasonable doubt' is a high standard.' ' Since his September 2024 arrest, the hip hop artist has been incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York. The judge is expected to make a decision very soon on whether Combs will remain in jail ahead of his sentencing hearing, or if he will be released on a $1 million bond to his Miami home as suggested by his attorney Marc Agnifilo. Joaquin Phoenix Says ‘I'm So Sorry' for ‘Horrible' and ‘Uncomfortable' Letterman Interview: ‘One of the Worst Nights of My Life'
Joaquin Phoenix was the guest of honor on 'The Late Show With Stephen Colbert' on Tuesday night, marking his first appearance on the late-night staple since his infamous 2009 interview with Dave Letterman and subsequent on-air apology the next year. The Oscar winner memorably appeared on Letterman's 'Late Show' in character (shaggy hair, untamed beard and all) from his mockumentary 'I'm Still Here,' which documented his life after the spoof announcement that he was retiring from acting to pursue a hip-hop career. The interview, some of which was used in the film, was incredibly awkward and led the public to believe Phoenix was having a mental breakdown. More from Variety Emma Stone on Working With Joaquin Phoenix in 'Eddington' and That Viral Bee Incident With Pedro Pascal and Austin Butler at Cannes 'My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman' Renewed for Seasons 6 and 7 at Netflix 'Eddington' Trailer: Joaquin Phoenix and Pedro Pascal Feud Through George Floyd Protests and Machine-Gun Fire in Ari Aster's COVID Western Sitting down with Colbert, Phoenix said it was his intention to get a big reaction out of, not just Letterman, but the public at large. However, he said he did give the show a heads up. 'When I came on this show with Dave, I originally did the pre-interview in character and I realized that it was just a little silly, so I called them back and I said, 'Listen, this is what I'm doing. I'm coming out here and I'm doing this whole thing. And I just want Dave to like, lacerate me. I just want it to be really dangerous,'' Phoenix said. 'That was the kind of intention — I just always wanted to get this reaction and see how I would respond to that. So it was beneficial for no one to know, except when needed.' But Phoenix admitted that the interview itself was 'horrible,' adding: 'It was so uncomfortable. I regret it, I'll never do it again. I'm so sorry.' After the two shared a laugh, Colbert told Phoenix, 'I don't know if [Letterman's] watching.' 'He might be and I just need to say, I'm sorry,' Phoenix responded. The actor, who stars in Ari Aster's new movie 'Eddington,' did apologize to the late-night host when he came back on 'The Late Show' in 2010. 'I hope I didn't offend you in any way,' he said at the time. 'You've interviewed many, many people and I assumed that you would know the difference between a character and a real person, but I apologize.' Reflecting on the moment with Colbert, Phoenix concluded: 'It was strange because in some ways, it was a success, and it was also just one of the worst nights of my life.'
