What they're saying: 'Do we have the favorite? No,' Beckman said. 'But we still have a horse who earned his way into the race. No matter where he's run and what he's done, this is a race that long shots can win. This is not something where we go in hopeless. I get that we're going to be a long shot on the board, but the horse doesn't know that.'
Last May, NBC Sports announced a partnership with Churchill Downs to present the Kentucky Derby on NBC and Peacock through 2032.
The extension includes multiplatform rights to the Kentucky Derby, Kentucky Oaks and Derby and Oaks Day programming, which will be presented on NBC, Peacock, USA Network and additional NBCU platforms.

Kansas City Chiefs legend believes the offensive line will be a strength in 2025
The Kansas City Chiefs' loss in Super Bowl LIX sent shockwaves throughout the league, but it may have pushed the team to make its weaknesses a strength in the 2025 season. During an interview with NBC, Franchise legend Jamaal Charles shared his thoughts on the team's bounce-back plans. "One thing about coach Andy Reid is that he does a great job of trying to figure out where our weakness is and how we can correct that," Charles said in the interview. "It surprised me in the Super Bowl that we couldn't get that done. Normally, he's always on point about fixing the weakness and trying to get the ball out of Patrick Mahomes' hands quickly so he won't hold on to the ball." Charles praised his former team's resolve to fix problems, specifically the offensive line. "With getting (beat) that way from the Super Bowl, a lot of people will think (O-line) is our weakness," said Charles, "It might be surprising this year that we might be on top of that, from the trenches in the line. I think we'll get that corrected." Kansas City reinforced the offensive line by drafting Josh Simmons in the first round and signing Jaylon Moore.
