Dubai club to go up against the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona

The EuroLeague, widely recognised as one of the toughest basketball leagues in the world, have confirmed the entry of Dubai Basketball club while expanding from 18 to 20 teams, thus ratifying on a proposal in May and reported first by Aletihad . Though two slots were added, three teams will reap the benefit because Alba Berlin dropped out of the league. The Dubai debutants will thus be joined by Hapoel Tel Aviv and Valencia Basket.Following a historical debut season in ABA League, Dubai Basketball climbed to the play-off semi-finals before being halted by European powerhouse Partizan – the team captured the attention of thousands worldwide. Although their campaign ended shy of the final finishing in third overall, the season laid a powerful foundation for what promises to be a defining season for the club."I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to the leadership of Dubai and the Dubai Sports Council for their unwavering support. Facing the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Panathinaikos, Olympiacos, and reigning champions Fenerbahce, among other elite clubs, Dubai Basketball will bring top-tier European basketball to Coca-Cola Arena from September to June.Co-founder and co-Chief Executive Officer Dejan Kamenjašević has been a driving force behind the club's rapid rise. "Credit goes to our coaches, players and all Dubai Basketball employees who worked hard to convert this dream to a reality," said Kamenjašević. Now, with EuroLeague ahead, we have even more to show. In just their first season, Dubai Basketball attracted nearly 80,000 fans to Coca-Cola Arena, paving the way for a new era for the sport in the region. As the only Middle Eastern team represented in ABA League last season, Dubai had something to prove from day one. And in the span of a year, they firmly established themselves as top contenders in Europe.

BYD to invest $94 million in new Hungary plant
Chinese automaker BYD will invest 32 billion forints ($94 million) in a new plant in the northern Hungarian town of Komarom, tripling its annual capacity to 1,250 electric buses and trucks, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said. Under right-wing Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Hungary has become an important trade and investment partner for China, in contrast with some other European Union nations considering becoming less dependent on the world's second-largest economy. 'We Hungarians do not consider East-West cooperation a threat, but rather an opportunity, a big opportunity,' Szijjarto was quoted as saying on Friday, adding that the government would support the project with a 3.1 billion forint grant. Orban, who has spearheaded a drive in central Europe to bring Chinese EV and battery manufacturing plants to Hungary, has said his landlocked country did not want to be squeezed into either bloc and wanted to keep trading with both sides. BYD, which is also building an electric car factory in southern Hungary and expects to establish a European centre in the country, will establish a research and development laboratory alongside its latest investment in an apparent reward for Hungary's condemnation of European tariffs on Chinese EVs. Political consultations between UAE and Pakistan discuss deepening cooperation
28 June 2025 18:33 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD) The United Arab Emirates and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan convened the second round of political consultations in Abu Dhabi. The session was co-chaired by Reem Ketait, Deputy Assistant Minister for Political Affairs at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Shehryar Akbar Khan, Additional Foreign Secretary at Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign consultations were preceded by a high-level meeting between His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, as part of the 12th session of the UAE-Pakistan Joint Ministerial Commission, held in Abu the Political Consultations, both sides highlighted the enduring strength of the bilateral relationship. They reflected on recent high-level visits, and welcomed the ongoing growth of economic ties, with non-oil trade surpassing $8.6 billion in two sides exchanged assessments on key regional developments, including the situation in the Middle East, and recent discussions at the United Nations Security Council. In this context, the UAE welcomed Pakistan's active role as a non-permanent member of the Council and was briefed on Pakistan's preparations for its forthcoming presidency of the Council in July 2025. Both sides underscored the value of continued coordination on Security Council matters and reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing peace, stability, and constructive solutions to regional the multilateral arena, they reviewed the two countries' close cooperation in ensuring the success of the 2026 UN Water Conference, which will be co-hosted by the UAE and sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining regular consultations in order to advance common objectives for the mutual benefit of their peoples.
