The model was created by the University of Nottingham in partnership with the Universities of Warwick, Oxford, and the Athens University of Economics and Business. It builds on a previous tool called Ithaca, which focused on Greek inscriptions, but has been expanded to add Latin and uses a much larger database of over 176,000 examples. Interestingly, Aeneas can process both text and images, which allows it to figure out where an inscription came from and fill in gaps even when the missing length is unknown. This makes it especially useful for damaged artifacts.
Notably, Aeneas has already proven to be useful in debates about famous inscriptions, such as the Res Gestae of Augustus. Instead of predicting one exact date, it provides a range of likely dates and explains the clues it used. In addition, tests with professional historians showed that the tool improved their accuracy and helped them spot connections they might not have noticed otherwise. As a result, Aeneas is being shared openly to support research and museum work, with plans to add other ancient languages and artifacts in the future.

Leaked images reveal Google's new budget earbuds
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Quick Summary A new leaked render has appeared which shows off a new set of earbuds from Google. Those could be the Google Pixel Buds 2a, and may launch at the upcoming Google event. With the Google Pixel event now just a matter of weeks away, it should come as no surprise that the rumour mill has been spinning furiously. Fans are eager to understand what is coming, to try and get a feel for just how much of an upgrade is coming. We've already seen leaked renders of the Google Pixel 10 Pro, as well as those for the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Those Android phones are likely to be among the most highly anticipated at the event, with the brand's offering growing substantially in recent years. Now, the same leaker has shared an image of a new set of earbuds. That is listed as the Google Pixel Buds 2a, which would make them a successor to the brand's current budget buds – the Google Pixel Buds a. The image was shared by Android Headlines, and shows the buds in a pale Lilac hue. The colour – which the report suggests is called 'Iris' – is seen in the innards of the case, which has a white outer casing. It looks like the case is designed to reveal a little sliver of that colour when closed, too. There appears to be a band which will be visible on the outside, ensuring your carefully chosen style can still be seen. You might have noticed I'm dwelling slightly here, dear reader, and that's because there isn't an awful lot more to tell you. While the leaked render gives us a good look at the device, there is no accompanying information to make any suggestions about the specs or pricing. With little else to go on, we'll just have to wait for the official launch to offer further comment. Still, with that set to take place in just a few short weeks, we shouldn't have long to wait.

After Microsoft's $4 trillion milestone, who will be next to join the club?
Microsoft became the second company to pass a $4 trillion market cap mark after a blowout earnings release on Wednesday afternoon. That release showed quarterly revenue up 18% year over year, and net income up 24%, which resulted in Microsoft shares increasing more than 4% on Thursday, bringing the company's overall value past $4 trillion. Exclusive: Google is indexing ChatGPT conversations, potentially exposing sensitive user data Emotionally intelligent people use the 2-week rule to motivate themselves and reach their biggest goals Middle management is dead On July 9, Nvidia was the first to top the $4 trillion mark. Over the past three years, Microsoft's stock has more than doubled. Yesterday's milestone comes roughly six years after Microsoft passed the $1 trillion mark. Other companies are also hot on its heels. Here are five others that could become the next $4 trillion companies. Apple Apple will report earnings on Thursday after the bell, which could have an impact on its overall value. As it stands, the company has a market cap of roughly $3.1 trillion—still a ways off from $4 trillion—but it is the third-largest public firm in the world, measured by market cap. It was the first company to cross the $1 trillion, $2 trillion, and $3 trillion market cap marks, and shares are currently trading at around $210. Notably, shares are down almost 15% year to date, but they have nearly doubled in value over the past five years. Amazon Amazon is the fourth-largest public company in the world by market cap, with an overall value of around $2.5 trillion. Like Apple, Amazon will report earnings after the bell on Thursday, which could increase or decrease its value. The company does have a lot of ground to make up on Microsoft and Nvidia to reach $4 trillion, which would require some significant movement in its share price, currently trading at more than $230. Alphabet Alphabet, Google's parent company, is the only other public company worth more than $2 trillion as of this writing, with a market cap of around $2.33 trillion. Like Amazon, that means there's quite a lot of work to do to get to $4 trillion. Alphabet's shares were trading for around $192 on Thursday afternoon, which was an intraday decline of 2%. Alphabet's most recent earnings report came out on July 23. Meta The only other company within spitting distance of $4 trillion is Meta, which, as of this writing, has a market cap of around $2 trillion. Following its latest earnings release on Wednesday, Meta shares increased 12%, with revenues up 22% year over year, and net income up 36%.
