New York Post20-05-2025
Ted Danson is raising a glass to the one and only George Wendt.
Hours after news of Wendt's death at age 76 broke, the 'Man on the Inside' star, 77, shared a heartfelt sentiment for his fallen co-star.
'I am devastated to hear that Georgie is no longer with us,' a rep for Danson shared with The Post. 'I am sending all my love to Bernadette and the children. It is going to take me a long time to get used to this. I love you, Georgie.'

Danson and Wendt starred in 'Cheers' together for 11 seasons from 1982 to 1993, with Danson portraying Sam Malone, and Wendt starring as Norman Peterson.
During their time on the series, Wendt garnered six consecutive Emmy nominations for his performance as Norm, while Danson earned 11 and won two.
The 'Cheers' nostalgia was at an all-time high in recent years, as the cast reunited at the Emmys in January 2024.

Wendt, Danson, Kelsey Grammer, Rhea Perlman and John Ratzenberger reunited as part of a special tribute at the awards ceremony honoring the most beloved shows in television history.
The cast appeared at a replica of the iconic Boston bar, with host Anthony Anderson calling the NBC sitcom 'one of the greatest television shows of all time.'
'This feels nice to be here in front of you,' Danson said, before Ratzenberger, 78, remarked that the event was a 'long overdue class reunion.'

Grammer, 70, noted, 'Being together brings back some great memories of a show we're all very proud of.'
Absent from the festivities was Woody Harrelson, who starred in the show's fourth season as bartender Woody Boyd.
'Woody Harrelson couldn't make 'Cheers' because he's in a play,' Jesse Collins, an executive producer for the Emmys, told the Hollywood Reporter at the time.
Added Collins, 'So there were a few people where there were just logistical challenges. But we were lucky to get so many people who were willing to participate.'
In April, Danson got candid on some behind-the-scenes drama of the show, setting the record straight on a 30-year-long rift he had with Grammer.

While talking to the 'Frasier' actor on his and Harrelson's, 63, 'Where Everybody Knows Your Name' podcast last October, Danson told Grammer: 'I missed out on the last 30 years of Kelsey Grammer, and I feel like it's my bad, my doing, and I almost feel like apologizing to you.'

Juliana Aiden Martinez Joins ‘FBI' Cast Following Surprise Exit From ‘Law and Order SVU'

Juliana Aidén Martinez has already booked a new role following her surprise departure from Law & Order: SVU. Martinez, 34, has been cast as a brand new character on FBI, according to TV Line. Dedicated fans know, however, that CBS' FBI exists in the same universe as Dick Wolf's Law & Order: SVU. On the NBC series, Martinez played Detective Kate Silva for one season before her exit was announced. During the season 26 finale, which aired in May, undercover detective Joe Velasco (Octavio Pisano) was promoted to detective second grade. Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and the rest of the team celebrated the accomplishment before going on to solve another case. The season ended with a promotion ceremony for Velasco and 15 others. News broke earlier that month that Pisano, 38, and Martinez were leaving the NBC series after season 26. Pisano originally joined Law & Order: SVU in season 23 while Martinez came on board during season 26. The show has since been officially renewed for season 27 with Michele Fazekas was announced as the series' first female showrunner, but no further explanation was given for Pisano and Martinez's departures. Which 'Law and Order: SVU' Stars Are — And Aren't — Returning for Season 27 After Multiple Cast Exits Law & Order: SVU, which premiered in 1999, follows detectives from the NYPD's Special Victims Unit as they investigate and prosecute sexually-based crimes. The legal drama stars Hargitay, Ice T, Peter Scanavino and Kevin Kane and has seen many cast members come and go. While fans won't see more of Velasco and Silva, Kelli Giddish's Rollins is officially returning in season 27. Giddish, 45, originally departed Law & Order: SVU in the middle of season 24 in 2022 after more than a decade on the show. She was a guest star in various episodes throughout seasons 25 and 26 before being confirmed as a series regular for the upcoming season. Martinez's role on FBI, meanwhile, comes as the show attempts to fill the space left behind by Katherine Renee Kane's Tiffany Wallace. After Kane's exit, Emily Alabi came on board as Dani Rhodes. She will be returning in season 8, but only to wrap up her character's story line. CBS wrote off Tiffany two months after news broke that Kane, 33, was exiting the series during season 7. The actress joined the cast in 2020 during season 3 after Ebonee Noel, who played Kristen Chazal, left the show at the end of season 2. Most Shocking TV Exits of 2025 So Far: From 'Emily in Paris' to 'General Hospital' Kane confirmed her departure in August 2024, telling Deadline in a statement that it was 'time to look towards new creative endeavors.' She added: 'I'm excited for the future and wish the show all the best.' Prior to her exit, Kane exclusively told Us Weekly that she was looking forward to expanding her character. 'I think what she needs and what I want to see is for her to soften up. For her to have more ease in her life,' she said in May 2024. 'I think the way that she is driven and passionate about her work is great, and I think it's why people love her. But I absolutely want to explore more colors of who she is as a woman.' ESPN isn't worried about any Shane Gillis backlash over ESPYs monologue

Shane Gillis' monologue at the ESPY Awards on Wednesday night has left plenty of people divided over the contents of the jokes, but the Disney-owned sports network isn't concerned about the reaction that Gillis' routine received, The Post has confirmed. During his roughly 10-minute opening, Gillis poked fun at just about everyone from popular sports figures to President Donald Trump in a biting opening sequence to kick off the annual sports award show. The Worldwide Leader always knew Gillis' comedic stylings weren't going to be for everyone, as TMZ first reported, but there were no worries about the 'Tires' star who has worked with the network on its 'College GameDay' show. 3 Host Shane Gillis speaks at the ESPY Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, Wednesday, July 16, 2025. AP ESPN declined comment when reached by The Post. Among the topics that Gillis touched upon were Trump, Caitlin Clark, Aaron Rodgers and Jeffrey Epstein. The well-known comedian received mixed reactions during his eyebrow-raising opening remarks. Gillis asserted that women's soccer legend Megan Rapinoe was not a 'good time' in one of his first quips of the night and later joked that he and Clark, the WNBA superstar, had a lot in common because they were both 'whites from the Midwest who have nailed a bunch of 3s.' 3 Host Shane Gillis, top right, speaks at the ESPY Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, Wednesday, July 16, 2025. AP 'When Caitlin Clark retires from the WNBA, she's going to work at a Waffle House so she can continue doing what she loves most, fist fighting black women,' he continued. In one of his most well-received jokes of the night, he aimed Bill Belichick and girlfriend Jordon Hudson after making a Shohei Ohtani joke related to his disgraced interpreter Ippei Mizuhara. 'A bookie is what Bill Belichick reads to his girlfriend before bedtime,' Gillis said on stage before launching into a list of crude titles for classic books. At least one former ESPNer didn't enjoy the show. 3 Nick Sirianni, Josh Sweat, Jalen Carter, and Jordan Mailata accept the Best Team Award from Druski and Shane Gillis onstage during the 2025 ESPY Awards at Dolby Theatre on July 16, 2025 in Hollywood, California. Getty Images 'In a year of crazy growth for women's sports choosing an ESPYs host who doesn't even try to make clever jokes about women athletes (he at least *attempted* for the men),' Sarah Spain wrote on X on Thursday, 'he goes with hacky 'no one knows the WNBA' bits, 'Pinoe is a bad time' & repeatedly insults Black women. COOL.'

Comcast's Peacock to raise streaming prices next week, introduce new streamlined tier

Peacock, a streaming service by Comcast-owned NBCUniversal, said on Thursday it will raise prices by $3 later this month and begin testing a new narrowed-down tier for users. The price for Peacock's ad-supported premium plan will increase to $10.99 per month, while the premium plus plan will now be priced at $16.99 per month, starting July 23, according to a statement by the streaming service. Peacock will begin testing a 'Select' tier, targeting TV lovers, featuring current seasons of shows on NBC and Bravo and an assortment of library titles, priced at $7.99 a month. The price increases come on top of an earlier $2 rise rolled out before the Olympic Games in Paris last year. Peacock, which claims it will stream more live sports than Amazon Prime, Paramount+, Hulu, HBO Max, Apple TV and Netflix combined in 2026, reported total paid subscribers of 41 million in the first quarter, compared with 36 million at the end of last year. The streaming service offers reality shows such as 'Love Island USA' and films including 'Wicked' and 'Nosferatu.'
