Cole Palmer stars as Chelsea claim stunning Club World Cup victory against PSG

Palmer scored two fine goals and created another for Joao Pedro, all in the first half, as the Premier League side defied huge odds in New York to shock the reigning European champions.
Goalkeeper Robert Sanchez was also outstanding as the Blues, who had been clear underdogs at the MetLife Stadium, secured a jackpot in excess of £90million as the first winners of FIFA's new 32-team tournament.

PSG lost their discipline in the closing stages and Joao Neves was sent off with five minutes remaining for pulling the hair of Marc Cucurella.
FIFA, the world governing body, had been determined to make the occasion, which was attended by US President Donald Trump, a huge success.
The pre-match programme, which included a performance from Robbie Williams and a US Air Force flyover, overran and led to a kick-off delay – but Chelsea all but had the game wrapped up before Doja Cat appeared at half-time.
It was a remarkable achievement against a PSG side that had been chasing their fifth trophy of a glorious season.
Palmer, the Conference League final match-winner, was at his dazzling best and many in the stadium thought he had opened the scoring after eight minutes when he curled narrowly wide from a Pedro flick.
PSG should have made the most of that reprieve and taken the lead themselves after Fabian Ruiz played in Desire Doue, but he opted to pass instead of shoot and Cucurella cleared.
Doue did get an effort on goal shortly afterwards but Sanchez reacted well.
Palmer took charge of the match after 22 minutes when he placed a left-foot shot perfectly into the bottom corner after Malo Gusto had seen his own attempt blocked.
PSG were left reeling when he repeated the feat just eight minutes later.
This time Palmer created the opportunity himself, latching onto a long ball from Levi Colwill and cutting inside from the right, and the finish was every bit as composed.
He was not finished there either, turning provider before the interval to slip Pedro through on goal.
The Brazilian, who scored twice on his full debut in the semi-final win over Fluminense, showed equally great composure to lift the ball over Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Mr Trump said he was 'having a really great time' when interviewed by broadcaster DAZN at half-time and the Chelsea fans in the 81,118 crowd would doubtless have said likewise after such a scintillating display.
PSG rallied but Sanchez kept out a header from Neves and then showed brilliant reflexes to paw away a close-range snap-shot on the turn from Ousmane Dembele.
Liam Delap had a superb effort pushed away by Donnarumma within moments of coming off the Chelsea bench and went close again soon after.
PSG were beaten and frustration was evident as Neves clashed with Cucurella and earned a red card after tugging at the Spaniard's hair.
There were further scuffles after the final whistle as Chelsea's squad and staff poured onto the field to celebrate and PSG manager Luis Enrique was involved in an ugly incident with Pedro.

Bryan Mbeumo to Man Utd transfer runs into another problem after Newcastle make move

Manchester United's pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo has suffered a huge blow, with Newcastle now interested in Yoane Wissa and Brentford unwilling to sell both players this summer Bryan Mbeumo's potential move to Manchester United has suffered another blow. United have already had several bids rejected for the Brentford star and the two clubs remain millions apart in their valuation of Mbeumo. ‌ It was recently revealed that appointment of Keith Andrews as Brentford's new head coach has complicated matters as he wants to keep top players like Mbeumo at the club. Andrews replaced Thomas Frank last month after the Dane took over from Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham. ‌ And United's pursuit of Mbeumo has taken another hit after it emerged that Newcastle are targeting Yoane Wissa, with Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike closing in on a move to Liverpool. ‌ According to talkSPORT, Newcastle are set to make a formal approach for Wissa, who is valued at more than £50m by Brentford. The report also states that Brentford do not want to lose both Wissa and Mbeumo in the same window. As a result, United could miss out on Mbeumo altogether if Newcastle are able to sign Wissa. The news comes after Brentford's director of football Phil Giles suggested Mbeumo could end up stating in west London after all. "He had a fantastic season," Giles told BBC Sport said when asked about Mbeumo's future last month. "We expected big interest in him, we have had big interest in him. He has his ideas about where he wants to take his career, of course he does – he is well within his rights to do that. We are in constant dialogue with him and representatives about that. ‌ "As it stands at the minute we don't have an agreement in place for him to leave. It is not impossible he is still a Brentford player next season if we agree he is going to stay. It has to be the right deal for Brentford, any club will tell you that. "If it's not right deal why would we do it? He is certainly one of our best players, if not our best player, and we need our best players. There's no harm in keeping your best players." Mbeumo was key for Brentford last season as he netted 20 Premier League goals in 38 games, with only Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, Newcastle striker Alexander Isak and Manchester City's Erling Haaland outscoring him.

Liverpool handed key boost as Hugo Ekitike transfer enters advanced talks

Liverpool are in advanced talks with Eintracht Frankfurt over Hugo Ekitike. The Premier League champions could make the French forward their fourth major summer signing if a deal can be agreed with the Bundesliga club. It is expected that Ekitike would want to make the switch to Anfield and that personal terms could be agreed with the 23-year-old. The former Paris Saint-Germain player has a €100m (£86m) release clause though it is not yet apparent if Liverpool will trigger it or agree a lower price with Eintracht. Liverpool concentrated their attentions on Ekitike after asking about Alexander Isak but Newcastle have long taken the view their top scorer is not for sale. However, Liverpool's approach for Ekitike could be a blow for the Carabao Cup winners, who had bid for him themselves in their attempts to strengthen their forward line. Newcastle have reportedly turned to Brentford attacker Yoane Wissa instead as they look for a replacement for Callum Wilson, who left St James' Park when his contract expired. Ekitike scored 22 goals in all competitions for Eintracht last season, forming a prolific forward partnership with Omar Marmoush before the Egyptian was signed by Manchester City. Liverpool have already committed around £170m, with the potential for more in add-ons, in transfer fees this summer to bring in Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and the club record buy Florian Wirtz. However, they could recoup some money with doubts about Darwin Nunez's future and with Bayern Munich having submitted an opening offer for Luis Diaz, though Liverpool rejected that €67.5m bid.
