Adani Airport Holdings terminates partnership with Chinese company DragonPass
New Delhi [India], May 15 (ANI): Adani Airport Holdings announced the immediate end of its partnership with the newly formed partnership with Chinese company DragonPass on Thursday, just a week after the association began.
The platform offered airport lounge access services. A spokesperson confirmed that DragonPass customers will no longer get access to lounges at Adani-managed airports, though the change will not impact the lounge and travel experience of other passengers.
'Our association with DragonPass, which provided access to airport lounges, has been terminated with immediate effect. DragonPass customers will no longer have access to lounges at Adani-managed airports. This change will have no impact on the airport lounge and travel experience for other customers,' an Adani Airport Holdings spokesperson said.
This comes a week after Adani Digital Labs partnered with Dragonpass to elevate fliers' airport lounge and travel experiences.
Adani Digital Labs is the digital innovation arm of the Adani Group, dedicated to transforming how billions of users interact with essential services.
The company said that as the digital extension of Adani-managed airports under Adani Airports Holdings Limited (AAHL) and Adani Enterprises Ltd. (AEL), ADL plays a strategic role in shaping the future of travel and airport experiences.

In another development, Adani Power said on Saturday that it won a tightly contested bid to supply 1500 MW (net) of thermal power to Uttar Pradesh.
As part of the contract, the Adani Group company will supply power at a highly competitive tariff of Rs 5.383 per unit from a greenfield 2x800 MW (1500 MW net) Ultra-supercritical power plant to be set up in the state under the Design, Build, Finance, Own, and Operate (DBFOO) model. (ANI)

Government Extends Top Tax Authority CBDT Chairman's Tenure By A Year
New Delhi: The government has extended the tenure of Ravi Agrawal as the Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) by another year. The CBDT is the apex policymaking body of the Income Tax Department, and its chairman and members are senior Indian Revenue Service officers. "The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved re-appointment of Ravi Agrawal, IRS as Chairman, Central Board of Direct Taxes on contract basis, for a period of one year with effect from July 1, 2025 till June 30, 2026 or until further orders, whichever is earlier," the government order stated. The re-appointment will be on the usual terms and conditions applicable to re-employed Central government officers, in relaxation of the Recruitment Rules. Agarwal, a 1988 batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer from the income tax cadre, had succeeded Nitin Gupta, 1986 batch IRS officer, in June 2024 as Chairman of the CBDT. He was serving as a member of the CBDT (Administration) from July 2023 before his appointment as chairman. The CBDT is headed by a chairman and can have six members who are in the rank of special secretary. Meanwhile, CBDT has asked all the principal chief commissioners of Income Tax to exercise effective supervision over their assessing officers and make sure that questions sent by them to a taxpayer are justified, and that irrelevant queries are completely avoided. The apex body has directed Income Tax Department officials to ensure due application of mind while issuing notices for scrutiny and assessment of a taxpayer's return, emphasising that all queries should be relevant and specific. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman earlier this week asked income-tax officials to ensure that tax compliance processes are made simpler, more transparent and taxpayer-friendly. The Finance Minister also directed all principal chief commissioners of income tax to prioritise and accelerate the disposal of disputed tax demands that are currently pending before the faceless appellate authorities, the finance ministry said in a statement. About 577,000 appeals were pending at the start of the current fiscal year. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) is targeting to address more than 225,000 appeals in FY 2025-26 involving over Rs 10 lakh crore of disputed demand. The Finance Minister highlighted that prompt and time-bound disposal of taxpayer grievances is essential for ensuring responsive governance.

Cement industry grows 9% in May; margins rise on stable input costs: Icra
The cement industry has registered a 9 per cent volume growth in May this year at 39.6 million metric tonnes (MT), while the average cement prices also increased by 8 per cent, says a report. According to the latest report by rating agency Icra, the cement industry, which is facing a lower sales realisation, also reported a price growth of 8 per cent to Rs 360 per 50 kg bag in May 2025. Moreover, there is also improvement in operating margins, led by stable input costs as energy prices of coal and petcoke, are lower and diesel prices are stable, the report added. "In the first two months (April and May) of FY'26, the prices were up 7 per cent year-on-year (YoY) at Rs 360/bag (of 50 kg). In FY2025, cement prices declined by 7 per cent YoY to Rs 340/bag," it said. Moreover, in the months of April and May this fiscal, volumes increased by 8 per cent YoY to 78.7 million MT. "In FY2025, volumes rose by 6.3 per cent to 453.0 million MT," it said. Based on this, Icra expects cement volumes to grow by 6-7 per cent YoY to 480-485 million MT in FY2026, backed by sustained demand from the housing and infrastructure sectors. "The operating margins for Icra's sample set of companies are likely to improve by 80-150 bps to 16.3-17.0 per cent in FY2026, on account of expected hike in cement prices and stable input costs," it said. Prices of inputs as coal and petcoke decreased and diesel was stable in June despite geopolitical tensions. "In June 2025, coal prices decreased by 19 per cent YoY to USD 100/MT and petcoke prices were lower by 2 per cent YoY at Rs 10,880/MT. Diesel was stable at Rs 88/litre on a YoY basis. "In Q1 FY2026, the prices of coal were lower by 6 per cent, petcoke prices were higher by 1 per cent and diesel prices were stable on a YoY basis," it said. According to the Cement Manufacturers' Association (CMA), the apex body of large cement plants in India, India's installed cement capacity stood at 690 MT.

MoU signed for fire testing and training centre at IIT-P
Patna: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on Saturday between the Building Construction Department (BCD) and the Indian Institute of Technology-Patna (IIT-P) for establishing the 'Centre of Excellence for Fire Testing, Training, and Research'. Kumar Ravi, BCD's Secretary, presided over the ceremony. The estimated cost of the project is around Rs 17.36 crore. The exchange of MoU took place between chief engineer (design) Reza Waris Warsi and IIT-Patna's director T N Singh. Engineers and other officials from the department were present at the ceremony. The proposed facility will support the selection of modern fire safety equipment for current and future projects of the BCD, evaluate material fire resistance, analyse post-fire structural damage, implement retrofitting solutions, and investigate fire propagation patterns. Addressing the event, Ravi emphasised the importance of this initiative in enhancing fire safety at govt buildings. He noted that the upgraded institute, unique in the North Eastern region, will benefit from IIT's expert guidance for secure building construction.
