"US was never honest broker": AIMIM chief Owaisi on US strikes on Iran's nuclear sites

India Gazette6 days ago

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], June 22 (ANI): AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday came down heavily against the United States for bombing Iran's nuclear sites and citing past military interventions in Iraq and Libya stated that Washington was never 'an honest broker', .
Speaking with ANI, Owaisi said, 'US was never an honest broker. Whether it is Iraq, Libya or Palestine. The US is sitting completely silent on the ethnic cleansing taking place in Gaza.'
Criticising US 'silence' over Israel's military action on Gaza, Owaisi said, 'US policy is only to cover up the crimes of the of Israeli government.'
'You went into Iraq, saying they were creating these weapons of mass destruction, and nothing was found over there. You removed Gaddafi in Libya, and nothing happened. Saddam was killed Gaddafi was killed. US policy is only to cover up the crimes of the of Israeli government. What is happening in Gaza? A genocide is happening, and no one is talking about it,' Owaisi said.
The Lok Sabha MP from Hyderabad further questioned whether Pakistan had supported Trump only to see him drop bombs on a sovereign nation.
'We should ask Pakistanis if for this they want Trump to get a Nobel Peace Prize...' Owaisi said referring to the strikes carried out by the United States on Iran's nuclear sites in Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordow.
The AIMIM leader further mocked Pakistan's military leadership, saying, '...Did Pakistan's General (Army chief Asim Munir) have lunch with the US president for this? They all have been exposed today.'
Slamming Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Owaisi said, 'This attack by the US has helped Netanyahu, who is a butcher of Palestinians... A genocide is happening in Gaza, and the US is not worried about it.' He said, 'This man (Netanyahu), he has butchered Palestinians... He is doing ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in the West Bank and in Gaza. History will remember him as the butcher of Palestinians.'
Owaisi also warned of serious consequences for India if a full-scale war breaks out in the region. 'We must also remember that more than 16 million Indians live in the Gulf and Middle East, and if that area erupts in a war, which unfortunately is very likely, then it will have a grave impact on the Indians living there,' he told ANI.
The AIMIM chief's remarks come hours after the US and Israel launched strikes on Iran's nuclear sites, including Fordow. Fordow is Iran's main enrichment location for uranium enrichment to 60 per cent. (ANI)

‘Secular' and ‘socialist' not core to Indian culture: Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday claimed that the words 'secular' and 'socialist' are not core to Indian culture and called for a discussion on their removal from the Constitution. The Bharatiya Janata Party leader's comments come a day after the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh called for a review of the inclusion of these two terms in the Preamble. The RSS is the parent organisation of the ruling BJP. The words 'socialist' and 'secular' were not part of the Constitution adopted in 1950 and were added in 1976 through the 42nd constitutional amendment. Chouhan made the statement while addressing an event in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi, marking 50 years since the Emergency was declared by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's government in 1975. In a video shared on social media, he said: 'The core of Indian culture is equal respect for all religions and not secular.' Talking about socialism, the former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh added that believing everyone to be like oneself is a core Indian thought. 'There is no need for socialism here,' he said. 'We have all said for long that all should be treated alike. So, the word socialism is also not needed.' #WATCH | Varanasi, UP | Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan says, "The basic sentiment of India is equality of all religions... Secularism is not the core of our culture. The word secularism was added (to our culture) during the Emergency. It should be removed... Live and let… — ANI (@ANI) June 27, 2025 In Jammu, Union Minister Jitendra Singh also supported the RSS's call. ' Any right-thinking citizen ' would agree that these terms were added under exceptional circumstances and were not part of the original Constitution, The New Indian Express quoted Singh as saying. Singh added that Ambedkar crafted ' one of the best Constitutions of the world '' and thus 'if it was not his thinking, then with what thought someone added these words', as per The Indian Express. Meanwhile, on Friday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticised the RSS for seeking a review of the two words in the Preamble, saying that the Hindutva organisation's ' mask had come off again '. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) also said on Friday that the Hindutva organisation's 'proposal' ' exposes the RSS' long-standing objective of subverting the Constitution and its intent to transform India into a Hindu Rashtra, in pursuit of its Hindutva project.' In 2015, a controversy erupted after the BJP-led Union government's newspaper advertisements on Republic Day featured a Preamble with the two words omitted. In September 2023, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury claimed that the two words were missing from the Preamble in the copies of the Constitution distributed to the MPs in the new Parliament building. In November, the Supreme Court rejected a batch of petitions seeking the deletion of the two terms from the Preamble to the Constitution. The court said there was no legitimate justification for challenging the constitutional amendment several decades later.

Defence Secretary Unpacks India's Tactical Brilliance In Op Sindoor At CNN-News18 Townhall

Last Updated: The Defence Secretary revealed how India planned the Operation Sindoor's targets in Pakistan, in response to barbaric Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh on Saturday revealed during CNN-News18 Defence Townhall how planning went into Operation Sindoor and how the targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir were chosen and with what message. He said that after the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, India wanted to convey the message, which could only be conveyed if terror headquarters were struck deep inside Pakistan. Therefore, LeT and Jaish headquarters in Muridke and Bahawalpur were chosen, he said. 'After Pahalgam, there was meticulous planning of what target we should hit. The intent this time was to go beyond the foot soldiers and hit the headquarters, particularly LET and Jaish at Muridke and Bahawalpur. These outfits' relationship with terror in India goes back to 26/11. The idea was to send a clear message, and the message would only go if we hit the headquarters and not just some of the camps. The planning, therefore, was focused on that. The intent was to hit only the terrorist outfits," he said while speaking at CNN-News18 Defence Townhall. 'This was to convey to the Pakistanis that this was a non-escalatory, calibrated operation against terrorists. That was conveyed to them the next day, they did not respond to our calls and decided to escalate," he added. More to follow…
