Vehicle pursuit in Jones County results in arrest for drug possession

JONES COUNTY, N.C. (WNCT) — A vehicle pursuit in Pink Hill leads to one person being arrested for possession of drugs and another with a warrant out for their arrest.
On Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at around 8:50 pm, Sergeant Shackley was patrolling the Pink Hill area of Jones County. Sergeant Shackley noticed a vehicle with an equipment violation and attempted a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and sped up, which resulted in a vehicle pursuit. During the pursuit, the passenger was throwing items at Sergeant Shackley.
The pursuit ended in Lenoir County, where the driver, Kellie Jo Coffee, was arrested. The passenger of the vehicle, Justin Wayne Houston, fled from the vehicle on foot. The Lenoir County Sheriff's Office, Kinston Police Department, Pink Hill Police Department, and Duplin County Sheriff's Office responded to assist the Jones County Sheriff's Office in attempting to find the suspect who fled on foot. Since the suspect was not found, warrants have been obtained against the individual, and justice will be served at a later date.
The items Coffee threw from the vehicle was identified as various drug paraphernalia and felony amounts of narcotics.
The suspect's vehicle was seized under NCGS 20-28.3, also known as the Run and Done Law.

Felony Flee to Elude Arrest with a Motor Vehicle.
PWIMSD Methamphetamine.
PWIMSD Schedule II Controlled Substance.
Felony Maintain a Vehicle for Controlled Substances.
Felony Conspiracy.
DWLR Impaired Revocation.
Resisting Public Officer.
Possess Drug Paraphernalia.
Exceeding Posted Speed.
Rear Lamps Violation.
She is being held under a $30,000.00 secured bond.
Houston has active warrants for:
PWIMSD Methamphetamine.
PWIMSD Schedule II Controlled Substance.
Felony Conspiracy.
Resisting Public Officer.
Possess Drug Paraphernalia.

Kinston police looking for vehicle involved in hit-and-run

KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) — The Kinston Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run Monday, June 9, 2025 involving a Dodge Ram pickup made somewhere from 2019-2024. It is believed to be either a 2500, 3500 or 5500. Law enforcement officers said it happened on Haskett Road and the truck was last seen traveling on Haskett Road and Eagle Road. The vehicle should have significant front-end damage on the passenger side and a missing passenger side fog light.
