Tasha Ghouri finally speaks out on Strictly controversy with 7-word statement
Love Island bombshell and now TV personality, campaigner and author, Tasha Ghouri is going from strength to strength. After finishing second in Strictly Come Dancing last year, the inspiring reality star launched her book, Your Superpower, in February, detailing the hurdles she battled to get where she is now. Tasha, who was born deaf and has a cochlear implant, tells OK! she 'still faces difficulties' when it comes to her deafness.
But in the spirit she's embraced everything so far in her career, the 26-year-old from Thirsk, North Yorkshire, won't let it stop her. Here, Tasha – whose split from Andrew Le Page was confirmed by her ex in February– tells us about being a celebrity ambassador for Make-A-Wish and Disney, where she lent her support to A Disney Wish UK – a three-day experience at Hoar Cross Hall in Staffordshire that brought the magic of Disney to more than 200 children living with critical illness.

She also looks back at her unforgettable Strictly journey, partnered with Aljaž Škorjanec, and her pride at representing the deaf community...
Hi, Tasha! You've partnered with Disney and Make-A-Wish – can you tell us more?
The work they do is incredible. They're a great charity, providing magical, beautiful experiences for all these families. I felt so honoured to be a part of that, to just make them happy, make them go away with these beautiful memories. It was so emotional and magical– I look back on it and just feel grateful to be part of that.
You've talked about facing discrimination for being deaf. Do you still face that?
Yeah, I do still face difficulties today, but, you know, it doesn't compare at all to that these children go through every single day. Everyone has their own difficulties, dealing with disabilities and illnesses, but these children live in a hospital, and for Make-A-Wish to provide an experience where it's all accessible, they can travel and they look after them. It's so important to have that in the world, because the world can be so sad and scary sometimes. It's nice to have that positive light in their lives.
Now that the dust has settled, how do you look back at your time on Strictly?
To make it to the final was just the dream-come-true. That TV show was just the biggest dream of mine since I was a kid, and to say that I made it to the final and I did the tour, the whole experience, is a pinch-me moment for sure.
You've always said you adore dancing. Was this the perfect show for you?
Oh yes, dance is my biggest passion. It was the perfect show for me. I was dancing and having the time of my life and making new friends. I look back with such fond memories of the cast, Strictly really is magic. I'm so excited to see the new cast this year. Honestly, the people doing it are going to love it. They're in for a treat.
There's been controversy around celebrity welfare on Strictly. How did you find it?
My experience on Strictly was really positive. I had the best time. I look back with pure happiness and joy, because I just loved every single second.
Do you have any exciting work projects coming up?
I want to keep doing charity work, be a real advocate for the deaf community and work with charities like Make-A-Wish. These are the things I'm passionate about, I want to help people when I can. That's what is really important to me.
Is there any more fun TV stuff you're working on?
I don't know yet, but the future looks bright. I want to do more presenting and documentaries. I've done a few TV appearances that are coming out soon, but I want to push myself and challenge myself in that direction this year.

Kerry Katona and Katie Price 'desperate' for daughters to do I'm A Celebrity
Kerry Katona and Katie Price appear to be following in Kris Jenner's footsteps and have already mapped out their daughters' rise to fame with a huge reality show Katie Price and Kerry Katona could soon find themselves replacing original momager, Kris Jenner. Former singer Kerry and her glamour model icon Katie have appeared on dozens of reality shows over the course of their careers and now, they've set their sights on their daughters following in their showbiz footsteps. It comes as no surprise that the daughters of two of the most recognisable women in the nation have allegedly been flooded with offers in the past to appear on various shows and now, Kerry admits it's something she's keen for her daughter Heidi to do, alongside Katie's daughter, Princess Andre. While Princess has bagged her own reality show, which Katie has spoken openly about, Kerry admits that she would love to see Heidi and Princess appear alongside one another on a completely different show. It comes after Katie Price worries fans with appearance in family photo after explaining weight loss. The two stars met on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! in 2004, of which Kerry won, she hopes that the pair will one day find themselves in the jungle together. "I'm desperate for Princess and Heidi to do the Jungle together, imagine," Kerry said. In a joint interview with The Sun, Katie added: "I always say Love Island. Heidi and Princess need to do it together." Kerry commented: "The way I see it is, forget management, forget fame, what an amazing memory, what an amazing adventure. So I think if Heidi goes to Love Island for three months and has the best time then that's amazing." Meanwhile, she added that while people may be quick to criticise their children for being "nepo-babies", she admits that everybody has a contact, somewhere. She commented: "I can open a door for you. Whether you get through that door and you stay through it, that's on your own f****ing merit. You don't see Brooklyn Beckham playing f****ing football, because he's sh*t." But Heidi isn't the only one of Kerry's daughters that she's encouraging to appear on Love Island. Speaking to the Mirror, she previously said: "Do Love Island make a sh*t load of money, Lilly!" Meanwhile, Katie has opened up about Princess's upcoming show. Speaking to her sister, Sophie, on their podcast, she said: "Princess is now officially an adult so mummy and Princess can now go out together. If certain people would let her be seen with me. "Everyone knows she's doing this documentary - and I'm not in it. Certain people don't think it's good for Princess to be seen with me. Certain people that used to look after me." "You aren't on brand, Katie. You are too risky, Katie, that's why," her sister retorted. "It's pathetic. I'm her mother," Katie snapped. "It's so sad," she lamented. "When certain people who used to look after me are now looking after..." Katie was then cut off by her sister Sophie, who encouraged her to "save it for another day." The MailOnline reported that dad Peter Andre and his wife Emily will be featured but Katie will be taking a back seat. A source said: "Katie will not be in Princess's show, the decision has been made and it's final. Princess loves her mum, and they have a great relationship, but the show is all about her work and home life. "Television bosses were adamant that nothing was to be 'staged' to include Katie as it would not be a real and truthful insight into her life." The show will follow Princess up to her turning 18 in June.
