Are the WNBA's Connecticut Sun going to stay put instead of moving to Boston?
Now, according to recent reporting from MassLive's Kenneth Manoj, Sun president Jennifer Rizzotti related that the team has not, in fact, actually been sold to any party at present. "Contrary to some of the articles that were out yesterday, the team has not been sold," said Rizzotti on Sunday (Aug. 3). " ... unless it comes out of official Connecticut Sun or Mohegan Sun channels, it's not official."
Rizzotti added that "any sale or relocation is subject to board approval, so ... non-disclosure agreement comes into play, so we're not allowed to actually talk about specific groups that we may have been talking to."
"I can say that I have met personally with different investment groups over the last few months, and it's been a thorough process, and we're not quite at the finish line yet," said the Sun president, perhaps hinting that the alluded-to discussions might be more complex than we had been led to believe by earlier reports.
For now, it seems that the league would prefer Boston get a franchise via expansion, suggesting that there could be an effort to sell the Sun, but keep them in their current market. And perhaps develop dedicated practice facilities they currently lack.

Report: Boston Celtics backup big man Neemias Queta had offseason knee surgery
Backup Boston Celtics big man Neemias Queta has had offseason knee surgery, according to recent reporting from CLNS Media reporter Bobby Manning. Per the CLNS Media reporter, Queta underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee soon after Boston fell to the New York Knicks in the 2025 NBA Eastern Conference Semifinals. Queta has taken to the court in exhibition play since for his Portuguese National Team in FIBA play this summer with a 15-point, 9-rebound exhibition win vs. Spain, so the surgical intervention seems to have healed right for the Lisbon native. "It's been good," said Queta of his recovery to date. "We've been dealing with this stuff (since) a couple years ago." "We just decided it was a great time for us to do it," he added. "We're trying to get back to 100%. We feel pretty confident in the process, and we're just grateful that we were taken care of, and I want to make sure I'm healthy and get back to 100%, and I feel like I'm on the right path to do that." "We're getting there slowly but surely," added the Boston big man. "We're reconditioning our body, we're figuring out ways to be athletic, ways to be out there moving well." "We're just trying to figure out the movement patterns to get back, and I think it's going well. I'm really confident in the work that I put in, the amount of hours that I put in, and it's going to show." Listen to "Havlicek Stole the Pod" on: Spotify: iTunes: YouTube:

Liberty's rash of injuries comes with Jonquel Jones silver lining
We've got you covered on the Liberty beat Text with Madeline Kenney as she follows the Liberty — she's sharing behind-the-scenes info and insights with Sports+ subscribers. SIGN UP NOW One would think that losing four of the past five games and suffering defeats to two of the WNBA's lowest-ranked teams would have the injury-plagued Liberty reeling. But Jonquel Jones would rather find the silver lining in the current situation than dwell on the difficulties. Advertisement The Liberty's three frontcourt injuries — with Breanna Stewart, Nyara Sabally and Kennedy Burke all sidelined indefinitely — have put a heavier burden on Jones' shoulders over the past 10 days, despite her only returning from a monthlong injury absence after the All-Star break. But Jones believes her larger role paired with the team's grueling stretch of playing six games in those 10 days – with the final contest of this run being Tuesday night against the Wings — has expedited her reintegration process.
