Rain Lashes Parts Of Delhi, Weather Office Issues Red Alert
Parts of the city were lashed by rain on Sunday evening, bringing relief from the humid weather. The weather department has issued a red alert for more showers over the next few hours and throughout Monday.
The weather department, in its latest forecast, said a cloud mass approaching from the southeast may cause light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning over parts of Delhi-NCR.
A red alert indicates vigilance, according to the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) colour code.
Sunday's maximum temperature was recorded at 38.4 degrees Celsius, while the minimum settled at 25.1 degrees Celsius -- 2.2 notches below the season's average.
For Monday, the department has forecast cloudy skies and moderate rainfall across the city. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 33 and 26 degrees Celsius.
The air quality was recorded in the 'satisfactory' category at 4 pm on Sunday, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 86, Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data showed.
An AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 to 100 'satisfactory', 101 to 200 'moderate', 201 to 300 'poor', 301 to 400 'very poor', and 401 to 500 'severe', according to the CPCB.

The city experienced gusty winds, reaching up to 57 kmph at Pragati Maidan, 55 kmph at Palam, and 37 kmph at Mayur Vihar. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), moderate rain is expected on Monday, followed by light rain through the week. Sunday's maximum temperature was 34.8 degrees Celsius, a degree below normal. The minimum temperature settled at 25.1 degrees Celsius, 2 degrees below normal. On Monday, the maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be between 33 and 26 degrees Celsius. Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, meanwhile, attributed the clean air to measures implemented by the government as part of the Environment Action Plan 2025. 'We are seeing a consistent pattern of better air days during months that have typically recorded higher pollution. The focus continues to be on steady implementation — from enforcement to landfill operations — to support sustainable outcomes,' he said. Gurgaon: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a "yellow alert" for the city, Faridabad, Rewari, and surrounding districts on Monday, forecasting thunderstorms, lightning, and moderate rain over the next 24 hours. While Itanagar recorded a maximum temperature of 39 degree Celsius, breaking its previous highest maximum temperature of 38.8 degree Celsius recorded on July 19, 2018, Mazbat in lower Assam touched 39.9 degree Celsius, breaking its previous record of 38.4 degree Celsius recorded on July 6, 1984.
