Lightning captain Nat Panagarry urges women to 'know their normal'
Panagarry has hit new heights on the court, leading Lightning to back-to-back Netball Super League titles, and one of the league's most recognisable faces wants to use her platform to help improve knowledge and education within the sport and beyond.
'I just want to keep being as open and honest as I can,' she said. 'Going through Katie's journey has made me more self-aware about what is going on with my body.
'We are so in tune with her body and what her normal is, it made me thing 'Do I know what my normal is?'
'It has made me more in tune with that, and that is something I want to keep putting out there especially to young girls and young women; how important it is to know your normal.
'Sometimes we think it's just happening, and everyone is going through it, but that is not always the case.
'I have grown up over the years where it was whatever was going on, you just had to get on with it.
"Periods and menstrual cycles are such a natural process, but I was taught to just manage it, go on the pill, and if you are going through certain symptoms it is really normal, when that's not the case.
'Over the last few years, you are seeing players step up and talk about the situations they are going through.
"Not just female health, but things like grief, and how they are balancing it all. The more open and honest we are as players; I think fans really connect to that.'
Support for female-specific health issues has improved dramatically over the course of Panagarry's career, with Lightning now able to provide support around the impact of players' menstrual cycles alongside greater awareness of other issues such as pelvic floor health.
England Netball also launched NETBALLHer to provide greater information and support around issues such as sports bras, menopause, menstrual cycles and pelvic health.
But the 34-year-old believes there is still more that can be done to support players at both the elite level, and those coming through pathways.
'Through England and through Lightning we fill something out daily called PDMS, which is how tired you are, how sore you are and also tracking your period,' she added.
'For staff and coaches, that helps them offer support.
'The next step for me is tailoring training, if there is a high chance of injury. It is being able to have that support financially to offer that. We are in a great space in netball, but there are still steps we can take such as training programmes being more personalised.
'Knowing what your cycle look like is really important, I wish I had tracked it when I was younger. I don't think I ever knew what was truly happening to my body each week. I could have spoken to my coaches and been more honest with them and they could have helped me.'
On the court, Panagarry's focus is on reaching another Grand Final as Lightning chase an unprecedented hat-trick of Netball Super League titles.
With this year's Grand Final hosted at London's O2 Arena, Panagarry is ready to chase history in a number of ways having already sealed a top four spot.
'We have had quite a few arena games that have been amazing, it is really building,' she said.
'As a player, to be in the O2, in an arena we have never played at before and how iconic it is, it is really motivating to be on that court.
'The O2 this season has been on everyone's minds, to say you have done it and been there for the first time. It is definitely a motivator for me.
'We would love to be there; we will give everything we can. We don't get carried away with ourselves, but we did celebrate getting that top four spot and getting it early. Those are the little wins.'

Katie Price, 47, reveals what has got her through her 'painful' bum filler treatment after suffering 'inflammation'
Katie Price has revealed what has got her through her 'painful' bum filler treatment as she opened up in a new video on Instagram on Thursday. The former glamour model, 47, who recently shared a video revealing she was having filler in her bottom, has now shared an update two days later after suffering with 'pain' and 'inflammation'. Katie revealed that a bottle of CBD has been helping her 'get through' the awful time as she admitted that 'sitting on my bum' is causing her pain. Katie said: 'Bum filler update. As you can see I did a photoshoot today with Kerry and what got me through it was my CBD. 'Let me tell you why, I had my bum done two days ago and I've been feeling a bit uncomfortable in that area. 'So I've been taking this today to help with the pain and inflammation and at night sleeping. So it's been my best friend. 'So yeah, I've always said if anyone struggles with sleep, anxiety or pain this in my opinion is the way forward. 'What would I do without it, I know I'm going to have a goodnight sleep again tonight cause I'm going to put some drops in it and remember when you order this shake it load before taking it 'So yeah this has been a godsend because I got the train up and where I'm sitting on my bum walking and all of this, this has been a godsend, CBD oil all the way.' CBD oil, a cannabis-based product, particularly helps pain relief, anxiety reduction, and improved sleep but they are not licensed medicinal products and are not regulated for safety and quality. Katie captioned the post by gushing that the oil has been a 'massive help with her bum filler' and she is 'feeling more comfortable'. She wrote: 'Forgot to post this yesterday after the shoot but wow did I need my @supremecbd I've been so busy recently that I have been taking my oil out and about with me in my bag for if I get anxious or if I need to take a second to myself and calm down. 'Also it has been a massive help with the bum filler! I definitely do feel more comfortable after taking it and I sleep better. 'If anyone struggles with sleep, anxiety, aches or pains, fibromyalgia the list goes on! Give this a go you WILL NOT regret it'. Earlier this week, Katie returned from holiday in Dubai and headed straight to the beauticians for lip filler and bum filler. Sharing a video from the clinic, she said: 'I'm having filler done in my lips not to much though and having my bum done and after I'm getting the train back and taking Harvey to his new place.' The TV star went on to list the benefits of filler rather than undergoing a 'dangerous' BBL in Turkey. She continued: 'See if I had a BBL in Turkey they'd put me to sleep and it's more dangerous cause they use your own fat and this is just filler and I'm here for an hour and a half and go back home and carry on with my day.' Showing off her lips, she added: 'See I've not had my lips done to big today, gone a bit more classy'. In another clip, the star lay on the beautician bed showing off the results of the filler in her bottom as she wore a pink lace thong. She joked: 'BBL on your lunch hour'. Katie - who has previously admitted she suffers with body dysmorphia - is believed to have spent over £130k on cosmetic surgery over the years, with the model saying she has no plans to slow down. What is CBD? According to the NHS: Many cannabis-based products are available to buy online, but their quality and content is not known. They may be illegal in the UK and potentially dangerous. Some products that might claim to be medical cannabis, such as CBD oil or hemp oil, are available to buy legally as food supplements from health stores. But there's no guarantee these are of good quality or provide any health benefits. Depending on the type of medical cannabis you take, it's possible to develop side effects such as: - decreased appetite - diarrhoea - feeling sick - weakness - a behavioural or mood change - dizziness- feeling very tired - feeling high - hallucinations - suicidal thoughts If you experience any side effects from medical cannabis, report these to your medical team. You can also report them through the Yellow Card Scheme. CBD and THC can affect how other medicines work. Always discuss possible interactions with a specialist. CBD can also affect how your liver works, so doctors would need to monitor you regularly.

Katie Price reveals son Harvey Price weighs 30st as she issues hopeful health update
Katie Price has revealed she 'can't wait' to see the effect son Harvey's medication has on him after admitting her eldest child has reached 30stone in weight Katie Price revealed her son Harvey Price has now reached 30stone in weight as she offered an update on her eldest child's health. The mum-of-five, 47, has confirmed he is now taking weight loss jabs in a bid to bring down his weight. She had been growing increasingly concerned about his weight issues. Harvey, 22, has Prader-Willi syndrome. This can give him a constant desire to eat food and a leaves him permanently feeling hungry. Now, she has admitted they have gone to special methods in a bid to combat his urges - and Katie says she can't wait to see the outcome. Speaking on her latest edition of The Katie Price Show podcast, she explained to her sister Sophie that Harvey is starting on the weight loss jab, Mounjaro, once he gets to his new college. She told listeners: "So they (the college) want him to settle there for two weeks at least, so they get to know him. Because they said once they sort of get to know him, you know, when he kicks off all of that. "So they could keep an eye that when he starts the Mounjaro, they would notice if there's a difference in behaviour, this/that, but because he's near me, I'll be more involved this time, because it's so far here, I'll be seeing him all the time. She added: "I'm having visions (about Harvey) that when he starts it, because I'm joining him at the gym, I'm going to get him a boxing trainer, not to be a boxer, but it's good exercise, and I think he'll love it. I'm just so fascinated to know what he's gonna look like." Sister Sophie then asked: "So technically, we're talking what, three weeks until he starts his journey?" However, in response, Katie said: "Well, we've got eight (weeks), and then he can start, but I'm trying to make it quicker, because I want him to start it, and I read all these stories on people. I just can't imagine what he's gonna look like, because I think in his eyes and that he looks like Junior now, like even the clothes I buy him are different. "I can then go on High Street and dress him more trendy, and he'll have more energy. I can't wait to see what he's gonna look like, because we're just used to Big Bear Harvey." Earlier this month, Katie expressed how his new accommodation are used to residents being on the medication. Speaking to her sister at the time, she said: "They've had a few people there, within months, just losing weight because they know how to deal with it. "You know, in a couple of years, Harvey's gonna look different with that place... the Mounjaro, like? And then he gets the proper little life back, because at the moment, where he's so big, he's just out of breath. So, a lot's gonna change for Harv when he moves." Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide. It is an antidiabetic medication that was approved by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) in 2024 for the treatment of obesity on the NHS.
