Diddy trial live updates: Text messages between rapper and Cassie before 'freak offs' read out in court
In one message, the court hears, Ms Ventura told Combs she "just deleted our little vid" off her camera, calling it "dope".
She has previously alleged in court that the rapper used videos off her sexual encounters with male escorts to blackmail.
Jurors now hear about an email sent in 2009, in which Ms Ventura seems to be expressing conflicting feelings about taking part in the freak off sex sessions with escorts.
In the email, she told Combs she needed to trust him "beyond it just being sexual" - that in order to be more open sexually, "I need to feel safe, like home".
She told him "the last time was a mistake but since has made me feel a little dirty, and grimy as opposed to sexual and spontaneous".
This was the reason she was going "back and forth in my mind with wanting and not wanting to do it", she wrote. At first, when they were "so in love... there were no questions asked, it felt right".
She told him: "I get nervous that I'm just becoming the girlfriend that you get your fantasies off with."
Defence lawyer Anna Estevao asks her in court if this was an important part of their relationship.
Ms Ventura says it was "an integral part".
Text messages between Cassie and Diddy before freak offs read in court
Back on the witness stand, Cassie Ventura is being asked about sexually explicit messages exchanged with Sean Combs.
We are not including all the content of these messages here.
"Can't wait," Ms Ventura said in one message, talking about taking part in a freak off, the court hears.
In another message, Combs told her he was "horny" and she replied: "Omg I was just about to text you the same thing."
In one, she told him: "I'm sorry, I'm nervous, I feel like I wanna f***".
In pictures: Diddy's family and Cassie's husband arrive at court
As on every other day of the trial this week, Sean Combs's family are at court to support the rapper.
We've just had these pictures through from news agencies showing his mother Janice Combs, 85, and three of his seven children arriving earlier today outside the court in Manhattan.
Cassie's husband Alex Fine is also back at court today. They married in 2010 and have two children, and Cassie is eight months pregnant with their third.
Graphic message from Cassie to Combs draws objections
Cassie Ventura could be seen whispering to Judge Arun Subramanian before the break was called just an hour into today's hearing, write Adam Reiss and Matt Lavietes, reporting for our US partner NBC.
The sudden break came just as attorneys for Sean Combs were showing the court explicit emails between the former couple, from 2009.
A graphic message from Ms Ventura to Combs drew an objection from prosecutors, which the judge sustained.
The email appears to be an effort on behalf of Combs's lawyers to undermine Ms Ventura's repeated claims that she did not want to participate in the freak offs.
The hearing has now resumed.
And we've also had the first court sketch of the day through, with artist Jane Rosenberg depicting Combs taking notes as Cassie gives evidence.
Break called as 'freak off' messages introduced
Judge Arun Subramanian has called a quick break.
This comes after the discussion turned to messages about the "freak off" sex sessions.
In one, Cassie Ventura told Sean Combs she was "always ready to freak off".
She has told the court that she never wanted to take part in these sex sessions with escorts but did so to please Combs at first, and later because she was scared of the repercussions of not doing so.
Diddy's defence lawyers question Cassie about 'freak offs'
Defence lawyer Anna Estevao asks Cassie Ventura about the "freak off" allegations that have been central to this case.
Ms Ventura, 38, has alleged she endured "hundreds" of sex sessions with escorts, under the influence of drink and drugs, and that these were "directed" by Sean Combs, 55, while they were together.
Ms Estevao asks Ms Ventura why she first agreed to take part, and she tells the court that at that time, she wanted to make Combs happy.
Jurors hear she told Combs, who had six children at the time, that she hoped they would one day have a child together.
The defence lawyer puts it to her that Combs "opened up" her world "tremendously". Ms Ventura responds: "In a different way."
"To make him happy you said you wanted to do freak offs?" Ms Estevao says.
"No, it was a lot more than that," Ms Ventura responds.
Cassie says Diddy relationship was 'fast, scary' - but rapper could be 'sweet' and 'attentive'
The court is now hearing about messages exchanged by Cassie Ventura and Sean "Diddy" Combs during their relationship.
Early on in their 11 years together, they would send "loving" messages, jurors are told.
Combs referred to Ms Ventura as "Babygirl", the court hears, and in one message to her Blackberry from 2009 he says: "I love you so much it makes me cry."
In another email exchange from 2010, Ms Ventura tells him she is going to sleep and that she loves him, and he replies: "I love you so much it consumes my life."
In another message from 2009 she tells him: "I love you so much I can't wait till we don't care anymore."
Asked what she meant by this, she tells the court they were not open about their relationship at this point.
On Tuesday, she told the court Combs was in a relationship with his long-time partner Kim Porter around the time they started dating.
Ms Ventura now tells the court she would travel to see him and that they had long breaks away from each other.
Asked why she wanted to spend so much time with him, she replies: "Because I fell in love with him, he was charismatic, [a] big personality, larger than life."
The beginning of their relationship was "really fast, fast-paced, scary", she says, but the more time she spent with him she saw what she thought was his real personality coming out - "sweet, attentive".
Prosecutors want Cassie questioning to be quick due to her pregnancy
The defence wants to show that Cassie Ventura was a willing participant in her relationship and sexual encounters with Sean Combs, and might have been involved with others.
Before cross-examination proceedings got under way today, defence lawyer Anna Estevao told the judge that a large part of their case would be that there was infidelity on both sides and Combs understood Ms Ventura had other relationships.
Prosecutors said they hope to have Ms Ventura, who is eight months pregnant with her third child, off the stand as soon as possible.
"This witness is very, very pregnant," said lead prosecutor Maurene Comey. "We are afraid she could have the baby over the weekend. We want her off the stand before the weekend."
Cassie tells court she 'knew a version' of Diddy the public didn't
Defence lawyer Anna Estevao points out that Ms Ventura has called the defendant by his first name, Sean, during her time giving evidence so far.
"There were other names like Puff Daddy, Diddy, but you called him Sean," Ms Estevao says. "Yes," is the reply.
Asked if she knew the "real" Sean, and the Sean others didn't see, she again replies "yes" to both questions.
"You knew a version of him the public didn't know?" Ms Estevao says.
"Correct."
The defence lawyer then puts it to Ms Ventura that she knew how special she was to him. This time, she answers "no".
Ms Ventura, who is wearing a light coloured blouse and a coat in court today, agrees that it hurt when Combs lied to her and cheated on her.
Asked if she put up with this for 11 years, she says she didn't for the entire time - but tells the court that, yes, she kept going back to him.
She says she spent a lot of time feeling hurt in the early stages of their relationship and that she fell in love with him quickly.
Cassie returns to the stand
Court is now in session and singer Cassie Ventura, the prosecution's key witness, is back on the stand once again.
Anna Estevao is the defence lawyer asking questions for the defence.
She starts by asking Ms Ventura about her relationship with Sean Combs, which was on and off for about 11 years until 2018.
Ms Estevao asks if she and Combs were in love, to which Ms Ventura replies: "Yes."

Trump says he was NEVER briefed by Pam Bondi on his name being in Epstein files
President Donald Trump on Friday denied ever being briefed by Attorney General Pam Bondi that his name was in the Jeffrey Epstein files. 'No, I was never briefed. No,' he told reporters after he landed in Scotland to visit his golf courses. But Bondi briefed Trump during a May 2025 meeting that his name was found in the Epstein documents 'multiple times,' according to reports. Other high-profile individuals are also named. Just because the president is named in the files does not implicate him in any wrongdoing or connect him to Epstein's child sex trafficking crimes. Administration officials told the Wall Street Journal that Bondi's May meeting with Trump was a routine briefing covering a number of topics - and the Epstein files weren't the focus. White House communications director Steven Cheung slammed the Journal's report as 'fake news' in a statement to the Daily Mail. 'The fact is that the President kicked him out of his club for being a creep. This is nothing more than a continuation of the fake news stories concocted by the Democrats and the liberal media, just like the Obama Russiagate scandal, which President Trump was right about,' he said when the report came out earlier this week.

Truth behind Travis Kelce's lock screen photo of Taylor Swift revealed after couple sparked engagement rumors
Taylor Swift is not showing off an engagement ring in the photo spotted on Travis Kelce 's lock screen, it has been confirmed. According to TMZ, the pop megastar is actually wearing Kelce's three Super Bowl rings in the loved-up snap he saved as his phone background, which eagle-eyed fans noticed in his Instagram dump on Thursday. Almost two years into their relationship the Kansas City Chiefs legend has finally gone Instagram official with Swift after sharing a series of pictures of their 'offseason adventures' together. In one of the images, Kelce's phone can be seen on the table while the couple are seemingly out for dinner together. Swifties quickly noticed that his lock screen was a black-and-white photo of him and Taylor, where she is holding both of her hands up to the camera while seemingly flaunting a ring. Engagement rumors therefore became rife once again, but it is believed Travis has not yet popped the question to his girlfriend. Instead, Taylor reportedly has his three championship rings on her fingers in the lock-screen picture. More to follow.

Taylor Swift's subtle tribute to Travis Kelce after he hard-launched romance and caused fan meltdown
Taylor Swift has broken her silence after her boyfriend of nearly two years Travis Kelce finally went Instagram official with her. Swifties the world over went into instant meltdown Thursday when Travis, 35, posted Instagram pictures with Taylor, 35, for the first time. Fans began forensically dissecting the images, making note of details like the lock screen of Travis' phone, which is now a snap of him with Taylor. Some breathless rumor-mongers even shared theories that they might be engaged, based on two different white outfits Taylor was pictured wearing. As the frenzy kept gathering steam into Friday, Taylor poured fuel on the fire by paying a subtle tribute to the NFL star on her Insta Stories. She uploaded a post enthusiastically plugging the new Adam Sandler movie Happy Gilmore 2, which contains a shirtless cameo by Travis. 'Happy Gilmore 2 had me cackling and cheering the whole movie!' she gushed. 'An absolute must watch, 13/10, go watch it on @netflix as soon as humanly possible.' She added a honey emoji, making a sly reference to a scene near the end of the movie in which Travis is slathered with the condiment while half-naked. Travis briefly appears in the movie as a high-strung maître d' who works with one of the main characters, a busboy called Oscar played by Bad Bunny. At one point Travis' character throws a temper tantrum and fires Oscar, who becomes the caddy to pro golfer Happy Gilmore (Adam Sandler). Near the end of the movie, Happy asks Oscar to picture his 'happy place' - and Oscar summons up an image of his Travis' character, tied up and wearing nothing but an apron with honey smeared all over him and a hungry bear approaching. One day before Taylor's post, Travis shared a number of loved-up photos with her on Thursday as part of an 'offseason adventures' Instagram dump, which marks the first time he has ever posted his girlfriend. The celebrity power couple, who have dominated headlines since they went public with their relationship in September 2023, look smitten in a number of snaps captured on nights out together. Travis and Taylor are first seen posing together in a warm setting, with other pictures showing them out for dinner, clowning around in the snow and skating on an ice rink. They also took photos with different groups of friends, one of which includes NFL reporters Charissa Thompson and Erin Andrews and their respective partners. Travis' older brother Jason, mom Donna and dad Ed also feature in the Instagram dump, as does Taylor's younger brother Austin. Travis and Jason are spotted in one of the images in a woodland setting with Austin, who appears to be holding a tree pruner. Nevertheless, Kelce's offseason dump has mainly sparked a frenzy online because of the intimate snaps he shared of Swift. The pop megastar's diehard legion of 'Swiftie' fans rushed to the comments to gush over the photos, with one writing: 'Their happiness is my happiness'. Another posted: 'SHE LOOKS SOOO HAPPY OMG'. While a third put: 'thank you for this - sincerely, all swifites'. Some eagle-eyed Swifties also pointed out how one of the photos shows that Swift features on the lock screen of her boyfriend's phone. One commented: 'why is nobody talking about how she's his lock screen!!!' 'The locked screen pic of Taylor and Trav....I just fainted,' said another. And a third joked: 'Not me zooming in on the phone screensaver.' Travis and Taylor are also seen enjoying a glass of wine with another group in a different photo Kelce and Swift have enjoyed a more low-key offseason together than last year, with the pair only making a handful of public appearances since the Chiefs' Super Bowl defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles in February. The most noteworthy of the lot came when Taylor made a surprise cameo at her man's 'Tight End University' event in Nashville last month, where she took to the stage and performed her famous 'Shake It Off' song. On a subsequent edition of his New Heights podcast, Travis explained that they had been cooking up a plan to 'have some fun' for some time. But his older brother Jason was among those who were shocked when footage emerged of the pop sensation on stage. 'Tay Tay showed up!' Travis said. 'We were in Nashville, she grew up in Nashville - she moved there when she was younger - and we had this planned for a while that we were going to have some fun with the tight ends. He continued: 'I won't say when the idea came up but we were there at "Tight End & Friends" and we knew that there was a professional like Kane Brown, who could just figure it out. 'He's a pro, he's been on stage a million times, he's not shy at all by any means... Tay just went up to him and the band and was like: "Hey if you guys are down, I'll go up there, play a song and see if we can pop the roof off this place." And sure enough...' Travis revealed that before going out to perform, Swift was backstage writing sheets of music for the band. 'I don't know, I'm not a musician but she was making sure that the band and everybody (knew it). And then just went out there without practicing and it was pitch perfect and just killed it,' Travis continued. 'She's so good with everybody and making people feel comfortable. And absolutely rocked the stage yet again, it was awesome, man.' Kelce was back on the practice field on Tuesday as the Chiefs began their preparations for the new NFL season. From Tuesday until August 13, the team will be based at Missouri Western State University in St Joseph - around an hour north Arrowhead Stadium. There, Kelce and the other 89 players on the roster will stay in dorms on campus for the duration of camp. That means three weeks without seeing their partners and families. For Kelce, that means three weeks without seeing Swift.
