Mouni Roy has now begun the shooting for her new project, The Wives. Directed by the acclaimed filmmaker, Madhur Bhandakar, the film will explore the untold stories behind the lives of Bollywood's star wives. On Wednesday, the actress took to social media and expressed her excitement for collaborating with the four-time National Film Award-winning director.
Taking to Instagram, Mouni shared a behind-the-scenes picture from the Muhurat of The Wives. In the snapshot, she is seen posing with the director and holding the film's clapboard. She wrote in the caption, 'Day 1 on this new film I'm truly excited about, grateful to be creating with the maestro himself Madhur Bhandarkar. Thrilled for the journey ahead #TheWives."

As for the look, the Brahmastra actress is dressed in a black sequined gown, while Madhur wore a yellow jacket paired with black jeans and white sneakers.

Talking about the film, Bhandarkar said in a media statement, 'With The Wives, I want to peel back yet another glamorous layer of society and show what truly lurks beneath. This film will take a strong, unapologetic look at the secrets, challenges, and strengths of women who are frequently seen but rarely heard."
Notably, the film also marks Bhandarkar's second collaboration with producer Pranav Jain of PJ Motion Pictures, following the success of their earlier film India Lockdown, which tackled the emotional toll of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The official release date of The Wives is yet to be announced by the makers.
Besides this, Mouni will also be seen in the rom-com, Hai Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, along with Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde. Directed by David Dhawan, it will be released in April next year.
