AnkleTap says he knew deep down he'd return to the Gauteng airwaves as he joins Jacaranda FM
Following his departure from YFM in 2023, radio personality DJ Ankletap joined YOU FM which mainly broadcasts in the North West.
'After 12 incredible years at YFM, I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and challenge myself in a new environment, which is what led me to the North West and YOU FM,' Ankletap tells The Citizen.

Ankletap's return to Gauteng
After nearly two years of growth and learning at YOU FM, Ankletap – real name Bryce Clark – has joined Jacaranda FM, marking a return to the Gauteng airwaves.
However, he says this wasn't a plan that he'd been mulling over.
'Not exactly planned in the traditional sense, but I always knew deep down that I'd return to the Gauteng airwaves one day – when the right opportunity came along,' the broadcaster shared.
'But when Jacaranda FM called, I knew this was the station that matched my energy, values, and vision for the next level of my career.'
From this Friday, Ankletap will host Party Nights With Ankletap every Friday evening from 7pm to 10pm.
He says listeners should expect a mix of the hottest music, honest talk, stories that will have them in stitches, and a whole lot of energy.
'I'm bringing that signature Ankletap humor, flavour and feel-good Friday magic. It's not just a show – it's the start of your weekend party.'

The difference in audiences
Ankletap boasts more than 15 years in broadcasting and a loyal fanbase across the country; he is a significant fixture in the South African radio scene.
'Every audience has its own rhythm and flavour,' Ankletap says, referring to the disparities in the Gauteng and North West audiences.
'The North West audience is incredibly warm and loyal – they love storytelling, they engage deeply, and they're proud of their identity. Gauteng, on the other hand, is high-paced, fast-moving, and plugged into pop culture 24/7.
'But the beauty of it is I love both. That said, Jacaranda FM broadcasts to Mpumalanga, the North West and Limpopo. I've learned to connect in a way that feels personal, regardless of region.'

Ankletap's passion for great radio
Ankletap says one has to bring their 'A-game every time' because the listeners are diverse, sharp, and always ready to be entertained.
Party Nights With Ankletap is different from the morning breakfast slot he held at YFM and at YOU FM. But he says 'radio is radio' despite the slot one is in.
'I've done everything from graveyard shifts to midday shows to prime-time breakfast, and of course, I've rocked party shows before too. For me, it's not about the time slot – it's about the connection,' the DJ says.
'My passion is making great radio. Each slot has its own energy and challenges, but at the end of the day, my job is to make people feel something. And Friday nights? That's a vibe I live for.'

Next Stay Close ✕ Kandan said her family had attended the Shree Veeraboga Emperumal Temple since she was a baby, and that her faith was unwavering. 'As a baby, my grandmother used to take me to the temple for prayers and various festivals. This is when my love for religion and culture began. Later, my guru actively involved me in prayer. This included preparing and performing prayers," said Kandan. She said she was also part of the temple's Sunday school and this was where her love for music and dance started. "Tradition and culture are essential because they provide a sense of identity, belonging, and continuity. While growing up in a South Indian family, I have been influenced by our rich cultural heritage. Our traditions, such as celebrating Pongal and Tamil New Year, have taught me the importance of community, respect for elders, and gratitude for nature's bounty. "The Tamil culture's emphasis on language, literature, and art has also shaped my perspective and appreciation for the world. The works of great Tamil poets and philosophers, like Thiruvalluvar and Bharathi, have inspired me to embrace values like compassion, justice, and self-discipline. 'For me, tradition and culture are not just about rituals or customs. They are about the values, stories, and experiences that have been passed down through generations. They remind me of my roots and help me stay connected to my community. By embracing and honouring my Tamil heritage, I feel a sense of pride, purpose, and responsibility to carry forward these traditions in a way that respects the past while embracing the present.' Kandan said it was an honour to be part of the cultural programme, which entailed visiting temples and ancestral villages and attending music and dance festivals. "I hope to gain as much knowledge as possible to impart to others when I return. There is a lot one can gain from such a program such as understanding the history and traditions from the villages and developing a further sense of understanding of Tamil culture. 'By learning about their cultural and religious heritage, younger generations can gain a deeper understanding of their roots, traditions, and community. This knowledge helps them develop a sense of pride, self-awareness, and appreciation for the diversity that makes our world richer. 'Moreover, these values often emphasise the importance of community, family, and social harmony, which are vital for creating a more compassionate and inclusive society. By teaching these values to the younger generation, we can empower them to become thoughtful, engaged, and active citizens who are equipped to make a positive impact in the world.' She said by taking small steps to learn about and celebrate one's heritage, one could unlock a more authentic and fulfilling life. The POST

Female fans crush on single Siya Kolisi after Rachel's crying post
Siya Kolisi has attracted a flurry of attention from female admirers after the Springboks returned to his hometown of Gqeberha. The captain of the South African rugby team is newly single after splitting from his former wife, Rachel Kolisi, last October. Although the Springbok captain sat out the game against Italy over an injury 'niggle', Siya Kolisi kept himself busy in the lead up to the game by spending time with friends and family in his hometown of Gqeberha. On matchday, Siya brought out the Webb Ellis trophy for the crowd gathered at the Nelson Mandela Stadium. In pictures posted on the Springboks' social media account, Siya was seen getting a lot of love from his hometown fans, including his female ones. One image saw a fan hold up a handwritten poster that read: 'Hey Siya, I only came to C ya. #crush'. In the image were several beautiful ladies who smiled in a selfie taken by him. Meanwhile, Siya Kolisi's TikTok video of him happily dancing in public has attracted mixed views after his former wife, Rachel Kolisi, posted her own video of her crying amid an anxiety attack. Rachel shared an emotional post about going through a divorce and the difficulties in co-parenting. At several points, the former Springbok WAG burst into tears. @siyakolisi There's no place like home 🕺🏾 I love being in GQ! #southafrica #gqeberha ♬ iWalk Ye Phara (feat. Will Andile Mpisane play for mom's new soccer club?
Andile Mpisane has fueled rumours he may advance his soccer career at eSwatini club, Mbalane Highlanders, which his mother, MaMkhize – real name Shauwn Mkhize – was recently named president of. The move comes months after the businesswoman's South African club, Royal AM, was expelled from the PSL amid her R40 million SARS tax evasion scandal. Although the club has adopted many elements of Royal AM, MaMkhize does not own the Swati counterpart. Over the weekend, MaMkhize confirmed that she was the new president of Mbalane Highlanders FC, which had been rebranded Mbalande Highlanders AM FC. The inclusion of the word 'AM' – Andilie Mpisane's initials – fuelled rumours that her son may be more than just a supporter of the football club. Andile and his wife Tamia accompanied MaMkhize to the club's announcement, with the former even cutting the ribbon to the 'new and improved' team. Andile Mpisane stoked the flames by reposting a clip of the announcement on his Instagram Story with his football catchphrase 'Expensive 10'. The number 10 was Andile's football jersey number at Royal AM, where he was both a player and a chairman. Rumours that Andile Mpisane may have a starring role in Mbalane Highlanders AM FC, possibly thanks to his mother, comes as no surprise. In 2023, MaMkhize defended her 'talented' son's soccer abilities. Speaking to Andile Ncube on his Metro FM show, Sports Night Amplified, the businesswoman insinuated that her luxury car-collecting son deserved a spot on the squad. Will former Royal AM chairman and player Andile Mpisane make a football comeback? Images via Instagram: @andilempisane10 MaMkhize also revealed that Andile had played for Amazulu during his development stage. She said: 'He wouldn't have entered AmaZulu if he didnt have talent. They only look for talent. 'He would have grown. Maybe he would have been an AmaZulu player'. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1 .
