Foundation stone for new bus station in Khammam
The bus station will be built at an estimated cost of ₹10 crore. Spread over two acres and 24 guntas, the new facility is set to have 10 platforms, passenger amenities, including waiting halls, and toilets. Efforts will be made to boost multi-modal connectivity with the bus station scheduled to be linked to the railway station.

These operate a combined fleet of 548 buses daily, that include Lahari, Rajadhani, Super Luxury, Deluxe, Mahalakshmi Express, and Pallevelugu services. Apart from these, there are some private hire buses. Together, these buses cover over 2.62 lakh kilometres each day and ferry around 2.1 lakh passengers.
Madhira depot was established in 1987, and currently runs 70 buses with 218 staff. Around 29,430 kilometres are covered daily from this depot catering to the travel needs of over 20,000 passengers.

'At high altitudes, the sunlight is much stronger and can be very harsh on the eyes. The large windows in the cockpit let in a lot of light, and this can create glare, especially when it reflects off clouds or the surface of the Earth. Aviator sunglasses have big, curved lenses that cover the eyes well and block light from the sides too,' said Sanjay Jadhav, optician, founder of Optic Nest, Bengaluru. Most aviator lenses also offer UV protection. 'UV rays from the sun can harm the eyes over time, so wearing sunglasses helps keep vision clear and healthy. This helps pilots see more clearly and reduces eye strain during long hours of flying,' said Jadhav. While social media often stresses that some aviators have polarised lenses, which reduce glare from reflective surfaces like clouds, water, or other aircraft, Capt Anil Rao, General Secretary, ALPA India, said polaroid glasses are not allowed for pilots as they can distort LCD/LED displays. He explained, 'The teardrop shape of the glass and thin metal frame is to cover the entire eye so UV rays don't enter from the corners. The original colour of the glass was green to filter the blue light and reduce glare, which were called the G-15 lenses.' Notably, aviators are also lightweight and comfortable, essential for pilots who wear them for many hours. 'The thin metal frame fits well with headsets and helmets used in the cockpit. So, pilots wear aviators not just for style, but because they protect the eyes from bright light, UV rays, and make it easier and safer to fly,' said Jadhav.

TGSRTC embraces digital future for enhanced convenience to public
Hyderabad: Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar emphasised that the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) is advancing towards delivering enhanced and high-quality services to the public by embracing modern technology. The Minister highlighted that RTC personnel are now offering quicker services with the implementation of the Automatic Fare Collection System (AFCS) in Hyderabad. On Monday, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar conducted an inspection of the Musheerabad depot alongside TGSRTC MD, VC Sajjanar. He took the time to personally review the execution of the Intelligent Transport Management System (ITMS) and digital payment systems as part of the AFCS initiative. The conductors demonstrated to him the simplicity and efficiency of this system at the operational level. The Minister stressed that the TGSRTC is introducing innovative reforms that are unmatched anywhere else in India. He highlighted that the Mahalaxmi free travel initiative for women, proudly launched by the state government, is significantly benefiting the RTC financially. 'The RTC has issued 191 crore zero tickets to date, resulting in a remarkable saving of Rs 6,300 crore for women,' he stated. Ponnam Prabhakar expressed his satisfaction regarding the implementation of the AFCS in RTC buses across Hyderabad. 'For the past three months, the RTC has been successfully implementing AFCS in its buses. On average, 20 per cent of passengers are utilising this service daily. The RTC plans to extend this system to all buses soon,' said Ponnam Prabhakar. The Minister also announced plans to extend RTC services to new residential colonies within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) to improve last-mile connectivity. New bus routes will be introduced to make public transport more accessible and commuter-friendly.
