CBS Sports ranks Florida football RB Jadan Baugh among top SEC feature backs
Florida football running back Jadan Baugh has been ranked by CBS Sports as the sixth-best feature back in the SEC heading into the 2025 season.
Baugh, going into his sophomore season, brings rare size and power to the running back position. His late-season surge was one of the biggest storylines in a season that saw Florida rebound from a slow start to finish strong.
With the departure of veteran backs like Montrell Johnson Jr., Baugh is expected to be the centerpiece of the Gators' ground game.
Last season, Baugh earned Freshman All-SEC honors after leading the team in rushing yards (673) and total touchdowns (8) while averaging 5.1 yards per carry.
In his first start, Baugh rushed for five touchdowns against the Kentucky Wildcats, tying the Florida football program record with Trey Burton (2010) and Tim Tebow (2007).
Being ranked as the No. 6 lead back in the SEC is not bad, and it's another sign that Billy Napier's backfield is in good hands. If Baugh continues to trend upward, he could be one of the most productive running backs in the SEC. Perhaps even a potential breakout star on the national stage.
Here is everything CBS Sports writer Shehan Jeyarajah said about Baugh.
What CBS Sports said about Jadan Baugh
"Baugh took a while to take over the starting job. When he did, it helped change Florida's season. Baugh rushed for 520 yards and seven touchdowns in his final seven games after taking over as the Gators' feature back, including 106 yards against Kentucky. He helped key upsets over Ole Miss and LSU, posting 71 all-purpose yards against the Rebels. At 6-foot-1 and 227 pounds, Baugh boasts a massive frame for his age."

Texas A&M Baseball achieves dual draft Milestones after 2025 MLB picks

If there's one thing Texas A&M is committed to, it's developing players for Major League Baseball, and they've become one of the top programs in the country for doing so. While the ultimate goal of college sports is to win championships, another priority is preparing athletes for professional leagues. Although the Aggie baseball team has yet to stand atop the mountain, they boasts impressive stats when it comes to sending talent to the next level. Following the 2025 MLB Draft, A&M reached two major milestones. First is what has become commonplace in Aggieland: a streak of having at least two players drafted in every MLB draft since 1984. That's the longest active streak in the nation, now at an astonishing 40 years. Second, they stand alone as the only program in the country to have three or more players selected in every MLB draft since 2001. With players like Caden Sorrell, Gavin Grahovac, and Shane Sdao eligible next season, it's safe to expect both streaks will continue, regardless of the outcome for the 2026 Aggie baseball team. Former Spartan Jaden Akins impresses during NBA Summer League game on Wednesday

Former Michigan State Spartans guard Jaden Akins had his best performance of the NBA Summer League on Wednesday. Akins appeared in his third NBA Summer League game on Wednesday, dropping his best performance with Spartans head coach Tom Izzo in the house. Akins scored nine points, grabbed three rebounds and dished out one assist in the Orlando Magic's loss against the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday. Akins was signed by the Magic to their NBA Summer League team, giving him an opportunity to earn a spot in the organization (most likely on their G League team). He went unselected in last month's NBA Draft after a successful four year career at Michigan State. Akins will have one more opportunity to impress the Magic in a consolation game against the Dallas Mavericks on Friday. That game is scheduled to tip off at 4 p.m. ET and will be televised on NBA TV. Robert Spears-Jennings has full faith in Brent Venables, excited about Oklahoma offense

Oklahoma Sooners safety Robert Spears-Jennings was one of three players chosen to represent OU at SEC Media Days on Wednesday. Spears-Jennings enters his fourth year in the program, following a very good 2024 season, his first year as a starter. Spears-Jennings will be one of the biggest names on OU's defense this year. The Sooners have to replace a lot of veteran leadership and production on that side of the ball, but Spears-Jennings thinks he and the other returners are ready to take the reins. "Coach (Brent) Venables, Coach (Brandon) Hall, Coach (Jerry) Schmidt, they've all advised me to be more vocal," Spears-Jennings said. "This summer, this spring and this winter, I've tried my hardest, done my best at being a more vocal leader and just leading by example. Me and a couple of other guys have been doing that job very well." Spears-Jennings also spoke glowingly of Brent Venables, as the fourth-year head coach takes over defensive play-calling duties in 2025 after Zac Alley's departure. The OU defensive back says he knows Venables will be great. "Coach V is one of the greatest defensive coaches ever," Spears-Jennings said. "I have all faith and trust in him because he's going to confuse a lot of offensive coordinators and quarterbacks because you never know what you're going to get from him, never know what you're going to run that week. That's what I love about Coach Venables, one week we might be in a whole different game-scheme, formations. Then the next week, you can't really watch our last week's game because we're probably not going to even come out in that formation or the fronts at all ... I feel like we've communicated way better this year because we were taught a quiet defense is a dead defense. So this year we're emphasizing on communication on defense a lot." But it's not just the defense that has Spears-Jennings excited. The veteran believes the Sooners will be much better offensively this year as well. He spoke about what this year's offense brings to the table in practice. "It's definitely more challenging because they bring energy," Spears-Jennings said. "I feel like with (Ben) Arbuckle and John (Mateer), they brung a different type of swag with them. They bring, I feel like our whole offense has embodied their swag and their energy because once they score a touchdown, their whole side is over there running, celebrating with the guys, and that's what you need, you need energy. I feel like these guys here love playing football." Spears-Jennings quietly had a big year in the secondary for Oklahoma a season ago. If he can continue to develop into a game-wrecker for opposing offensive coordinators, it makes the Sooner defense that much harder to tangle with in 2025.
