As others exit Union Square, Bulgari opens new flagship in historic S.F. building

Bulgari, the Italian luxury jeweler and accessory house, has opened its new San Francisco flagship in the historic 1908 Hastings Building at the corner of Grant Avenue and Post Street, deepening its commitment to Union Square even as other high-end retailers exit the city's once-bustling shopping district.
The 3,500-square-foot boutique at 206 Grant Avenue replaces Bulgari's previous location on Stockton Street and showcases the brand's signature blend of Roman-inspired architecture and contemporary luxury.
The space includes two salons for private client experiences, a custom chandelier featuring 300 crystal wands by Italian glassmaker Venini, and a decorative panel by Milan-based studio Pictalab that merges the skylines of Rome and San Francisco.
'We're proud to bring a unique blend of artistry, tradition and modern energy to the heart of this iconic city,' said Hervé Perrot, Bulgari's North America president, in a statement to Women's Wear Daily. 'San Francisco, with its rich history, vibrant culture, and global spirit, is the perfect place for us.'
Founded in Rome in 1884 and now part of the LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton portfolio, Bulgari will offer its signature collections of fine jewelry, watches and handbags at the new location.
Oakland-born actress Zendaya is an ambassador for the brand.
Originally expected to open in fall 2025, the boutique now anchors a luxury corridor that includes Dior, Cartier and Harry Winston. The space was formerly occupied by The North Face, which vacated in early 2024 at the landlord's request.
Grosvenor, the property's owner, revealed at the time that it had been in negotiations with Bulgari for over a year before the lease was finalized. It invested millions to reconfigure the space ahead of Bulgari's move, to cater to the brand's 'unique needs'
'Grosvenor was intentional in their selection of an iconic, long-term partner for one of the most productive and elevated retail intersections on the West Coast,' said CBRE's Laura Barr, who brokered the deal, in a statement. 'This will serve as a capstone not only for Grant Avenue but another win for the Post Street corridor which continues to strengthen.'

Shuttered Albany restaurant popular with NY elite, politicians to reopen as members-only social club

An Albany restaurant that used to feature a clientele list teeming with some of the most powerful politicians in New York is set to reopen as a private members' dining club in late 2025. The La Serre restaurant closed in 2020 after it was unable to bounce back from the COVID-19 lockdown, with much of its business at the time relying on large gatherings like banquets and receptions, founder Anne Trimble told the Times Union. The French-based restaurant originally opened in 1977 and quickly became a favorite among New York's political elite on both sides of the aisle during its run, including former Govs. Hugh Carey, Mario Cuomo, George Pataki and Andrew Cuomo. Albany Times Union via Getty Ima Now, Mayor Eric Adams' spokesman Todd Shapiro is looking to revamp the historic mainstay alongside Greg Caggiano and Todd Miller of the law firm Miller & Caggiano. 'This is going to be the most important political and social venue north of Manhattan. We're bringing back the old-school power — but with a modern twist: young, trendsetting, high-end, and unapologetically political,' Shapiro said. Advertisement Their vision centers around elevating the old restaurant's history by making it a hotspot for 'high-level networking, private events, and political strategy' while filling the space of a much-needed 'contemporary social anchor,' according to a press release. They plan to make it highly selective, primarily limiting membership to public leaders, media influencers, creatives and civic entrepreneurs, according to the release. La Serre closed in 2020 after it was unable to recover from the COVID-19 lockdown. Advertisement The new and improved La Serre will include a rooftop terrace and renovated interior, likely shifting away from the upscale, green leather-laden atmosphere of the old restaurant and gravitating towards something more 'clubby,' per the release. Trimble founded the restaurant alongside her late husband, Geoffrey, who passed away in 2005. She managed the restaurant with her son, John, up through its closure, the Times Union reported.

'Synonymous With Texas Sales': Texas Horseman Al Pike Passes

'Synonymous With Texas Sales': Texas Horseman Al Pike Passes originally appeared on Paulick Report. Al Pike, a veteran horseman who was a perennial leading 2-year-old consignor in Texas and on the national scene, passed away on July 26 at the age of 70 after a valiant battle with cancer. Pike, along with his wife of nearly 45 years, Salley, and their son, Colt, operated Pike Racing. Pike is also survived by daughter Chelsey Pike Hooton. Pike got his start in the horse industry in the 1970s as a Quarter Horse trainer in Texas, and then he and Salley transitioned to Thoroughbreds and eventually focused on pinhooking. The Pike family enjoyed considerable success at sales in Texas and around the country. In the Lone Star State, Pike Racing sold the $300,000 sale topper at the 2023 Texas 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale. That price set a record for the TTA sale. Originally a $60,000 yearling purchase, the filly by Tapwrit who would later be named Blue Squall has earned $338,703 and is still in training. Pike Racing again had the sale topper at the 2024 Texas juvenile sale with a Texas-bred colt by Street Boss who sold for $265,000. That was part of the Pike Racing at Highlander consignment. Pike retired from working with Texas-based Highlander Training Center earlier this year. Pike Racing was active at many other sales in the Southwest and around the country. On the national scene, Pike Racing had three juvenile sale horses make it to the Kentucky Derby (G1), including millionaires Vyjack and Vicar's in Trouble. Other notable sale horses included Modest Maven, an $80,000 yearling who sold for $1 million as a 2-year-old, and Shazz, a $185,000 yearling who brought $1.1 million the following year. The Texas Thoroughbred Association and TTA Sales extends its condolences to the Pike family and all of Al Pike's many friends in the industry. 'Al Pike was synonymous with Texas sales,' said Foster Bridewell, sales director for TTA Sales. 'Everyone knew and respected Al, and together with Salley and Colt they were a vital part of the sale scene here. We are going to miss Al dearly and plan to honor his memory at our next auction.' KKR Forms A$500 Million Strategic Partnership with CleanPeak Energy to Launch New Distributed Energy Platform

SYDNEY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Global investment firm KKR today announced the signing of definitive agreements under which funds managed by KKR will commit A$500 million to strategically partner with CleanPeak Energy ('CleanPeak') to rapidly grow its distributed energy platform. KKR's investment will support CleanPeak in growing and developing a pipeline of distributed solar, battery storage and micro‑grid solutions for Australia's commercial and industrial ('C&I') sector. Co-founded by Philip Graham and Jon Hare in 2017, CleanPeak is a leading provider of fully financed, integrated solar‑and‑storage systems for blue‑chip corporates across Australia. The company operates over 50 distributed generation sites across Australia including over 140MW of Solar Assets and 35MWH of Battery Energy Storage System ('BESS') projects, and is currently delivering over $200m of construction projects in the sector. 'By combining CleanPeak's proven operating platform with KKR's global network, operational expertise, and deep experience across our energy and infrastructure teams, we are well positioned to unlock significant opportunities for corporate customers looking to decarbonise and reduce their energy bills.' CleanPeak Chief Executive Philip Graham welcomed the strategic partnership, 'KKR is a perfect strategic partner for us as we seek to rapidly expand renewable energy solutions for our customers. They bring deep energy transition expertise, financial strength and a partnership mindset that will allow CleanPeak to continue to offer net zero solutions at the same time as accelerating our growth plans through bolt‑on acquisitions. Together, we will deliver reliable, lower‑carbon energy for corporate Australia.' 'CleanPeak's distributed energy approach reduces network costs which make up a significant portion of the all-in cost of retail electricity and results in more competitive power prices for our customers,' said Jon Hare, CleanPeak's Chief Operating Officer. KKR is making this investment from its Global Climate Transition strategy. This investment marks the strategy's first in Asia-Pacific and its sixth transaction globally, underscoring KKR's conviction in the energy‑transition opportunity set.
