EXCLUSIVE Gavin & Stacey star Mathew Horne cuts a low-key figure as he joins rarely seen wife Celina Bassili at Glastonbury - after it was revealed they'd secretly welcomed a son
He turned his back on the limelight after falling out with Gavin & Stacey co-star James Corden. And even during his visit to Glastonbury, actor Mathew Horne tried to go under the radar. But fans spotted the star, who plays Gavin Shipman in the popular comedy, as he had breakfast with his wife Celina Bassili on Saturday morning. Dressed in a black sweatshirt, shorts and a matching baseball cap, he and Celina were overheard discussing what bands they were going to see. One onlooker told MailOnline: 'Mat has grown his hair so he was almost unrecognisable but then you hear his voice and there was no doubt it was him. 'For his level of fame there was no fanfare at all, not like some of the other big stars. He was sitting quietly with his wife taking in the sunshine. 'It was only a few months ago since he was the star of the Gavin and Stacey Christmas special which was watched by 18 million people. 'lt was so refreshing to see.' Celina posted a series of photos and videos on her Instagram site after she and Mat, 46, arrived at Worthy Farm, including a sweet snap of the pair together. Mat previously attended Glastonbury in 2009. Mat and Celina married in a secret wedding held at a 1930s mansion in the bride's native Norway in 2021 after they began dating in 2019. The actor is said to have welcomed the child with set designer Bassili shortly after their wedding in September 2021. Mat was previously engaged to Evelyn Hoskins, star of BBC medical drama Casualty. Mat and Corden fell out in the late noughties following the success of BBC One comedy. While Corden went on to be a star of Broadway and the West End after his appearance in theatre show One Man, Two Guv'nors, and latterly Hollywood where he hosted The Late Late Show on US network CBS, Mat lived a much quieter life. Mat plays Gavin, the son of Pam and Mick Shipman in Gavin and Stacey, which hit our screens in 2007. Close friends, among them Gavin & Stacey co-stars James Corden and Joanna Page, are understood to be aware of the birth - which was not made public by the couple at the time. A source told The Sun: 'Mathew is a brilliant dad and he and Celina love being parents. 'Celina's brother has a son who is a similar age and they loved spending time together. 'Mathew also kept the news quiet because he prefers to live his life out of the spotlight, even though he's a household name thanks to Gavin & Stacey. 'All his Gavin & Stacey co-stars know about him being a dad, including James Corden and Joanna Page'. The actor was first seen kissing the set designer during a night out in Wales two years earlier, while they were busy filming the last Gavin & Stacey Christmas special. Bassili, who graduated from University Of Arts London with a first class degree in set design, lists the Gavin & Stacey special on her online CV. With the kiss, he appeared to confirm his relationship was over with Casualty actress Evelyn Hoskins, who he proposed to in October. A spokesperson later told MailOnline: 'Mathew and Evelyn separated amicably in October 2018.'

(Image: (Image: GETTY) ) If you were one of the unlucky Oasis fans who didn't manage to get tickets for their Live '25 reunion tour taking place in the Principality Stadium next week, fear not as another Oas-ish event is coming to Cardiff next year. A new comedy based on the Britpop music charts in the summer of 1995, will embark on a major UK tour in 2026. The Battle, will be coming to the Wales Millennium Centre (WMC) in Cardiff Bay next spring. It was announced earlier today by the WMC that it will also feature an icon from Welsh TV. There will be evening show options as well as matinees starting at 2.30pm. Tickets are available now for the new comedy play about the battle that rocked the nation, which is apparently mostly based on real events. Set in London during the 90s, the story surrounds two of the country's biggest bands, Blur and Oasis and how they released new singles on the same day, "commencing the battle of Britpop." They've said: "On one side, clean-cut, art-school intellectuals from the South. On the other: raw and unapologetic lads from the North. Rivalries flare, friendships fracture and at the centre of it all a mania that would define an era – were you Blur or Oasis?" The show will outline the chaos of the Brit Awards to the infamous chart war, and has been described as "a wickedly funny dive into one of the greatest rivalries in rock history." It is the first stage play by best-selling Scottish novelist John Niven, and will be lead by the director behind 2:22 A Ghost Story, Matthew Dunster. They say that audiences have to "expect filthy language and razor-sharp dialogue in this cut-throat new comedy that puts you right at the heart of the feuding, the fame, and the fallout." The Battle will start it's tour at Birmingham Rep on 11 February 2026, before visiting theatres across the UK. It includes stops at Leicester, Manchester, Bromley, Woking, Cheltenham, Edinburgh, Sheffield, Ipswich, London Glasgow York, Norwich, Nottingham, Milton Keynes, Newcastle, Brighton, Chester and of course Cardiff.
