Interior minister opens Mujahideen's new Hajj Command HQ in Muzdalifah
MAKKAH — Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Supreme Hajj Committee Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif inaugurated on Sunday the General Command Headquarters for Hajj and Umrah missions, affiliated with the General Administration of Mujahideen, in Muzdalifah.
During the inauguration, Prince Abdulaziz watched a presentation on the new facility, which has been equipped with the latest technical and security standards. These enhancements will enable the personnel and field teams of the General Administration of Mujahideen to serve pilgrims with the highest levels of efficiency and professionalism.
The minister visited on Saturday the General Transport Center of the Royal Commission for Makkah City and the Holy Sites in Arafat. He was received by Minister of Transport and Logistic Services and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Transport General Authority (TGA) Saleh Al-Jasser; Deputy Minister of Transport and Logistics and TGA Acting President Dr. Rumaih Al-Rumaih; and CEO of the Royal Commission for Makkah City and the Holy Sites Eng. Saleh Al-Rasheed.
During the visit, Prince Abdulaziz had a briefing on the transport system's operations during this year's Hajj season, including the planning, operation, and control mechanisms managed by the center. This includes central operation rooms and subsidiary control rooms that regulate crowd movement, direct buses, and ensure smooth flow using real-time data analysis tools and live monitoring systems.
The interior minister also reviewed the interactive map of pilgrim service routes between Mina and the Grand Mosque during the days of Tashreeq, which regulates shuttle transport and sets closure times for each route. The General Transport Center is responsible for organizing and managing the transport system in Makkah and the holy sites through multiple operational modes, including shuttle transport and single and double shuttles, in direct coordination with over ten government agencies to ensure functional integration within the Hajj system.

ISLAMABAD: Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has suspended seven Umrah companies over violations of regulatory controls, including housing pilgrims in unlicensed accommodations, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported this week. The violations were identified as part of the ministry's ongoing oversight efforts to improve the quality of services provided to the 'Guests of God,' according to the SPA report. 'The Ministry explained that these violations constitute serious transgressions that affect the safety and comfort of pilgrims,' it said. The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah said it had immediately begun taking legal measures against the violating companies in preparation for the implementation of the penalties stipulated by the law, according to the report. 'The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah affirmed its keenness to ensure that pilgrims receive their full rights, in accordance with the highest standards of quality and efficiency, stressing that it will not be lenient with any party that fails to fulfill its contractual obligations or endangers the safety of pilgrims,' the report read further. The ministry called on all Umrah companies and institutions to fully comply with the approved regulations and instructions, and to ensure the provision of agreed-upon services within the specified timetables to contribute to enhancing the experience of pilgrims and achieving their satisfaction during their stay in the Kingdom.

Nearly 2 million worshippers prayed in Rawdah at Prophet's Mosque during Hajj 1446
Saudi Gazette report MADINAH — The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque announced that 1,958,076 worshippers prayed in the Rawdah at the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah during the 1446 Hajj season. The figure includes both male and female visitors between Dhul Qa'dah 1 and Dhul Hijjah 29. Additionally, 3,447,799 pilgrims visited the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his companions Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq and Umar ibn Al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with them) during the same period. The authority emphasized that these numbers reflect the comprehensive services provided to ensure a smooth, peaceful, and spiritually enriching experience for visitors. It reaffirmed the Kingdom's commitment, under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, to caring for the holy sites and continuously enhancing the experience of pilgrims and worshippers.

AI Umrah assistant to cut costs, enhance experience for Pakistan's 2 million annual pilgrims
ISLAMABAD: A Saudi-backed consortium has launched what it says is the world's first artificial intelligence-powered Umrah advisor, 'Ibraheem,' aimed at simplifying pilgrimage planning and reducing costs for millions of Muslims, including more than two million Pakistanis who travel to the Kingdom each year. Ibraheem has been developed by Pakistani company Umrah Companions and is powered by Funadiq, a Saudi-based Destination Management Company specializing in Hajj and Umrah services. The tool was launched last week and is designed to offer pilgrims personalized guidance in multiple languages, including Urdu and Roman Urdu, with the goal of cutting Umrah-related expenses by as much as 20 percent. Pakistan is among the world's largest pilgrimage markets, with over $5 billion spent annually by citizens traveling for Umrah and Hajj. 'Today, 93% of global Muslims cannot afford Hajj and Umrah. It is too expensive,' said Mohammad Salman Arain, CEO of Umrah Companions, in an interview with Arab News. 'It is becoming expensive because we are not removing the inefficiencies in the processes — and that is what our mission is.' Pakistanis often face language barriers, lack of personalized travel information, and high costs when arranging Umrah trips through human agents, many of whom offer fixed packages with little customization. Arain said the AI assistant overcomes these issues by adapting to each user's needs, whether they are traveling with elderly parents, young children, or have budget constraints. The platform currently supports ten languages, including Urdu, Roman Urdu, Arabic and English, and provides real-time recommendations on flights, hotels, food, weather, medical facilities and even services such as wheelchair availability near the Haram in Makkah. 'You can start with a very simple question: 'I want to travel in August. Give me an estimated budget for four people,'' Arain said. 'Ibraheem will then suggest premium or budget options, tell you whether hotels are suitable for elderly companions, and help build your itinerary.' The tool's language offerings and its flexibility for use on smartphones and low-bandwidth environments make it particularly suitable for Pakistani blue- and white-collar workers living in the Gulf, a group that often lacks access to transparent and user-friendly tech tools for pilgrimage planning. 'We are building to make everybody's life easier. It is not for us only,' Arain added. 'This is available for everyone and every single Muslim in the world.' Umrah Companions is also working on outreach to Pakistani freelancers and overseas workers through diplomatic missions, Pakistani banks, and diaspora associations, especially in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, where a majority of Pakistani pilgrims are based. While the service is focused on Umrah for now, Arain said it was already learning and being trained for Hajj season. Once a pilgrim arrives in the Kingdom, the AI agent continues to provide support, from locating wheelchairs at Haram gates to suggesting restaurants and responding to emergencies, the chief executive explained. The tool has already contributed to a 25% increase in website traffic, according to Arain, and is currently being built as an open platform available for use by all Muslims, regardless of which company they book their pilgrimage through. The launch of the AI platform also aligns with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 goal to improve the pilgrimage experience through digital transformation and accessibility. Arain said the initiative complements the Kingdom's efforts to modernize religious tourism and ensure cost-effective pilgrimage options for lower-income Muslims. 'We believe this is going to revolutionize [pilgrimage],' Arain said, 'and it is very much in line with what the Saudi Vision 2030 is doing to enhance the pilgrimage experience.'
