
Charges laid after gun seized from Stoney Nakoda home
Two people are facing charges after Cochrane RCMP seized a prohibited sawed-off shotgun and imitation firearms from a home on Stoney Nakoda First Nation.
The items were seized while officers executed a search warrant on Sunday.
Two men from Mînî Thnî – a 26-year-old and a 28-year-old – are facing multiple charges.
One was released from custody and is expected to appear in court on Tuesday, the other remains in custody and appeared in court on Monday.
'This kind of investigation demonstrates that the RCMP is committed to keeping communities safe despite our ongoing resources deployed to support major events such as the G7 Summit,' said Insp. Dave Brunner of the Cochrane RCMP in a Monday news release.
